  • Nowadays, car manufacturers applied many high strength steels such AHSS or UHSS to car bodies for weight lightening. Therefore, a variety of applied steel sheet to car bodies increased and the needs of simulation to evaluate weldability also increased in order to reduce the cost and time. In this study, resistance spot welding simulations for DP 780 Steel with 1.0 and 1.4 mm thickness were conducted with respect to lobe curve. 2 regression models to estimate tensile shear strength were suggested and they were second order polynomial regression model and optimized second order regression model. The performance of these models was evaluated in terms of the coefficient of determinant and average error rate.

  • Dyes are widely used in various industries including textile, cosmetic, paper, plastics, rubber, and coating, and their discharge into waterways causes serious environmental and health problems. Four different carbon nanostructures, graphene oxide, oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes, activated carbon and multi-walled carbon nanotubes, were used as adsorbents for the removal of Nile Blue A (NBA) dye from aqueous solution. The four carbon nanostructures were characterized by scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffractometer. The effects of various parameters were investigated. Kinetic adsorption data were analyzed using the first-order model and the pseudo-second-order model. The regression results showed that the adsorption kinetics were more accurately represented by the pseudo-second-order model. The equilibrium data for the aqueous solutions were fitted to Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms, and the equilibrium adsorption of NBA was best described by the Langmuir isotherm model. This is the first research on the removal of dye using four carbon nanostructures adsorbents.

  • In this paper, we derive noninformative priors for the ratio of parameters in the Burr model. We obtain Jeffreys' prior, reference prior and second order probability matching prior. Also we prove that the noninformative prior matches the alternative coverage probabilities and a HPD matching prior up to the second order, respectively. Finally, we provide simulated frequentist coverage probabilities under the derived noninformative priors for small and moderate size of samples.

  • Reliable channel modeling becomes an important measure in performance evaluation on various data detection algorithms. For this reason, correct and accurate modeling is required. This paper presents a nonlinear modeling of Super-RENS (Super-Resolution Near Field Structure) read-out signal using the second-order Volterra model.

  • This paper deals with the theory for rotational motion of a two-layer Earth model (an inelastic mantle and liquid core) including the dissipation in the mantle-core boundary(CMB) along with tidal effects produced by Moon and Sun. An analytical solution being derived using Hori's perturbation technique at a second order Hamiltonian. Numerical nutation series will be deduced from the theory.

  • In this paper, a method of estimating second-order Volterra model with ARCH errors is presented. Then we use an ECLMS algorithm for noise canceling of nonlinear time series. The validity of the proposed method is demonstrated for estimating second-order Volterra model with ARCH errors, using computer simulations.

  • For the Schlogl model with the second order transition under the influence of the multiplicative noise singular at the unstable steady state, the detailed discussions are presented for various kinds of stochastic phenomena, suchas the effects of parameters on stationary probability distribution, noise-induced phase transitions and escape rate.

  • In this study, as a fundamental study for the remediation of the radionuclides-contaminated soil, the adsorption of cobalt, strontium, and cesium on natural soil and kaolin were experimently investigated and adsorption characteristics were evaluated by using several adsorption kinetic and isotherm models. The pseudo-first-order kinetic model (PFOM), pseudo-second-order kinetic model (PSOM), one-site mass transfer model (OSMTM), and two compartment first-order kinetic model (TCFOKM) were used to evaluate the kinetic data and the pseudo-second-order kinetic model was the best with good correlation. The adsorption equilibria of cobalt, strontium, and cesium on natural soil were fitted successfully by Redlich-Peterson and Sips models. For kaolin, the adsorption equilibria of cobalt, strontium, and cesium were fitted well by Redlich-Peterson, Freundlich, and Sips models, respectively. The amount of adsorbed radionuclides on natural soil and kaolin was in the order of cesium > strontium > cobalt. It is considered that these results could be useful to predicting the adsorption behaviors of radionuclides such as cobalt, strontium, and cesium in soil environments.

  • A carbonaceous sorbent was prepared from rice husk via sulphuric acid treatment. After preparation and washing, the wet carbon with moisture content 85% was used in its wet status in this study due to its higher reactivity towards Cr(VI) than the dry carbon. The interaction of Cr(VI) and the carbon was studied and two processes were investigated in terms of kinetics and equilibrium namely Cr(VI) removal and chromium sorption. Cr(VI) removal and chromium sorption were studied at various initial pH (1.6-7), for initial Cr(VI) concentration (100 mg/l). At equilibrium, maximum Cr(VI) removal occurred at low initial pH (1.6-2) where, Cr(III) was the only available chromium species in solution. Cr(VI) removal, at such low pH, was related to the reduction to Cr(III). Maximum chromium sorption (60.5 mg/g) occurred at initial pH 2.8 and a rise in the final pH was recorded for all initial pH studied. For the kinetic experiments, approximate equilibrium was reached in 60-100 hr. Cr(VI) removal data, at initial pH 1.6-2.4, fit well pseudo first order model but did not fit pseudo second order model. At initial pH 2.6-7, Cr(VI) removal data did not fit, anymore, pseudo first order model, but fit well pseudo second order model instead. The change in the order of Cr(VI) removal process takes place in the pH range 2.4-2.6 under the experimental conditions. Other two models were tested for the kinetics of chromium sorption with the data fitting well pseudo second order model in the whole range of pH. An increase in cation exchange capacity, sorbent acidity and base neutralization capacity was recorded for the carbon sorbent after the interaction with acidified Cr(VI) indicating the oxidation processes on the carbon surface accompanying Cr(VI) reduction.
