원통형 고체산화물 연료전지 스택 제작 및 성능평가 (Fabrication and Performance Evaluation of Tubular Solid Oxide Fuel Cells Stack)

  • In present work, optimized the manufacturing process of anode-supported tubular SOFCs cell and stack were studied. For this purpose, we first developed a high performance tubular SOFC cell, and then made electrical connection in series to get high voltage. The gas sealing was established by attaching single cells to alumina jig with ceramic bond. Through these process, we can obtain such high OVP as around 15V, which means that the electrical connection and gas sealing were optimized. Finally we developed a new tubular SOFC stack which shows a maximum power of 65W @ $800^{\circ}C$.

방화용 실런트 성능 평가 방법 연구 (A study for the test method of fire resistance construction sealant)

  • Many kinds of fire-stop sealants have been used for joint sealing, cable penetration part sealing and fireproof structure finishing etc in building sectors which need water-proofing and fire-stop properties. But, fire-stop sealant itself has no specific industry standards in Korea even though there are so many required properties for the application. So, in this study, for the evaluation, we adopted and applied UL standard 94(UL 94) which is commonly used for the fire retardant testing in inflammable materials like plastics and rubbers in electronics industry. In this study, we demonstrated fire resistance properties of each fire-stop sealants which varied with different formulation, thickness and origins available in Korea. Overall, fire stop sealant had better fire resistance performance than normal construction sealant. And the thicker the material, the better the fire resistance performance was. Because there is no national or industry guideline for fire stop sealant itself, each sealant products showed different level of performances under UL94 desigation. Even certain product had very poor fire proof propeties although it claims it can be used for the application.

Au-Sn 공정 접합을 이용한 RF MEMS 소자의 Hermetic 웨이퍼 레벨 패키징 (Application of Au-Sn Eutectic Bonding in Hermetic Rf MEMS Wafer Level Packaging)

  • RF MEMS 기술에서 패키지의 개발은 매우 중요하다. RF MEMS 패키지는 소형화, hermetic 특성, 높은 RF 성능 및 신뢰성을 갖도록 설계되어야 한다. 또한 가능한 저온의 패키징 공정이 가능해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 저온 공정을 이용한 RF MEMS 소자의 hermetic 웨이퍼 레벨 패키징을 제안하였다. Hermetic sealing을 위하여 약 $300{\times}C$의 Au-Sn 공정 접합 (eutectic bonding) 기술을 사용하였으며, Au-Sn의 조합으로 형성된 sealing부의 폭은 $70{\mu}m$이었다. 소자의 전기적 연결을 위하여 기판에 수직 via hole을 형성하고 전기도금 (electroplating) 방법을 이용하여 Cu로 채웠다. 완성된 RF MEMS 패키지의 최종 크기는 $1mm\times1mm\times700{\mu}m$이었다. 패키징 공정의 최적화 및 $O_2$ 플라즈마 애싱 공정을 통하여 접합 계면 및 via hole의 void들을 제거할 수 있었다. 또한 패키지의 전단 강도 및 hermeticity는 MIL-STD-883F의 규격을 만족하였으며 패키지 내부에서 오염 및 기타 유기 물질은 발생하지 않았다. 패키지의 삽입 손실은 2 GHz에서 0.075 dB로 매우 작았으며, 여러 종류의 신뢰성 시험 결과 패키지의 파손 및 성능의 감소는 발견되지 않았다.

  • MEMS 소자는 현재의 전자산업환경에서 여러 요구조건을 만족시킬 수 있는 특징을 갖추고 있으며 이러한 MEMS 소자를 이용한 MEMS 구조물의 packaging 방법에 있어서는 내부 MEMS 소자의 동작을 위한 외부 환경으로부터의 보호를 위하여 Hermetic sealing에 대한 요구를 충분히 만족시켜야 한다. 본 논문에서는 이와 같은 MEMS device의 진공 패키지를 구현함에 있어서 기판내부에 수동소자를 실장할 수 있는 LTCC 기술$^{1)}$ 을 이용하여 진공 패키징하는 방법에 대하여 소개한다. 본 기술을 이용하는 경우 기존의 Hermetic sealing이외에 향후 적층 기판 내부에 수동소자를 내장시켜 배선 길이 및 노이즈 성분을 감소시켜 더욱 전기적 성능을 향상시킬 수 있는 장점이 있게된다. 본 논문에서는 LTCC기판을 이용하여 패키징 시킨 후, 내부 진공도에 영향을 줄 수 있는 계면들에서의 시간에 따른 진공도 변화로부터 leakage rate를 측정 (stacked via : $4.1{\pm}1.11{\times}10^{-12}$/Torr1/sec, LTCC 기판/AgPd/solder/Cu의 여러 가지 계면구조: $3.4{\pm}0.33{\times}10^{-12}$/ Torrl/sec)하여 LTCC 기판의 Hermetic sealing 특성에 관하여 조사하였다. 실제 적용의 한 예로 LTCC 기술을 이용하여 Bolometer를 성공적으로 진공패키징할 수 있었으며 실제 관찰된 이미지를 함께 소개한다.

LPG 용기용 밸브의 밀봉부품 크랙 및 결함에 관한 실험적 고찰 (Experimental Investigation on Cracks and Defects of a Valve Sealing Components for a LPG Cylinder)

  • 본 본문에서는 LPG 용기용 가스밸브의 O-링과 밸브패킹의 밀봉결함과 크랙에 관련된 실험적 연구를 수행하고자 한다. LP 가스의 누출을 방지하기 위해 사용하는 O-링은 LPG 밸브의 밀봉 안전성을 확보하는 핵심부품으로 대단히 중요하다. 밸브패킹은 LPG 연료의 공급과 충전을 하는데, 가스 공급구를 열고 닫는 중요한 역할을 담당한다. 이들 두개의 밀봉부품에 대한 성능은 밸브의 누설 안전성과 장수명에 밀접한 관련이 있다. 연구결과에 의하면, O-링의 대부분은 파티션 부근의 결합불량과 과도한 압축률로 인해 원주방향으로 크랙이 발생하는 것으로 분석되었다. 그 이외의 결함으로 거론된 경우는 LP가스의 과도한 가스압력으로 인한 압출현상의 발생은 압출크랙을 일으키는 원인으로 작용하고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 가스밸브의 누설 안전성을 확보하고 수명을 연장하기 위해 O-링과 밸브패킹에 대한 엄격한 품질관리와 인증제도의 도입을 권장하고자 한다. 결국에는 LPG용기용 밸브의 품질과 안전성 확보를 위해 밀봉장치에 대한 품질안전 보증제도를 도입해야 밸브를 오랫동안 사용할 수 있을 것이다.

아스팔트 콘크리트 포장용 균열실링재의 부착특성 평가 (Evaluation of Adhesion Characteristics of Crack Sealants Used in Asphalt Concrete Pavement)

  • Cracking is an inevitable fact of asphalt concrete pavements and plays a major role in pavement deterioration. Pavement cracking is one of the main factors determining the frequency and method of repair. Cracks can be treated with a number of preventative maintenance actions, including overlay surface treatments such as slurry sealing, crack sealing, or crack filling. Pavement cracks can show up as one or all of the following types: transverse, longitudinal, fatigue, block, reflective, edge, and slippage. Crack sealing is a frequently used pavement maintenance treatment because it significantly extends the pavement service life. However, crack sealant often fails prematurely due to a loss of adhesion. Because current test methods are mostly empirical and only provide a qualitative measure of the bond strength, they cannot accurately predict the adhesive failure of the sealant. This study introduces a laboratory test aimed at assessing the bonding of hot-poured crack sealant to the walls of pavement cracks. A pneumatic adhesion tensile testing instrument (PATTI) was adopted to measure the bonding strength of the hot-poured crack sealant as a function of the curing time and temperature. Based on a limited number of test results, the hot-poured crack sealants have very different bonding performances. Therefore, this test method can be proposed as part of a newly developed performance-based standard specification for hot-poured crack sealants for use in the future. PURPOSES : The purpose of this study was to evaluate both the adhesion and failure performance of a crack sealant as a function of its curing time and curing temperature. METHODS: A pneumatic adhesion tensile testing instrument (PATTI) was adopted to measure the adhesion performance of a crack sealant as a function of the curing time and curing temperature. RESULTS: With changes in the curing time, curing temperature, and sealant type, the bond strengths were found to be significantly different. Also, higher bond strengths were measured at lower temperatures. Different sealant types produced completely different bond strengths and failure behaviors. CONCLUSIONS: The bonding strength of an evaluated crack sealant was shown to differ depending on various factors. Two sealant types, which were composed of different raw materials, were shown to perform differently. The newly proposed test offers the possibility of evaluating and differentiating between different crack sealants. Based on alimited number of test results, this test method can be proposed as part of a newly developed performance-based standard specification for crack sealants or as part of a guideline for the selection of hot-poured crack sealant in the future.

75톤급 터보펌프 기계평면 실의 작동 성능 시험 (Mechanical Face Seal Performance Test for 75ton Class Turbopump)

  • A leakage performance test and an endurance performance test of a 75 ton class turbopump mechanical face seal are performed using water under high speed and high temperature environment. A prototype mechanical face seal is manufactured for the purpose of sealing of fuel between a fuel pump and turbine. By simulating operating condition experimentally, the leakage rate and seal carbon wear rate are obtained to evaluate the performance of the prototype mechanical face seal. The test results show the acceptable leakage performance and reasonable wear tendency as well.

공정변수간의 교호작용을 고려한 모서리 접합두께 및 처짐량 예측 회귀식 도출 (Derivation of predicting regression equations of bonding thickness and deflection of glass edge considering the interaction effects between the parameters)

  • 유리 모서리 접합은 디스플레이 및 건축, 가전 등 산업계의 다양한 분야에 활용되고 있으며, 패널 접합부의 두께 및 형상은 단열성능 및 강도 등 패널의 주요 성능에 큰 영향을 미치는 요인으로 작용한다. 이런 모서리 접합부의 단면은 수소혼합가스토치를 이용하여 모서리를 용융 접합 할 경우 공정변수에 의해 형상이 결정된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 가스토치를 이용하여 모서리 접합 시 접합부에 영향을 미치는 공정변수를 설정하고, 접합단면의 형상변수를 설정하여 두 변수간의 상관관계를 분석하기 위한 회귀식을 도출하고자 하였다. 회귀식 도출을 위해 공정변수가 형상변수에 미치는 주효과 및 교호작용을 분석하였으며, 변수간의 교호작용을 고려한 다항회귀식을 도출하였다. 도출된 다항회귀식을 통해 각 공정변수 변화에 따라 모서리 접합 두께 예측 및 처짐량 예측이 가능하다.

3중 접합 공정에 의한 MEMS 공진기의 웨이퍼레벨 진공 패키징 (Wafer-level Vacuum Packaging of a MEMS Resonator using the Three-layer Bonding Technique)

  • The high vacuum hermetic sealing technique ensures excellent performance of MEMS resonators. For the high vacuum hermetic sealing, the customization of anodic bonding equipment was conducted for the glass/Si/glass triple-stack anodic bonding process. Figure 1 presents the schematic of the MEMS resonator with triple-stack high-vacuum anodic bonding. The anodic bonding process for vacuum sealing was performed with the chamber pressure lower than 5 × 10-6 mbar, the piston pressure of 5 kN, and the applied voltage was 1 kV. The process temperature during anodic bonding was 400 ℃. To maintain the vacuum condition of the glass cavity, a getter material, such as a titanium thin film, was deposited. The getter materials was active at the 400 ℃ during the anodic bonding process. To read out the electrical signals from the Si resonator, a vertical feed-through was applied by using through glass via (TGV) which is formed by sandblasting technique of cap glass wafer. The aluminum electrodes was conformally deposited on the via-hole structure of cap glass. The TGV process provides reliable electrical interconnection between Si resonator and aluminum electrodes on the cap glass without leakage or electrical disconnection through the TGV. The fabricated MEMS resonator with proposed vacuum packaging using three-layer anodic bonding process has resonance frequency and quality factor of about 16 kHz and more than 40,000, respectively.

Research on sealing ability of granular bentonite material after 10.5 years of engineered barrier experiment

  • The gas permeability behavior of unsaturated bentonite-based materials is of major importance for ensuring effective sealing of high-level radwaste repositories. This study investigated this by taking a sample of Granular Bentonite Material (GBM) at the end of the Engineered Barrier Emplacement (EB) experiment in the Opalinus Clay, placing it under different humidity conditions until it achieved equilibration, and testing the change in the gas permeability under loading and unloading. Environmental humidity is shown to have a significant effect on the water content, saturation, porosity and dry density of GBM and to affect its gas permeability. Higher sensitivity to confining pressure is exhibited by samples equilibrated at higher relative humidity (RH). It should be noted that for the sample at RH=98%, when the confining pressure is raised from 1 MPa to 6 MPa, gas permeability can be reduced from 10-16 m2 to 10-19 m2, which is close to the requirements of gas tightness. Due to higher water content and easier compressibility, samples equilibrated under higher RH show greater irreversibility during the loading and unloading process. The effective gas permeability of highly saturated samples can be increased by 2-3 orders of magnitude after 105℃ drying. In addition, cracks possibly occurred during the dehydration and drying process will become the main channel for gas migration, which will greatly affect the sealing performance of GBM.
