  • Constitutive equations in a nuclear reactor safety analysis code are mostly empirical correlations developed from experiments, which always accompany uncertainties. The accuracy of the code can be improved by modifying the constitutive equations fitting wider range of data with less uncertainty. Thus, the sensitivity of the code with respect to the constitutive equations is evaluated quantitatively in the paper to understand the room for improvement of the code. A new methodology is proposed which first starts by dividing the thermal hydraulic conditions into multiple sub-regimes using self-organizing map (SOM) clustering method. The sensitivity analysis is then conducted by multiplying an arbitrary set of coefficients to the constitutive equations for each sub-divided thermal-hydraulic regime with SOM to observe how the code accuracy varies. The randomly chosen multiplier coefficient represents the uncertainty of the constitutive equations. Furthermore, the set with the smallest error with the selected experimental data can be obtained and can provide insight which direction should the constitutive equations be modified to improve the code accuracy. The newly proposed method is applied to a steady-state experiment and a transient experiment to illustrate how the method can provide insight to the code developer.

  • Objectives : Self-esteem is a necessary inner factor for the korean medicine undergraduate, who will perform a various treatment relationship as a future health care provider. Writing is closely related with improving self-esteem by providing insight towards oneself. Methods : The level of self-esteem and current state of writing among 251 undergraduates studying korean medicine in Dongshin University were looked into through a structural survey. Results : Self-esteem score was 3.12 on a scale of 4 which was relatively high, but they showed defensive self-esteem tendency. Meanwhile writing variables appeared to be more influential to the self-esteem of undergraduates than personal characteristics. Also among writing variables, emotional writing and writing 2 to 3 times or more a month was related to high self-esteem which defensive self-esteem tendency is low. Majority of the undergraduates, however, turned out to be writing essay and writing 2 to 3 times a month. Conclusions : The following result suggests the need of writing classes as well as writing involved in emotion for self-esteem and improve medical communication in the curriculum of korean medical college.

  • Network convergence is regarded as the development tendency of the future wireless networks, for which self-organization paradigms provide a promising solution to alleviate the upgrading capital expenditures (CAPEX) and operating expenditures (OPEX). Self-optimization, as a critical functionality of self-organization, employs a decentralized paradigm to dynamically adapt the varying environmental circumstances while without relying on centralized control or human intervention. In this paper, we present comprehensive surveys of heterogeneous networks (HetNets) and investigate the enhanced self-optimization models. Self-optimization approaches such as dynamic mobile access network selection, spectrum resource allocation and power control for HetNets, etc., are surveyed and compared, with possible methodologies to achieve self-optimization summarized. We hope this survey paper can provide the insight and the roadmap for future research efforts in the self-optimization of convergence networks.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate factors affecting social problem-solving ability of alcohol-dependent patients with a focus on gender differences. Methods: Participants were 250 alcohol-dependent people(men 140, women 110) who were living in B, G and Y cities. Data were collected from January 10 to March 31, 2017 using self-report questionnaires. Abstinence self-efficacy, alcohol insight, unconditional self-acceptance, and social problem-solving ability were investigated. For data analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression were employed. Results: Factors influencing social problem-solving ability for men were unconditional self-acceptance and age. The explanatory power was 28%. Factors influencing social problem-solving ability for women were unconditional self-acceptance, stress, religiousness, age, occupation and abstinence self-efficacy and the explanatory power was 72%. Unconditional self-acceptance and age were significant variables of social problem-solving ability in both men and women. Stress, occupation, religiousness and abstinence self-efficacy were significantly associated with social problem-solving ability in women but not in men. Conclusion: The results suggest that it is necessary to consider gender characteristics in order to develop effective management programs for social problem-solving ability in alcohol-dependent people.

  • Purpose: The purpose of present study was to explore relationship between physical activity (PA) behavior and self-efficacy among older Korean-Americans (OKAs) based on reviewing major theories that are used to understand PA behavior, particularly as they relate to older adults within sociocultural contexts. Methods: 151 OKAs, living in California, were recruited and interviewed once. Self-efficacy and PA level were measured by Exercise Self-Efficacy Scale, Community Healthy Activities Model Program for Seniors (K-CHAMPS) questionnaire, respectively. Results: 82.8% of OKA women and 72.4% of OKA men had relatively low ($38.8{\pm}29.3$) self-efficacy related to PA. Exercise self-efficacy was statistically significant and positively associated with frequency for moderate and greater PA (r = 0.25, p < .01), frequency for all listed PA (r = 0.21, p < .05), caloric expenditure for moderate and greater PA (r = 0.23, p < .01), and caloric expenditure for all listed PA (r = 0.31, p < .01). Conclusion: Social Cognitive Theory including self-efficacy can provide insight about how to shape strategies that encourage OKAs to adhere to regular PA because it focuses on environmental as well as personal factors. Increased efforts are needed to understand the other factors associated with being active in OKAs.

  • Given the critical importance of enhancing the level of ESG practices, the current research examines the impact of credit card users' pro-environmental characteristics (i.e., environmental self-accountability, eco-label involvement) on their satisfaction with credit card benefits related to green life. That is, this research investigates whether consumers' satisfaction with green credit card benefits varies depending on their environmental self-accountability and eco-label involvement. Specifically, we predict that (1) for consumers with high (vs. low) environmental self-accountability, their satisfaction with credit card benefits related to green life will be higher (hypothesis 1); and (2) when consumers have high (vs. low) eco-label involvement, they will be more likely to be satisfied with credit card benefits related to green life (hypothesis 2). An online survey (N = 293) was conducted to test the two hypotheses. In support of the hypotheses, the results indicate that (1) respondents who had high (vs. low) environmental self-accountability were more satisfied with credit card benefits related to green life, and (2) respondents with high eco-label involvement, as compared to those with low eco-label involvement, reported greater satisfaction with credit card benefits related to green life. We suggest an important insight into how credit card companies approaching ESG issues can increase their consumers' satisfaction with green credit card benefits, considering consumers' individual characteristics such as environmental self-accountability and eco-label involvement.

  • Smartphone services seem to be appealing to people worldwide and show rapid growth in mobile service market. Based on the theoretical framework like attachment theory and self-congruity theory, we developed the research model and proposed six hypotheses. An analysis of 113 smartphone service users found that continued use intention in smartphone services is affected by uses' attachment to the service. We also found that the attachment is significantly increased by self-congruity, customization, and perceived usefulness. Our aim was to gain insight into ways of creating an environment that facilitating continued use intention of smartphone services. This study has important implications for academic researchers and practitioners who seek to understand why smartphone service users continuously use their smart phone services. Other practical implications of these findings and future research implications are also discussed.
