  • Purpose: This study was designed to explore the effects of core competencies on adaptation of the major, career identity and career search ability in nursing students. Methods: A correlational research design was used with the convenient sample of 360 nursing students. After explaining the purpose of this study to the participants, those who signed the consent form were provided with a self-descriptive questionnaire. Results: The highest average score of leadership of core competencies was 5.5 on 7 point-scale. The lowest average score of problem-solving ability was 4.4. There were significant correlations between adaptation of the major, career identity, and career search ability and core competencies, with the exceptions of nursing students. Adaptation of the major could be explained 25% by the instrument application ability, leadership, organizational structure, teamwork and career development. Career identity could be explained 13% by leadership, responsibility, teamwork, and career development. Career search ability could be explained 12% by responsibility, conflict management, teamwork, communication ability and career development. Conclusion: Based on the results, core competencies showed statistically significant effects on adaptation of the major, career identity and career search ability in nursing students. Thus, it is necessary to develop an educational curriculum to improve core competencies, career identify and career search ability.

Methods: The study was designed for learner centered safety education and heath education based on a theory of lifelong education. After a model development of the program was set up, five major units were selected after five stages of program planning, design, acting, evaluation and feedback: school safety, traffic safety, home safety, life safety, and first-aid. Twenty things were selected as what to teach, and a lesson plan of 12 sessions was mapped out by arranging what to teach. The subjects in this study were 114 elementary school students who were in five different sixth-grade classes. Each class received education for five days, in four sessions each, according to the program. Results: The learners showed improvement in safety consciousness, safety knowledge, self-efficacy and safety behavior after they received education according to the safety health education program, and they expressed a lot of satisfaction with the program. Conclusion: It is important to develop the lifelong education for safety health education for the elementary school children.

  • Drought is a major limiting factor in turfgrass management. Turfgrass responses to water deficit depend on the amount and the rate of water loss as well as the duration of the stress condition. This review paper was designed to understand responses such as photosynthesis, canopy spectral reflectance, plant cell, root, hormone and protein alteration when turfgrass got drought stress. Furthermore, mechanisms to recover from drought conditions were reviewed in detail. However, there are still many questions regarding plant adaptation to water deficit. It is not clear that the mechanism by which plants detect water deficit and transfer that signal into adaptive responses. Turfgrass research should focus on the best management practices such as how to enhance the ability of self-defense mechanism through understanding plant responses by environmental stress.

  • This paper presents a new low-cost fault-based Built-In Self-Test (BIST) scheme and technique for 1.8GHz RF receiver front end. The technique utilizes input impedance matching measurement. The BIST block and RF receiver front end are designed using 0.25m CMOS technology on a single chip. The technique is simple and inexpensive. The overhead of the BIST circuit is approximately $10\%$ of the total area of the RF front end.

  • Purpose: This study is designed to identify major factors that affect morale among staff of long-term care insurance in National Health Insurance Corporation. Methods: In order to collect the data, a survey was conducted by using the structured questionnaire based on 161 staff members of long-term care insurance of 50 long-term care operation centers, which were randomly selected by the table of random numbers in the whole centers of National Health Insurance Corporation from September 1 to 30, 2011. As for the data analysis, SPSS 18.0 was used to conduct the descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, mutiple regression, and path analysis. Results: The average point of morale was 3.37, and had a negative correlation with the job stress, while it had a positive correlation with the social support, professional identity, and self-efficacy. Job stress, social support, and professional identity have a significant effect on morale among the independent variables. These variables have significant effects on morale, and also have a positive effect on self-efficacy. The findings show that self-efficacy mediates the process of morale. Conclusion: In this study, the factor which influences the morale was identified. It turned out that the morale could be improved by reinforcing the professional identity, managing the health status as well as rotating the working place. As such, it expects both the improvement of long-term care insurance services outcome and its quality through the morale management.

  • This study was designed to compare the dietary habits of women's university students according to residence type. The subjects were 140 females divided into four groups. The first group consisted of students residing at home with their parents (home, n=39), the second group consisted of students residing in a dormitory (dormitory, n=34), the third group consisted of students residing in a boarding house (boarding, n=36), and the fourth group consisted of self-boarding students (self-boarding, n=31). The average age was 21.9 years, and the BMI levels of the groups were $20.8kg/m^2$, $19.6kg/m^2$, $20.5kg/m^2$, and $19.7kg/m^2$, respectively. The 'home' group had higher dietary regularity than the other groups (P<0.05). The boarding group and self-boarding group were more likely to eat out and skip breakfast than the home and dormitory groups (P<0.05). All groups indicated that frequency of snacking was higher than 1 time per day, but there was no significant difference between the groups. The dormitory and boarding groups spent less time consuming meals than the other groups. In conclusion, women's university students show different dietary behaviors according to residence type. Especially, the dormitory, boarding, and self-boarding groups need to improve their dietary habits through high quality education and nutritional support at college cafeterias.
