Bochdalek hernia is a type of congenital diaphragmatic defect in the posterolateral portion of the diaphragm. The defect is usually Lt. sided due to protective effect of liver on right. Sex distribution is male preponderance [2:1] and it is diagnosed during neonate, mostly first 24 hours, due to severe respiratory distress. We experienced a rare case of old aged female patient with congenital Bochdalek hernia on Rt. side which was found incidentally during treatment of spontaneous pneumothorax of Rt. side. 17 year old female patient was admitted to CS department for chest discomfort on right and mild dyspnea with duration of 20 days. Under the diagnosis of spontaneous pneumothorax, Rt. closed thoracostomy and underwater sealed drainage with continuous suction was applied. On follow-up chest x-ray, poorly defined hazy increased density with multiple air-fluid levels in Rt. lower lung field and Lt. subphrenic free air were noted. So, Barium enema was done under the impression of Rt. diaphragmatic hernia, and nearly entire colon proximal to sigmoid was demonstrated in the Rt. hemithorax. Operation was done-for surgical repair of defected diaphragm through Rt. posterolateral thoracotomy. Operative findings were as follows; 1.Hypoplastic Rt. lung, esp. RML & RLL. 2.Nearly entirely intestines were herniated. 3.Diaphragmatic defect was located on posterolateral portion of the diaphragm, about 10x3cm in size with blunt smooth margin. 4.A large bleb on apex of RUL of lung. Herniated intestines were repaired into abdominal cavity manually and defect of diaphragm was repaired with No. I black silk interrupted sutures directly, and bleb was resected. Postoperative courses were uneventful and the patient was discharged with good condition on POD 14th.

We report a focal-length tunable liquid lens based on thermopneumatically driven fluidic pressure. The fluidic pressure is generated by deformation of an elastomeric diaphragm induced by thermopneumaticity from a laterally integrated microheater sealed within an air chamber. The pressure is transmitted by a confined liquid to a lens diaphragm through an internal fluid channel. The liquid filling under the lens diaphragm functions as a liquid lens for dynamic focusing with properties depending on the curvature of the deformed diaphragm. The diaphragm area of the air chamber is designed five times larger than that of the lens cavity to yield high focal-length tunability by amplified deflection of the lens diaphragm. With our method, we achieved excellent focal-length tunability from infinity (without an input current) to 4 mm (with an input current of 12 mA) with a lens aperture diameter of 2 mm.
The fan is widely used to cool high heat flux generated as of the electronic communication device consoles. It, however, makes a lot of noises that interfere considerably with the operation environment. This study was conducted to obtain the cooling design technology of the consoles through being equipped with the Heat Pipe Heat Exchangers (HPHE) together with low revolution fans in place of existing fans for the cooling technology of the forced convection. Not only the sealed type consoles but the HPHE were also designed so as to cool effectively the heat generated from the inside of the console. The simulation was conducted by computational numerical analysis along with its experiments. The results of the numerical analysis and experiments were compared in order to improve the cooling technology of the consoles mounted with the HPHE. Consequently, instead of loud fan noise generated as of existing forced convection methods, the cooling technology of HPHE can remarkably improve many problems such as the operation environment, indoor dust, malfunction caused by pollution sources and so on.
A high-temperature sodium stainless steel heat pipe was fabricated and its performance has been investigated. The working fluid was sodium and it was sealed inside a straight tube container made of stainless steel. The amount of sodium occupied approximately 20% of the total volume of the heat pipe and its weight was 65.7gram. The length of a stainless steel container is 1002mm and its outside diameter is 25.4mm. Performance tests were carried out in a room air condition under a free convective environment and the measured temperatures are presented. The start-up behavior of the heat pipe from a frozen state was investigated for various heat input values between 600W and 1205W. In steady state, axial temperature distributions of a heat pipe were measured and its heat transfer rates were estimated in the range of vapor temperature from 50$0^{\circ}C$ to 63$0^{\circ}C$. It is found that there are small temperature differences in the vapor core along the axial direction of a sodium heat pipe for the high operating temperatures. But for the range of low operating temperatures there are large temperature drops along the vapor core region of a sodium heat pipe, because a small vapor pressure drop makes a large temperature drop. The transition temperature was reached more rapidly in the cases of high heat input rate for the sodium heat pipe.

The paper presents some results regarding the obtaining of some copper heat pipes with a porous copper internal layer for electronic components cooling. The heat pipes were realized by sintering of spherical copper powders of $90{\div}125\;{\mu}m$ size directly on the internal side of a copper pipe of 18 mm in diameter. The obtained pipes were then brazed in order to obtain a heat pipe of 0.5 m in length. After that, the heat pipe was sealed and filled with a small quantity of distilled water as working fluid. To establish the total heat transport coefficient and the thermal flow transferred at the evaporator, some external devices were realized to allow the heating of the evaporator and the cooling of the condenser. Water heat pipes are explored in the intermediate temperature range of 303 up to 500 K. Test data are reported for copper water heat pipe, which was tested under different orientations. The obtained results show that the water heat pipe has a good thermal transfer performance in the temperatures range between 345 and 463 K.

A computational study of combined thermal and solutal convection (double diffusive convection) in a sealed crystal growth reactor is presented, based on a two-dimensional numerical analysis of the nonlinear and strongly coupled partial differential equations and their associated boundary conditions. The average Nusselt numbers for the source regions are greater than those at the crystal regions for 9.73 × 103 ≤ Grt ≤ 6.22 × 105. The average Nusselt numbers for the source regions varies linearly and increases directly with the thermal Grashof number form 9.73 × 103 ≤ Grt ≤ 6.22 × 105 for aspect ratio, Ar (transport length-to-width) = 1 and 2. Additionally, the average Nusselt numbers for the crystal regions at Ar = 1 are much greater than those at Ar = 2. Also, the occurrence of one unicellular flow structure is caused by both the thermal and solutal convection, which is inherent during the physical vapor transport of Hg2Br2. When the aspect ratio of the enclosure increases, the fluid movement is hindered and results in the decrease of thermal buoyancy force.

Object of this study were to determine the influence of collection times of rumen fluid on in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) of forage crops. The donor cow was fed concentrate once a day and given free access to grass-legume mixture hay. Main plot was consisted of different collection time of rumen fluid; T1: 1 hour before concentrate feeding, T2: 1 hour after feeding, T3: 4 hour after feeding and T4: 8 hour after feeding. A total of 7 samples of 4 different forage crops (barely, Italian ryegrass, crimson clover, rye) were used for the estimation of IVDMD and tested in three replicates. For the $DAISY^{II}$ incubation, each sample was inserted into each filter bag then heat-sealed and incubated in a digestion vessel for 48 h at $39^{\circ}C$. The times of rumen fluid collection had no significant effect on the IVDMD values over all varieties except for 2 breeds of IRG (Kogreen and Kospeed). IVDMD values with T1 over all varieties were slightly higher than other treatments, however those with both T1 of Kogreen and Kospeed varieties were significantly higher than T2 (p<.05).

Spark discharge in water generates shockwaves which have been utilized to generate mechanical actuation for potential use in pumping application. Discharge pulses of several microseconds generate shockwaves and vapor bubbles which subsequently displace the water for a period of milliseconds. Through the use of a sealed discharge chamber and metal bellow spring, the fluid motion can be used create an oscillating linear actuator. Continuous actuation of the bellow has been demonstrated through the use of high frequency spark discharge. Discharge in water forms a region of high electric field around the electrode tip which leads to the creation of a thermal plasma channel. This process produces fast thermal expansion, vapor and bubble generation, and a subsequent shockwave in the water which creates physical displacement of the water [1]. Previous work was been conducted to utilize the shockwave effect of spark discharge in water for the inactivation of bacteria, removal of mineral fouling, and the formation of sheet metal [2-4]. Pulses ranging from 25 to 40 kV and 600 to 900 A are generated inside of the chamber and the bellow motion is captured using a slow motion video camera. The maximum displacements measured are from 0.7 to 1.2 mm and show that there is a correlation between discharge energy input to the water and the displacement that is generated. Subsequent oscillations of the bellow are created by the spring force of the bellow and vapor in the chamber. Using microsecond shutter speed ICCD imaging, the development of the discharge bubble and spark can be observed and measured.
The Murzuk Basin covers an area in excess of $350,000{\cal}km^2$, and is one of several intra-cratonic sag basins located on the Saharan Platform of North Africa. Compared with some of these basins, the Murzuk Basin has a relatively simple structure and stratigraphy, probably as a result of it's location on a the East Saharan Craton. The basin contains a sedimentary fill which reaches a thickness of about $4,000{\cal}m$ in the basin centre. This fill can be divided into a predominantly marine Paleozoic section, and a continental Mesozoic section. The principal hydrocarbon play consists of a glacial-marine sandstone reservoir of Cambro-Ordovician age, sourced and sealed by overlying Silurian shales. The present day borders of the basin are defined by tectonic uplifts, each of multi-phase generation, and the present day basin geometry bears little relation to the more extensive Early Palaeozoic sedimentary basin within which the reservoir and source rocks were deposited. The key to the understanding of the Cambro-Ordovician play is the relative timing of oil generation compared to the Cretaceous and Tertiary inversion tectonics which influenced source burial depth, reactivated faults and reorganised migration pathways. At the present day only a limited area of the basin centre remains within the oil generating window. Modelling of the timing and distribution of source rock maturity uses input data from AFTA and fluid inclusion studies to define palaeo temperatures, shale velocity work to estimate maximum burial depth and source rock geochemistry to define kinetics and pseudo-Ro. Migration pathways are investigated through structural analysis. The majority of the discovered fields and identified exploration prospects in the Murzuk Basin involve traps associated with high angle reverse faults. Extensional faulting occurred in the Cambro-Ordovician and this was followed by repeated compressional movements during Late Silurian, Late Carboniferous, Mid Cretaceous and Tertiary, each associated with regional uplift and erosion.

This paper provides the results of numerical and theoretical predictions of oil outflows from damaged single-hull and double-hull ships.Theoretical equations derived from the unsteady Bernoulli equation and a CFD method for multi-phase flow analysis were used to estimate the oil outflow rate from cargo tank. The predicted oil outflow rate from a single-hull cargo tank damaged due to grounding and collision accidents showed a good agreement with the available experimental results in both numerical and theoretical analyses. However, in the case of the double-hull conditions, the time variation of the amount of water and oil mixture inside the ballast tank predicted by the theoretical equation showed some different behavior from the numerical results. The reason was that the interaction of the oil flow with the water inflow in the ballast tank was not reflected in the theoretical equations. In the problems of the initial pressure condition in the cargo and ballast tanks, the oil outflow and water inflow were delayed at the pressure condition that the tanks were sealed. When the flow interaction between the oil and water in the ballast tank was less complicated, the theoretical and the numerical results showed a good agreement with each other.
