The questionnaire used for the second survey was designed by results of the first survey. The results of the second survey was analyzed by AHP method. The third survey was conducted based on the second one, and the final results were analyzed and the export strategic core technologies were developed through the expert meeting. The study results showed six export strategic core technologies as the followings : 1) environment-friendly engine technology for high performance 2) high performance/high efficiency power transmission system technology 3) development of measurement system technology for safety of agricultural products 4) field application of sensor networks 5) large size combine development technology for high performance 6) quality evaluation technology for agricultural products.
Transgenic animals are very useful for scientific, pharmaceutical, and agricultural purposes. In livestock, transgenic technology has been used forthe genetic alteration of farm animals, the production of human proteins inlarge quantities in the milk of transgenic farm animals, and the generation of animals with organs suitable for xenotransplantation. To date, the transfer of foreign genes into farm animals has been performed mainly by microinjection of DNA into the pronuclei of fertilized eggs. However, the overall success rate of transgenic animals in livestock so far has been disappointingly low, eg., the efficiency is 0∼5% in swine, and less than 1% in sheep and cattle, compared with the rate in mice where 5% microinjected develop into transgenic animals. Recently, McGreath et al. (2000) have succeeded in producing the gene targeted sheep by the use of nuclear transfer from cultured somatic cells transfected with a foreign gene in vitro. However, we may need plenty of time until currently employ this method for gene transfer to farm animals. We have been studying to exploit the method for improving production efficiencies of transgenic animals with emphasis of its application to farm animals. The present paper describes three approaches that we have made in our laboratory to improve production efficiencies of transgenic animals, based on the DNA microinjection method. 1. Co-injection of restriction enzyme with foreign DNA into the pronucleus for elevating production efficiencies of transgenic animals. 2. Efficient selection of transgenic mouse embryos using EGFP as a marker gene. 3. Phenotypes of tansgenic mice expressing WAP/hGH-CAG/EGFP fusion gene produced by selecting transgenic embryos. 4. Efficient site-specific integration of the transgene targeting an endogenous lox like site in early mouse embryos.

In this study, we propose the method of optimally changing material of BIW for minimizing weight while satisfying vehicle requirements on static stiffness. First, we formulate a material selection optimization problem. Next, we establish the CAE procedure of evaluating static stiffness. Then, to enhance the efficiency of design work, we integrate and automate the established CAE procedure using a commercial process integration and design optimization (PIDO) tool, PIAnO. For effective optimization, we adopt the approach of metamodel based approximate optimization. As a sampling method, an orthogonal array (OA) is used for selecting sampling points. The response values are evaluated at the sampling points and then these response values are used to generate a metamodel of each response using the linear polynomial regression (PR) model. Using the linear PR model, optimization is carried out an evolutionary algorithm (EA) that can handle discrete design variables. Material optimization result reveals that the weight is reduced by 44.8% while satisfying all the design constraints.

Tailless aircraft designed for stealth efficiency uses spoilers instead of rudders for the directional control. When the spoiler is rapidly deployed, highly nonlinear and unsteady aerodynamic characteristics can be generated, resulting in adverse effects on aircraft flight performance. This paper investigates the aerodynamic characteristics of an airfoil with moving spoiler using dynamic mesh CFD technique. The effects of spoiler operation speed, mounting location, and deployment scheduling are analyzed to reduce the adverse effects of the spoiler's dynamic operation. The results shows that the adverse effects of dynamic spoiler can be reduced by appropriate selection of the spoiler mounting location and deployment scheduling.
Recipients are an integral part of embryo transfer and they are expensive to maintain as a good recipient. Recipient management is one of the most important components in a successful embryo transfer program. Management includes selection and subsequent care of the animals. A good recipient is basically on "open" cows or heffers whose reproductive tract is capable of receiving one or two embryos and incubating it to term. Potential recipients should be always be healthy and cycling normally ranging from 18 to 23 days. A thorough veterinary examination is recommended for candidate of recipients and cattle for questionable health should be eliminated from the recipient herd. Age and size of recipients are particularly important considerations when heifers are used, because of most embryos available for transfer are from large dams and sires. Body condition can influence a recipient's production, reproduction and health. Obese and underconditioned cattle should be avoided for use. Transfer of fresh embryos especially requires precise synchronization of donors and recipients. For estrus synchronization, PGF$_2$$\alpha$ is injected twice 10 to 12 days apart and short4erm progestagen treatment is applied to potential recipient cattle by coil into vagina (PRID) or ear implant (Synchro-Mate-B). The highest pregnancy results are achieved in recipients at exact synchrony with donors or 12 to 24 hr earlier than donors. Estrus detection is a major factor in breeding efficiency. High accuracy can be achieved by use of heat mount detection alds or by obserbing cattle for 30-minute peroids 3 times daily. Assay progesterone in milk can be used to discrIminate between pregnant and nonprenant recipients. Rectal palpation on day 35 to 70 after is an accurate and safe method of pregnancy diagnosis. Embryonic mortality in recipients may be associated with factors such as high environmental temperature and nutritional or lactational stress in early lactation period. Achievement of short calving interval requires concentrated management activity during the first 90 days following calving. Acceptable candidate for a recipient should be routinely vaccinated for infectious diseases. Proper nutritional programs according to NRC requirements and body condition scoring system for recipient cattles are vital to the ultimate success of an embryo transfer program.r program.

This research aims to develop the strategy and method to enhance the reliability of image matching results and improve the efficiency of the matching process by utilizing LIDAR data in the main image matching processes. In this work, we present the methods to utilize LIDAR data in the selection of matching entities, the search for the matched entities and the evaluation of the matching results. The proposed method has been applied to medium-resolution digital aerial images and LIDAR data acquired at the same time. The results have been analyzed in comparison with an existing method using a virtual horizontal surface rather than LIDAR DEM. This analysis indicates that the proposed method can show significantly more improved performance than the existing method. The results of this study can contribute to the improvement of the currently available commercial image matching software and the enhancement of the DEM derived from LIDAR data and matching results.

In this paper, high-quality mosaic image is generated by high-resolution hyperspectral strip images using scale-invariant feature transform (SIFT) algorithm, which is one of the representative image matching methods. The experiments are applied to AISA Eagle images geo-referenced by using GPS/INS information acquired when it was taken on flight. The matching points between three strips of hyperspectral images are extracted using SIFT method, and the transformation models between images are constructed from the points. Mosaic image is, then, generated using the transformation models constructed from corresponding images. Optimal band appropriate for the matching point extraction is determined by selecting representative bands of hyperspectral data and analyzing the matched results based on each band. Mosaic image generated by proposed method is visually compared with the mosaic image generated from initial geo-referenced AISA hyperspectral images. From the comparison, we could estimate geometrical accuracy of generated mosaic image and analyze the efficiency of our methodology.
The objective of this study was to optimize the selection of sperm sources, optimal culture systems and vitrification method depends on sperm sources. The oocytes were inseminated with either KPN 105, 114, 191, SNU 101, 102, 103 or epididymis and then embryos inseminated were cultured in oviductal cell co-culture or HECM-6 as defined me dium. The blastocysts produced were pooled according to sperm sources as KPN, SNU or epididymis and then vitrified by OPP vitrification method. The results obtained were as follows: 1. The cleavage(86.2 or 84.7%) and development rates to blastocyst (30.6 or 32.0%) were not significantly different between oviductal cell co-culture or HECM-6 culture systems(P<0.05). 2. To determine the optimal sperm sources for using IVF in this system, cleavage rates in KPN 191 and SNU 101 (74.2, 55.8%) were significantly lower rather than those in KPN 105, 114, SNU 102, 103 or epididymis (86.7, 85.1, 89.8, 85.5 or 81.2%), but development rates to blastocyst in KPN 114, SNU 103 or epididymis sperm (30.0, 33.0 or 28.6%) were significantly higher rater than those in KPN 105, 191, SNU 101, 102(21.4, 15.4, 14.9 or 25.4%), respectively (P<0.05). 3. The blastocysts produced were pooled according to sperm sources as KPN, SNU or epididymis and then vitrified by OPP vitrification method. The survival rates were not significantly different among sperm sources (89.6%: 43/48 ; 90.1%: 46/51 ; 83.3% : 20/24). These results obtained indicate that the defined medium, HECM-6, could be use to produce of IVP bovine embryos. Since the frozen semen must be required to maintain of unvariation data in IVP embryo production system, KPN 114 and SNU 103 produced in our laboratory were useful for this purpose. The blastocysts produced by different sperm sources as KPN, SNU or epididymis were vitrified by OPP vitrification method and survived very high rates. The OPP vitrification method could be susceptibility to use of IVP bovine blastocyst embryos.

Some two years ago our company undertook a project on manufacturing network rationalization to maximize competitiveness through continuous improvement in manufacturing efficiency. One key outcome was the recognition of the benefits that could be derived from timely application of new technology or novel use of existing technologies and even more importantly the need to develop company wide strategies to maximize the impact of such applications. As a direct result an exercise was undertaken to identify the ten most promising technologies from a list of literally hundreds seen as having the capability of making a rapid impact on the manufacturing initiative. One of the outcomes of this exercise was the identification of Near Infrared Spectroscopy as a pivotal technology for improving process understanding, performance, and control to deliver consistent product quality cost effectively with broad applicability across our product range. While NIR had been in use in targeted areas on some of our sites for some years our new challenge was to develop a strategy to extend NIRs application, initially over 17 manufacturing sites, while concurrently expanding the NIR skill base company wide to ensure that the return on initial investment could be further maximized as shared applications across the remaining sites as required. This presentation will provide an overview of how life cycle based user requirement specifications were developed covering: ㆍSpectrophotometers ㆍSample interfaces ㆍSoftware ㆍEquipment and Software qualification ㆍCalibration transfer ㆍ Ease of developing effective user interfaces and control for applications transferred to a production area ㆍUser training ㆍWorld wide support The presentation will also describe the process adopted for vendor selection to ensure maximum utilization of the existing company wide NIR skill base and its future development to expedite applications of the technology in development, quality control and production areas.

Reduction scheme is remarkably useful in the case requiring the repeated calculation procedure. Recently, the efficiency of the reduction scheme has been improved by combining scheme of sub-domain method. But, when the global domain is partitioned into a few sub-domains, sub-domains without constraints can be produced. it is needed to extract the ritz vector from each sub-domain to construct the reduced system of each sub-domain. it is easy to extract the ritz vector from sub-domain with constraint. on the other hand, pseudo inverse method should be employed to extract the ritz vector from sub-domain without constraint. generally, the pseudo inverse takes a large number of computing time to obtain a reduced system of a sub-domain without boundary condition. This trouble can be overcome by the reduced pseudo inverse scheme which proposed in this study. This scheme is based on the static condensation that is not related with selection of the primary degrees of freedom. Numerical examples demonstrate that present method saves computational cost effectively. In addition, it is shown that the reduced system based on the proposed scheme predicts the accurate eigenvalues of global system.
