  • In the image methodology, cinemagraphs are needed to find out how to think through the empirical studies of the audiences in actual empirical theory. Therefore, this study analyzes what cinemagraph images represent and what groups are inclined to see them. The analytical study aims to reveal the grouping categorized as a preference survey according to the subjectivity study by Q methodology. Research reveals how images should be read and how disparities tend to differ from or agree with those in understanding images. Therefore, four types categorized into Q analysis through 1: 1 interview using a sample group and using samples showed that human interpretation and cinemagraph images were represented in understanding cinemagraphs.

  • Keats is a poet who was in pursuit of 'the beautiful'. He tried to show various structures in his poetry to search for 'eternal pleasure'. These are explained in terms of 'metamorphosis', 'travel structure' and 'metamorphosis patterns', but put together, these can be expressed as simple terms of a dramatic structure. Especially We can assume this dramatic structure is the key to access his poetry on the basis of the fact that Keats always admired the world of drama and respected Shakespeare most. We can see Keats' dramatic structure in his poetry Ode to a Nightingale, Ode on a Grecian Urn. To Autumn and so on, and in these three poems, he was very successful in achieving unique poetic expression by inducing tension structure' through the dramatic structure of Introduction - development - crisis - climax - ending. In conclusion, his poetry achieved success in that he made clear his central theme, the pursuit of a beautiful and happy life through the application of a dramatic structure.

  • The modern play is going through a change that is differentiating it from the plays of yesterday. The importance of narration through language, specifically that of words spoken on stage as a means of communication is being replaced by images and minimalism of words. The narration that depended on spoken words today depends more on the images that are conjured on stage. This movement shows also the very development of stage and its craft in the domain of theater and especially holds true in the avant-garde theaters of today. The avant-garde theater, in trying to duplicate the reality does not confine itself to oratory rhetorics that we see in the traditional plays of the past but expresses itself by mimicking the reality to the utmost possible.

  • Though the kitchens of traditional residence architecture are recognized as having significant importance to houses themselves, to women who are supposed to do most of the housekeeping work, they are generally thought to be irrational space. This study tries to show through a demonstrative way that the kitchen space of traditional houses is the sensible and rational living space for the health's sake of all family members in the relations among humans, space and environment. Through this study, we were able to see that the architectural work of our ancestors in designing space had different views from those of the West in that our ancestors had sought the outcome taking the interrelations among environment-humans-space seriously in order to shape the physical organization for human beings.

  • On the premise that it is effective and necessary to make use of science magazines among any other media, the desirable direction of science magazines and, further more and the merits of magazines to promote the development of good science magazines are suggested. To see the present status of science magazines in Korea, we analyzed the public view on the science magazines by secondary school students and science teachers. We also assorted and analyzed the contents through the subjects of the issues of three major magazines published in 1991. Through the interview with the editor staffs of each magazine, the characteristics of each magazine and the editers' hopes to present the direction in the future were analyzed. As a result, the basic conditions which science magazines should equip and the required conditions to apply the basic conditions to make them better were suggested.

  • Recently, Pneumatic Actuation System (PAS) has been used increasingly as a high performance fin-control servo actuation systems because of the special advantages of pneumatic units: primarily their low cost, small size, light weight, and tolerance to broad temperature extremes. In this study, a nonlinear model of PAS is derived through the detailed analysis of the major components in the typical system. The model includes nonlinear flow-pressure relationships of the flow through the solenoid valve openings and orifices, PWM algorithm for driving two solenoid valves as a closed-center 3-way valve for minimum gas consumption, solenoid valve dynamics, saturation, and friction. Simulation results are compared with the experimental ones for square and sinusoidal inputs to see the validity of the model. Independent of the shape and magnitude of the input signals, both results are in good agreements with minor difference.

  • The world is facing a challenge in meeting its needs for energy. Global energy consumption in the last halfcentury has increased very rapidly and is expected to continue to grow over the next 50 years. However, it is expected to see significant differences between the last 50 years and the next. This paper aims at introducing a good solution to replace or work with conventional marine power plants. This includes the use of fuel cell power plant operated with hydrogen produced through water electrolysis or hydrogen produced from natural gas, gasoline, or diesel fuels through steam reforming processes to mitigate air pollution from ships.

  • The aim of modern medicine is to prolong life by fighting death. Doctors have traditionally believed that this was an ethical good deed. The negative connotation surrounding death has led to the avoidance of terminally ill patients. But in a modern society where death is medicalized, doctors have to see dying patients every day and are in a state of guilt from implementing meaningless life-sustaining treatments. Therefore, medical schools should allow medical students to embrace a new perspective through death education. Yonsei University Medical College has implemented death education since 2017 as an optional class for first and second year medical students. Students watch videos related to death once a week for 6 weeks and submit their reflections by e-mail. The professor reads the students' reflections and gives them weekly feedback. Through this coursework, students realize that death is not a medical event, but rather a part of life and completion. The ultimate purpose of death education is to transform blind life-absolutist identity into narrative identity.

  • A simulator for virtual laser machining is developed to help understanding and predicting the effects of machining parameters on the final machined results. Main program is based on the model for polymer ablation with short pulse excimer lasers. Version f of the simulator is built using Visual Fortran to make the user work under visual environment such as Windows on PC, where the important machining parameters can be input via dialog box and the calculated results for machined shape, beam fluence, and temperature distribution can be plotted through the 2-D graphics windows. Version II of the simulator is built using HTML, CGI and JAVA languages, allowing the user to control the input parameters and to see the results plot through the internet.

  • A growing number of firms are competitively entering into e-business because they see the high potential of e-business growth as an opportunity. The positive expectation of e-business market leads most firms to go into e-business, but it is not clarified what kinds of benefits firms gain through e-business. In this paper, we examine whether firms' economic benefits are related to e-business activities. For this purpose, we employ event study methodology and assess the cumulative abnormal returns for 782 e-business initiatives made by firms listed in Korean capital markets. The well-known "Dot Com Effect" is empirically verified through this study. The results of this study indicate that the e-business potential is highly evaluated in the capital market, and e-business firms are expected to create significant benefits in the future period.
