The purpose of this study is to investigate the usefulness and application of home economics curriculum to housewives. For this research, a survey was conducted using questionnaires against 427 housewives living in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, and other provinces. The data analysis of this study was verified by frequency, mean, t-test, and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ coefficient by using SPSS 12.0 program. The conclusions of this study are as follows. First, more than 88% of the housewives recognize that home economics curriculum is necessary. Second, as for the areas of the usefulness and application of home economics curriculum, housewives recognize the "family and child" area was most useful, followed by "food, nutrition & cookery", "consumer and family financial management", "housing and residential interior design", and "clothing care, apparel design and making" areas. Third, the better perceive the housewives think of the home economics curriculum, the higher is the appreciation of the curriculum. Based on this research, home economics curriculum was proved very important and necessary in everyday life for housewives.

The purposes of this study were to develop ICT consumer education program for the second grade middle school students using in the Home Economics and Technology class and to test the effect of this program in terms of learning the knowledge and forming the attitude to be a wise consumer. The contents of a middle school Home Economics curriculum and 10 different textbooks were analyzed. Based on these analyses 5 ICT lesson plans on consumer education were developed. The second grade middle school students as an experimental group participated in 5 ICT consumer education classes during the middle school Home Economics and Technology classes. The control group of students who had same condition with the experimental group were taught by traditional instructional methods. After experiment, the changes in knowledge and attitude to be a wise consumer of both groups were analyzed using Analysis of Covariance. The significant improvements of knowledge and attitude of it were found among the experimental group of students compared with control group of students. Thus the conclusion is that the ICT consumer education program conducted in this study was found to be more effective than traditional one in terms of learning the knowledge and forming the attitude to be a wise consumer.
This thesis examined the effects of social demographical variables, multiple intelligences, and creative home environment on the child leadership. Study samples are 5 years old children at the kindergartens located in Seoul and metropolitan areas as well as their parents and (homeroom) teachers. 173 copies were analyzed. Results of this study are as follows: First, in terms of difference of multiple intelligences, creative home environment and child leadership depending on social demographical background, The second child showed significantly different interpersonal intelligence among other multiple intelligences from the first child with regard to the birth order. In terms of mother's education level and creative home environment, mothers with education more than universities showed big difference in family pressure. In terms of effects of total income, the children from families with total income over 4 million won showed significant difference in logical, mathematical, naturalist intelligence. and language intelligence. In terms of creative home environment, significant difference was found with regard to learning environment and child respect. Second, multiple intelligences, creative home environment, and child leadership showed correlated strongly. Third, total income in social demographic variables, language intelligence in multiple intelligences, and family pressure in creative home environment were found to have effects on it. Total income in social and demographical variables and family pressure in creative home environment were found to have effects on it. Interpersonal relation intelligence in multiple intelligences and learning environment in creative home environment were found to have effects on it. Total leadership had effects on family pressure only in creative home environment.

This study was conducted with three objectives. First of all we tired to find a momentum to boost the value of home economics education as a fixture of the curriculum by analyzing the relation between gender equity education and Home Economics Education. On the other hand it suggests the need of gender equity education in Home Economics Education the related measures and some applicable course of study. And For the purpose of exemplification this study was developed gender equity instruction in Home Economics Education. The results are as follows: First the recent gender equity education in our education system can be interpreted as giving equal education opportunity and equal education objective. Therefore this kind of theory results in the education of Home Economics for both the male and female students. This results can be valued as boosting the availability of Home Economics Education and providing a stepping stone for Home Economics Education Development. Second the ultimate objective of Gender Equity Education is to cultivate a person to be equipped with Gender Equity concept and to implement the concept. Therefore Home Economics Education (Ministry of Education 1995) which has the ultimate objective of improving the quality of the individual and family life can be the most important curriculum for understanding the abstract concept of Gender Equity and providing various practical contents. Third the Gender Equity Education in Home Economics can be realized through the following measures:(1) The efforts to positively restructure the education contents after analysing and evaluating the education contents in terms of the Gender Equity concept. For the purpose of exemplification, this study was developed ‘Gender Equity Instruction in Home Economics Education. (2) The development and application of an interesting course of study for both the male an female students (3) Providing the proper teachers for the male students who want to choose Home Economics.
Purpose: Hydrogen-methane breath tests are used to diagnose carbohydrate malabsorption and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. The COVID-19 pandemic has driven the modification of procedures as breath tests are potentially aerosol-generating procedures. We assessed the effect of delayed analysis of breath samples, facilitating the at-home performance of breath testing. Methods: Children provided two breath samples at every step of the lactose breath test. The samples were brought back to the clinic, and one set of samples was analyzed immediately. The second set was stored at room temperature and analyzed 1-4 days later. Results: Out of the 73 "double" lactose breath tests performed at home, 33 (45.8%) were positive. The second samples were analyzed 20 to 117 hours after the first samples (41.7±24.3 hours). There was no significant difference in the hydrogen concentration between the first and second sets (Z=0.49, p=0.62). This was not the case for methane, which had a significantly higher concentration in the second breath samples (Z=7.6). Conclusion: Expired hydrogen levels remain stable in plastic syringes if preserved at room temperature for several days. On the other hand, the delayed analysis of methane appeared to be less reliable. Further research is needed to examine the impact of delayed analysis on methane and hydrogen concentrations.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the influence of second victim experiences following patient safety incidents and positive psychological capital on the intention to remain among advanced beginner nurses working at tertiary hospitals. Methods: The participants were 179 nurses with a clinical experience of 13 to 36 months at two tertiary hospitals. We collected data using questionnaires related to second victim experiences, positive psychological capital, and intention to remain. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, a one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Scheffé test, Pearson correlation, and hierarchical regression analysis. Results: The intention to remain in advanced beginner nurses was negatively correlated with second victim experiences and positively correlated with positive psychological capital. A hierarchical multiple regression model with control variables (subjective job satisfaction and self-assessed work proficiency), psychological capital, and second victim experience accounted for 26% of the factors that influenced advanced beginner nurses' intention to remain. Among the related factors, the most influential was subjective job satisfaction. Second victim experience and positive psychological capital also influenced the advanced beginner nurses' intention to remain. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest a need to develop a program that helps promote intention to remain for nurses at the advanced beginner stage by minimizing second victim experiences and improving positive psychological capital and the work environment.
This study investigated the relationships between socio-economic status of family, home environment stimulation, children's behavioral problems, and interactive peer play of preschool children. Surveys of 2,150 Korean mothers with their preschool children(Mean age= 51.9 months) from the Panel Study of Korean Children by Korea Institute of Child Care and Education were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Each variable's confirmatory factor analysis showed the correlation coefficient below .85, which made a satisfactory level of discriminant validity. The model fit to the data well, with an agreeable level of index. The major findings were as follows. First, SES did not significantly affected children's interactive peer play. Second, SES significantly affected home environment stimulation and children's behavioral problems. And the relationship between SES and children's behavioral problems are significantly mediated by home environment stimulation. Third, the relationship between SES and children's interactive peer play are significantly mediated by home environment stimulation and children's behavioral problems. These results help better understand the paths among the home characteristics and children's behavioral problems on children's social development. Interpretation and implication of the results have been discussed.
The aim of the current study is to examine the effects of mothers' home management ability on school-aged children's time and life management skills through the mediation effect of children's self-regulation. Study subjects were 317 5- and 6-grade children at elementary schools located in Seoul and Gyeonggi area and their 317 mothers. The findings were as follows. First, in the SEM model of predicting children's time management skill, greater mothers' home management ability significantly predicted better time management skills among their children. Second, mothers' home management ability also indirectly affected children's time management skill through its significant effects on children's self-regulation. The test yielded a significantly mediation effect of self-regulation. Children's self-regualtion was strongly related to time management skills. Third, in the SEM model predicting children's life management skills, maternal ability of home management again directly predicted greater life management skills of their children. However, mediation of self-regulation was not statistically significant. The findings suggested the important role of mothers' home management ability in instilling and modeling self-regulation and self-management skills of school-aged children.
This study aims to examine how home child care allowance influences a mother's choice of child care type. To accomplish this goal, we surveyed 432 mothers who had at least one child under 5 years old. The data were analyzed by frequencies, percentages, means and binomial logistic regressions. The results showed that unemployed mothers and mothers with younger children had a high tendency to choose home child care allowance instead of child care subsidy. Second, mother's employment status, age of first child and an interactive term of mother's employment status and home child care receipt influenced a concordance between an ideal and actual child care type. Unemployed mothers and mothers with younger children were more likely to experience a concordance between their ideal and actual types of child care. By investigating how home child care allowance affects the right of choice in child care type, this study provides empirical information to policy makers and researchers and contributes to develop cash-benefit policies for families with young children.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships among mothers' play beliefs, children's gender and home play frequency, and their preferences for three types of play. Methods: Totally 256 mothers of 5-year-olds participated in the survey in metropolitan area. Data were analyzed with t-test, Pearson's correlations, and stepwise multi-regression using SPSS 22.0. Results: First, boys and girls showed little difference in their home play experiences. Boys preferred active and rough play, while girls preferred quiet play. Second, mothers' play beliefs and children's home play frequency had partial correlations with children's play preferences. Third, predictors of children's play preferences were influenced by the types of play. Children's gender and mothers' play beliefs affected children's preference for active play. Only gender explained children's preference for rough play. Finally, children's gender, home play frequency, and mothers' play beliefs influence children's preference for quiet play. Conclusion: In conclusion, gender is an important factor of children's play preferences, and mothers' play beliefs and children's home play frequency affect their preferences for a specific type of play.
