The purpose of this study is to explore family relations of the Elderly influencing adjustment of the Elderly. The Sample was selected from elderly women who are older than 65years living in Seoul. Total sample consisted of 324 elderly women(married women 155, widow 169) finally selected datum sources. Factor analysis, frequency distribution, percentile, Anova, Pearson's Correlation and Stepwise multiple regression were used to take statistics. The main resluts were as follows: 1. The score of the adjustment of urban elderly woman was normal. 2. General characteristic variables such as age, self-reported health, financial status and supply of living expenses have turned out to be significant on the adjustment of the elederly women. 3. General satisfaction of married life, among the subordinate dimensions of the aging Couple relationships, has influence of the adjustment of the elderly women. 4. Among the old parent-Adult children relationships, subjective solidarity and consensual solidarity have influence on the adjustement of the aged. Besides the above two solidarity, objective solidarity has influence on the adjustment, in the case of widow. 5. Among the grandmother-grandchildren relationships, discipliner relations and material provider relations have influence on the adjustment of the married old women. Besides the above two solidarity, surrogate parenting relation have influence on the adjustment, in the case of widow.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine levels of pain, depression, and adjustment to military life in soldier who experienced low back pain, in order to produce fundamental data for the development of health improvement programs to prevent and manage low back pain in soldiers with low back pain. Methods: Subjects of this study consisted of 317 soldiers who had low back pain. Study instruments were Visual analog scale (VAS), the Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression Scale (CES-D), and adjustment to military life scale. Collected data were analyzed by the SPSS Win 14.0 program. Results: Mean score of pain was 4.16 points, depression was 8.58 points, and adjustment to military life was 69.15 points. The level of pain was negatively related to adjustment to military life (r=-.241, p<.001) and positively related to depression (r=.262, p<.001). There was a negative relationship between depression and adjustment to military life (r=-.442, p<.001). Conclusion: Soldiers who had low back pain experienced higher levels of pain and depression and lower level of adjustment to military life. Therefore, further study is needed to develop and examine a nursing intervention to manage low back pain for them.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relation between self differentiation and school adjustment among adolescents. Methods: The subjects were 356 adolescents. The following research questions were established. The adolescents' self differentiation level was measured based on Bowen's family system theory modified for Korean adolescents(Je, 1989) and their school adjustment level was measured with developed for Korean adolescents(Park, 1998). Collected data were analyzed by Mean${\pm}$SD, t-test, ANOVA and Schefff and Pearson correlation coefficient (SPSS 12.0). Results: 1. The mean score for the level of self differentiation was $99.99{\pm}11.58$ and school adjustment was $63.52{\pm}8.80$. 2. The self differentiation level was different according to father's education and monthly income. The school adjustment level was different according to glade, sex father's education and father's occupation. 3. Self differentiation had a significant positive correlation with school adjustment. Conclusion: The self differentiation level was confirmed to have an influence on school adjustment. We need to develop a program that can enhance adolescents' self differentiation.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among stress, ego-resilience and school adjustment resilience of the high school girl students. A cross-sectional, descriptive study was conducted. The subjects were 250 students from 3 high schools located in I city. Data were collected on September, 2010 by using a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed using PASW/WIN 18.0 program. The mean score of stress was 3.05, among the subitems, the score of the school related stress was the highest. The mean score of ego resilience was 2.86, and school adjustment resilience was 75.58. Stress showed significant differences according to satisfaction level with school and teachers. School adjustment resilience was significantly different in terms of satisfaction level with school and teachers, grade, alcohol drinking experience and having counter sex friends. And there were significant correlations among school adjustment resilience and school related, family related, friend related stress. These results suggest that the school life, teachers, and friends have important duties to improve school adjustment resilience. Therefore, it is needed to develop intervention program considerated school related factors to release stressors of the high school girl students.

Background : Many of internists have been working for insurance industry. Insurance medicine is use of medical knowledge for insurance industry. There is social role of insurance medicine in terms of soundness of insurance administration. Recently social role of internists also have been being watched. Although theme of insurance medicine is medical risk selection, insurance claims administration also needs medical experts'opinion. There are not any corroborative study of medical consulting for insurance claims. Among insurance industry, someone called this medical review of insurance claims as 'medical claims review'. Aim : To investigate usefulness of medical review of insurance claims. Design : Questionnaire survey with claim staffs in one of insurance claim adjustment company in Korea. Methods : 265 claim staffs were divided into 4 groups and conducted survey using a questionnaire of 20 questions. Utility score, job satisfaction score, and difficult factors of claims administration were measured. Results : Utility score and job satisfaction score are highest in medical claims review group. The most difficult in claim administration to claim staffs was demonstrated to medical knowledge. Conclusion : Medical review of insurance claims is proved to be worthy. Document-based consulting method, namely medical claims review, is more useful than telephone-based simple query among claim staffs...Subjects of the medical claims review are medical record and it's principle is independent medical examination with evidence-based approach, it also has role of protecting fraud of insurance claims. Two main question types of medical claims review are verification and advice.
Purpose: This study was to explore the psychosocial adjustment, marital intimacy and family support of post-mastectomy patients. Methods: The subjects were 90 post-mastectomy patients (stage I or II) who were eligible and agreed to participate in the study. The data collection period was from March to May, 2008. Subjects completed a survey including demographics, psychosocial adjustment scale by Lee (a 4-point Likert scale), marital intimacy scale by Kim (a 4-point Likert scale), and family support by Shim (a 5-point Likert scale). Data were analyzed using SAS (ver 9.0) program and frequency, mean (SD), t-test, ANOVA and Pearson correlation coefficients were used. Results: The mean scores of the psychosocial adjustment and marital intimacy were 2.8 (${\pm}0.4$) and 2.5 (${\pm}0.5$). Also, the mean score of the family support was 3.6 (${\pm}0.7$). Regarding the correlation between the psychosocial adjustment, marital intimacy and family support, there was a positive correlation. Conclusion: These results showed that subjects who had higher marital intimacy and family support showed better in psychosocial adjustment. To improve psychosocial adjustment of post-mastectomy patients for breast cancer more effectively, there is an necessity to provide various strategic supports and intervention for effective communication with spouse and family.

Purpose: This study was performed to identify the effect of admission type on college adaptation and academic achievement in one nursing school in order to refine the entrance selection system. Methods: Subjects were 405 nursing students (female : male = 385 : 20, first grade = 155, second grade = 138, third grade = 112). They were given the Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire (SACQ) purchased from Western Psychological Service. SACQ is composed of 67 questions and subdivided into 4 subcategories: academic adjustment, social adjustment, personal-emotional adjustment, and attachment. Student college adaptation scores and academic achievements were analyzed with reference to the entrance selection system (rolling admission vs. regular admission) by SPSS 22.0. The rolling admission system recruited students based on high school records only while the regular admission system was based on both high school records and the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT). Results: Total College adaptation score, personal-emotional adjustment score, and academic achievement were higher in regular-admission students than in those admitted through rolling admission. Academic achievement for first-grade students was higher in regular-admission students than for those admitted through rolling admission, But the difference in academic achievement became null as students were promoted to the second and third grades. Conclusion: Students recruited using both high school records and the CSAT showed better college adaptation and higher academic achievement.
The purpose of this study was to construct model of sexual adjustment in people with spinal cord injury and to determine factors that relate to sexual adjustment using methodological triangulation. A total of 134 persons who were registered members of spinal cord injury organization and admitted rehabilitation unit in the hospital were included in the study. Participants answered questionnaire concerning importance of life events, sexual concern, sexual adjustment. Qualitative data were collected through semi-structured indepth interviews from 10 individuals with spinal cord injury who were previously included in the quantitative study. Constant compatative method was used to analyze the data. The results were as follows : 1) With respect to eleven other areas of life, sex life ranked the sixth and economic status ranked the highest in terms of importance. However social life ranked the lowest among the 11areas. 2) Among seven topics related to sexuality were methods and techniques to achieve sexual satisfaction, and helping a partner cope emotionally with limitation on sexual dysfunction was the second greastest. 3) The mean score for sexual adjustment was 19.47 which can be considered. 4) A process on how individuals with spinal cord injury adjust to their changed sexual life immerged from the qualitative data. It includs 4 stages: 'stage of loss' 'stage of endeavoring' 'stage of effort' and 'stage of adjustment'. Categories showing context for the action/interaction strategies were 'steadiness' and 'rediscovery as a sexual being'. There were three factors which may stimulate the adjustment process while the others may interrupt it. Those factors included personal matters, family matters and social matters. The individuals may follow each stage step by step but may go back to the previous step depending on the outcomes of their adjustment. 5) There were three factors which may stimulate the adjustment process while the others may interrupt it. This study was designed to provide the basic data of effective nursing intervention for alleviation of psychosocial adjustment of patients in mastectomy after identifying the correlation between the spouse support, self esteem and psychosocial adjustment. The study subjects were 83 postmastectomy patients who visited the outpatient clinic at 3 university hospitals in Taegu city from September 10, 1997 to October 16 1997. Data was collected by researcher and face to-face interview was conducted. Nam's spouse support scale(1987), Rosenberg's self esteem instrument (1965), Derogatis' Psychosocial Adjustment to Illness Scale were used. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, t -test and ANOVA with the SAS program. The results of this study were as follows: 1. The mean score for the spouse support of the subjects was 3.73, self esteem was 3.69 and psychosocial adjustment was 3.61points. 2. According to the patient's hope of breast reconstruction(t=2.04, p=0.0445), there was significant difference of self esteem. According to the patient's family number( t = 2.31, p = 0.0237), there was significant difference of the psychosocial adjustment. 3. Perceived spouse support and self esteem had statistically significant positive correlations(r= 0.5120, p=0.0001). Perceived spouse support and psychosocial adjustment had statistically significant positive correlations(r=0.4187, p=0.0001). Perceived self esteem and psychosocial adjustment had statistically significant positive correlations(r = 0.6296, p=0.0001). Therefore, to increase the level of psychosocial adjustment of patients in mastectomy, it will be effective to supportive nursing intervention by improving spouse support and enhancing self esteem.
