The primary purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of Cognitive Factors (CF) on the Creative Abilities (CAs) in design. We set up a model of Cognitive Design Process (CDP), which consists of four domains: Concepts, Experience, Five Senses (FS), and Thinking Modes (TM). Here, experience is first perceived by the five senses, and then recognized by intelligence. We regard design as a transforming process from concept to experience. For this study, two major Sensory Modalities (Visual and Kinesthetic), four Thinking Modes (Brain Dominance Profile), and four Creative Abilities (Fluency, Flexibility, Originality, and Elaboration) were reviewed. We hypothesized that idea generation is influenced by different Sensory Modalities (Visual Sense vs. Kinesthetic Sense) and Thinking Modes, and that these have a close relationship with the attributes of CAs. Firstly, we have examined the cognitive thinking model in design. Then, we adapted the Test of Creative Abilities of Design Thinking (TCADT) for measuring CAs. We surveyed the CAs under CF in particular. Finally, we have investigated the influences of the different Sensory Modalities (Visual Sense vs. Kinesthetic Sense) on CAs. It was found that a close relationship between Brain Dominance and CAs, and Sensory Modalities (SM) have different influence on these creative abilities. As a result, a tool for the Test of CAs and a framework for creative idea generation with the effective CF will be presented. These provide the basis for a new approach to creative idea generation in Experience Design.
This study explored interpretation of the symbolical and metaphorical aesthetics in experiencing art/craft/handmade/studio furniture theoretically for 'wood culture experience class' or 'wood love experience class' by the Korea Forest Service because the class tends to focus on making simple wood works involved just in the practical part. Qualitative conceptual analysis as the principal methodology was used to achieve the theoretical context in the experience programs. After the lesson one on defining the postmodern aesthetics in New Design furniture as metaphor in the previous paper, I developed lesson two for an aesthetics of art and everyday life with wood furniture which expresses the metaphorical and symbolical aesthetics appeared as New Design furniture in postmodernism. As statement of objective in the second lesson, I explored that students in elementary schools personally transform and interpret the postmodern aesthetics of New Design furniture metaphorically with the meanings of symbol. As a result, the students will be able to write about the aesthetics of New Design furniture as metaphor in interpretation transformed by his/her perspective of a piece of selected New Design furniture.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe the lived experience of patients with heart transplantation in Korea. Methods: Individual indepth interviews and a focus group interview were used to collect the data from nine patients who had heart transplantations in 2015. All interviews were audio-taped and verbatim transcripts were made for the analysis. Data were analyzed using Colaizzi's phenomenological method. Results: Among the nine participants, eight were men. Mean age was 57.30 years. Six theme clusters emerged from the analysis. 'Joy of rebirth obtained by good luck' describes the pleasure and expectation of new life after narrow survival. 'Suffering from adverse drug effects' illustrates various psychosocial difficulties, such as low self-esteem, helplessness, alienation, and burnout, arising from the side effects of medications. 'Body and mind of being bewildered' illustrates disintegrated health and haunting fear of death. 'Alienation disconnected with society' describes isolated feeling of existence due to misunderstandings from society. 'Suffering overcome with gratitude and responsibility' includes overcoming experience through various social supports and suitable jobs. Finally, 'acceptance of suffering accompanied with new heart' illustrate changed perspective of life itself. Conclusion: The findings in this study provide deep understanding and insights of the lived experience of heart related illness for these patients and should help in the development of tailored-interventions for patients with heart transplantation.
Recent research reported that postpartum mothers showed different responses according to the type of delivery, and though most mothers preferred vaginal delivery to cesarean section, the numbers of negative comments about the delivery experience were higher in a vaginal delivery group than in a cesarean section group. This study set out to understand the meaning of vaginal delivery as perceived by mother who delivered their babies vaginally and how the mothers felt about their delivery experience. The subjects of this study were 17 primiparous mothers right after vaginal delivery in one university affiliated hospital. Date were collected from March to April, 1992 through interviews lasting 20∼30 minutes using open ended questions about the delivery experience. The data were analyzed by Giorgi's phenomenological analysis method and categorized according to similarity of countent. The meaning of the vaginal delivery was grouped in to four categories and the reason for vaginal in to three. One category of the meaning of vaginal delivery was pain, consisting of the subcategories too painful, want to be rid of the pain, unbearable pain and bearable pain. Another cutegory was a sense of accomplishment containing the subgroups wonderful, good and being finished, The third category was the feeling of becoming a mother The fourth category was that of not having any sense yet of the experience. The reasons for preference for vaginal delivery to a cesarean section were categorized in to the instinctive thinking that vaginal delivery was the natural method, a shortened period of recovery and a lower incidence of complications and a stronger feeling of maternal identity.
Purpose: Understanding daily life experiences of patients admitted to hospital with recurrent breast cancer. Methods: The grounded theory method was used for this study. Results: Consistent comparative analysis was used throughout the study to obtain the results. Results showed that inpatients with recurrent breast cancer experience 'a co-existence of life suffering and fear of death'. The causal condition of this result was determined to be 'patient's response to cancer recurrence (acceptance/despair)', including contextual conditions such as, 'previous experience with cancer treatment', 'patient's current physical condition', and 'treatment methods for recurrent cancer'. Intervening conditions, such as 'a strong will to live', 'family support', 'moral support providers', and action/interaction strategies were found to provide patients with 'a strength to live'. Shown in these results, inpatients with recurrent breast cancer were seen to have a simultaneous 'hope for life and fear of death'. Conclusion: When providing nursing services to inpatients with recurrent breast cancer, people must recognize there is a notable difference between individual patients' contextual conditions and interactive strategies. Henceforth, proper cognitive nursing must be provided which encourages patients to maintain a strong will to overcome the many hardships of treatment as well as physical nursing, such as management of side effects caused by chemotherapy.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to develop a situation-specific theory to explain the disease management experience of patients with asthma. Methods: Twenty participants with asthma were selected using the theoretical sampling method. The data were acquired through in-depth interviews conducted from June to October 2018 and analyzed using the grounded theory approach of Strauss and Corbin. Results: In total, 69 concepts, 30 subcategories, and 13 categories were generated to explain the disease management experience of patients with asthma. The core category of the disease management experience of patients with asthma was 'management of the disease to prevent aggravation of symptoms over the lifetime'. The disease management process of asthma patients included three steps: the 'cognition phase', the 'adjustment phase', and the 'maintenance phase'. However, some patients remained in the 'stagnation phase' of disease management, which represents the result of the continual pursuit of risky health behavior. There were three types of disease management experiences among patients with asthma: 'self-managing', 'partially self-managing', and 'avoidant'. Conclusion: This study shows that patients with asthma must lead their disease management process to prevent exacerbation of their symptoms. It is imperative to develop nursing strategies and establish policies for effective disease management of patients with asthma based on their individual disease management processes and types.

Korea government declared that "low carbon, green growth" through green technologies and clean energy to be the new national vision for the next 60 years(President's Liberation Day speech on Aug. 15, 2008). And succeeding "Green New Deal" plan involves nine core projects including energy saving, recycling, clean energy development. It is because hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, using electricity from chemical reaction of hydrogen and oxygen, let out water which is a by-product of such chemical reaction instead of emitting harmful particulate and gases such as NOX, SOX and CO2 that hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and its technology are drawing public attention as one of the sensible solutions in accomplishing "low carbon, green growth" agenda. Nevertheless There are many chances that let the people have a practical experience of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. Sometimes new products, including hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, made by advanced technology can not penetrate through the market when it faces public skepticism that is stimulated from lack of knowledge and experience. That is the reason why not only cost benefit analyses and scientific risk assessments but also public acceptance studies toward hydrogen fuel cell vehicles have to be performed [Schulte, 2004]. This research address a need for comprehensive study on factors influencing public acceptance of hydrogen fuel cell car, specifically focusing on impacts of personal experience related to governmental science and technology policy toward public acceptance.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand the effects of verbal violence experience, social support, and coping patterns on job stress among operating room(OR) nurses. Methods: The participants were 214 operating room nurses in general hospitals. Data were collected from April 1st to May 1st in 2013 and were analyzed using a multiple regression. Results: The most influencing factor on job stress for OR nurses was verbal violence experience from doctor(${\beta}=.35$), and verbal violence experience from nurse (${\beta}=.27$) followed. Social support from co-workers was a significant factor in decreasing job stress (${\beta}=-.22$). Those three factors explained 43.0% (F=54.76, p<.001) of OR nurses' job stress. Conclusion: The findings of this study revealed that doctors' and nurses' verbal violence increased job stress of OR nurses and social support from co-workers was found decreasing OR nurses' job stress. The results of the study provides an necessity for developing an effective program for minimizing job stress of OR nurses caused by work place verbal violence.
Purpose: This study examined the effectiveness of a forest-experience-integration intervention in community dwelling cancer patients. Methods: The study was done with a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of the present study were 53 community dwelling cancer patients who were registered in a community health center in Gyeongsangbuk-do. The subjects were divided into an experimental group (n=26) who participated in the forest-experience-integration intervention and a control group (n=27) who did not participate. Data were collected from May to June in 2011. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS PC+ 19.0 through $x^2$ test, and independent t-test. Results: There were significant differences between the groups in depression (t=-4.51, p<.001), self-regulation resilience (t=6.95, p<.001), interpersonal resilience (t=10.10, p<.001), positivity resilience (t=9.67, p<.001), and total resilience (t=13.93, p<.001) measurements. Conclusion: The forest- experience-integration intervention delivered to community dwelling cancer patients was an effective method for relieving depression and enhancing self-regulation resilience, interpersonal resilience, positivity resilience, and total resilience, and can be utilized as an effective nursing intervention for community dwelling cancer patients.
