아동의 음악 인지 : 음악의 동일성·유목화·서열화 인지 비교 (Children's Music Cognition: Comparison of Identification, Classification, and Seriation in Music Tasks)

  • This studied investigated children's music identification, classification, and seriation cognitive task performance abilities by age and sex. The subjects were l20 six-, eight-, and ten-year-old school children. There were significant positive correlations among music cognition tasks and significant age and sex differences within each of the music tasks. Ten-year-old children were more likely to complete their music identification tasks than the younger children and girls were more likely than boys to complete their music identification tasks. Eight- and 10-year-old children were more likely to complete their music classification tasks than the younger group. Piagetian stage theory was demonstrated in children's music classification task performance. There was an age-related increase in the performance of the music seriation tasks. Developmental sequential theory was demonstrated in music seriation performance.

Metalinguistic Awareness in Children with Specific Language Impairment

  • The purpose of the present study was to investigate the characteristics of metalinguistic awareness of children with specific language impairment. Forty-five children participated in this study; 15 children with specific language impairment (SLI group) whose range of the language age was 4;6-6;6, 15 normal children chronological age matched (CA controls) and 15 normal children language age matched with the SLI group (CA controls). A metalinguistic task involving the identification and revision of syntactic, semantic, and phonologic errors was used. The SLI group performed significantly poorer than CA controls as well as LA controls in identifying and correcting error sentences, especially sentences with syntactic error. These results revealed the relation between language problems of children with SLI and metalinguistic abilities.

시설 보호 아동의 기질과 사회적 지지가 희망에 미치는 영향 (Temperament and Social Support in Relation to Hope of Institutionalized Children)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 시설 보호 아동이 지각한 희망의 일반적 경향을 살펴보고, 아동의 기질과 사회적 지지가 희망에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보는 것이다. 서울 소재 아동복지양육시설에서 생활하고 있는 초등학교 고학년생 198명을 연구대상으로 하여 일반적 특성과 기, 사회적 지지, 희망에 대해 자기보고식 질문지를 이용해 평가하였다. 수집된 자료는 신뢰도 분석, t 검증, 단순상관분석, 다중회귀분석을 이용해 분석하였다. 그 결과, 첫째, 시설 보호 아동이 지각한 희망은 중간 수준 이상으로 나타났고, 아동의 성에 따라 차이가 없었지만, 아동의 나이가 많을수록 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 시설 보호 아동의 나이가 많을수록, 친구, 시설가족, 학교교사의 지지를 많이 받을수록 희망이 높게 나타났으며, 아동의 기질은 희망에 의미있는 영향을 미치지 않았다. 셋째, 동기적 측면인 희망주도에는 친구의 지지가, 수단적 측면인 희망경로에는 시설가족과 학교교사의 지지가 상대적으로 큰 영향을 미쳤다.

Different Clinical Features and Lower Scores in Clinical Scoring Systems for Appendicitis in Preschool Children: Comparison with School Age Onset

  • Purpose: To clarify the clinical features of appendicitis in preschool children and to explore clinical appendicitis scoring systems in this age group. Methods: We retrospectively collected data on 142 children, aged 10 years or younger, with confirmed diagnosis of appendicitis based on surgical and pathologic findings. Enrolled subjects were divided into two groups: Group 1 (preschool children aged ${\leq}5$ years, n=41) and Group 2 (school children aged >5 to ${\leq}10$ years, n=101). Data analyzed included clinical presentation, laboratory findings, the pediatric appendicitis score (PAS), and the modified Alvarado score (MAS). Results: The most common presenting symptom was abdominal pain in both groups (92.7% vs. 97.0%). Other presenting symptoms were as follows: fever (65.9%), vomiting (68.3%), right lower quadrant (RLQ) localization (24.4%), anorexia (14.6%), and diarrhea (7.3%) in Group 1, and RLQ localization (74.3%), vomiting (71.3%), anorexia (52.5%), fever (47.5%), and diarrhea (11.9%) in Group 2. Perforation and abscess occurred more frequently in Group 1 than in Group 2 (43.9% vs. 12.9%, p<0.001; 34.1% vs. 5.0%, p<0.001; respectively). PAS and MAS were lower in Group 1 than in Group 2 ($4.09{\pm}1.97$ vs. $6.91{\pm}1.61$, p=0.048; $4.65{\pm}1.79$ vs. $6.51{\pm}1.39$, p=0.012; respectively). Conclusion: In preschool children, appendicitis often presents with atypical features, more rapid progression, and higher incidence of complications. This age group is more likely to have lower PAS and MAS than those of school children.

학교 급식이 일부 학령기 아동의 혈액성상에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of School Lunch Program on The Blood Composition of The School Children)

  • This study conducted to investigate the effect of school lunch prgram on the blood composition of 50 children at the age 11 to 12 years old. Concentration of serum total protein, albumin, zinc and copper were measured at the begining of school lunch program(pre-feeding group) and at the one year later taken school lunch program(post-feeding group). Serum total protein and albumin concentrations in post-feeding group were higher than those in pre-feeding group, but showed no significant difference between groups. While serum zinc and copper concentrations in post-feeding group were significantly lower than those in pre-feeding group. Results indicated that school lunch program effective for improvement of potein nutrition in school children and it is nessessary futher investigation to disease the concentrations of serum zinc and copper in this age.

한국아동(韓國兒童)의 친척명(親戚名) 인지(認知) (Cognition of Korean Kinship Name : Investigating the Children's Recognition of Cognate Group Ranges)

  • The cognition of Korean kinship names was examined in children in the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 9th grades (N=188) of public school. The task consisted of 43 items which identified the relative relationships of cognates and cognates-in-law. It was found that the main effects of age and residential area on cognition scores were significant and the interaction effects between the variables were also significant. As expected, older children performed the task more precisely than the younger children and children in Seoul performed better than in outlying regions. Under 15 years of age, the scores in Seoul were higher than in Andong, but at the age of l5, this trend was reversed. The gap between residential areas under 15 years of age could be explained by differences in cognitive ability and test effects, but the gap at 15 by culture.

Maxillary first molar wear: a longitudinal study of children

  • The aim of this study is to examine the correlation between tooth wear and age by quantitatively measuring maxillary first molar wear in children. A total of 150 maxillary dental models were analyzed in 30 subjects (male, 11; female, 19) with an age range of 6-14 years. Maxillary first molar wear were assessed based on area, volume and the shortest distance from the buccal occlusal plane to the central pit point (BCPH). The area and volume of the tooth cusps were measured at four different offset-plane heights (0.2, 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8 mm). Relationship between age and the amount of wear or BCPH were statistically analyzed. Correlation and regression analyses were also performed, and age estimation was obtained with linear regression analysis. Repeated measures analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed significant differences between age and the amount of wear based on area, volume, and offset-plane height. Except age of 8 and 10, 12 and 14's 0.2-mm offset-plane-measured volume, all area and volume measurement of all ages and offset-plane height showed a significant amount of increase. Wear speeds were calculated using the BCPH. Among age and measurement variables, the correlation coefficient was strongest when the volume was measured from the 0.4-mm offset-plane. As age increases, the amount of wear, as quantified by area and volume measurements, also increases. According to this study, a regression equation that can be used for age estimation is follows: Age $(y)=0.16{\times}0.4V+0.85$ ($R^2=0.490$) using volume.

초등학교 여자 아동의 신체 성장에 따른 한복 리폼 디자인 개발 (A Study of Female Child's Han-bok Reform Design for Body Growth)

  • The purpose of this study is to female child Han-bok reform design for body growth. Nowadays there is common the western style daily life and special day instead of traditional style Han-bok in Korea. So the decrease in the use of Han-bok have being appeared. Specially, Children's Han-bok undesirable clothes for economic, environment, and resources because of their rapid growth and changing trend. Therefor, they do away with used Han-bok without next buying of school age. Children's parents and children are decision together purchase of children's Han-bok on-line for pleasure and economic reasons on pre-school or 1st year student for their tradition-education class. After 2000year, children's Han-bok pup-up on e-market because of the fashion focus on tradition and Korean wave for parody of Korean drama. Flowing the Research of 2010 Size Korea, the elementary school age child height growth 6cm per year, the sleeve length are 3cm growth. But Chi-ma(a pice of Han-bok) from e-market, has only 5cm margin on shoulder and no margin on Jegori(a pice of Han-bok) shoulder and sleeve, reason of that the children can't wear next year. Therefor this study is development female child Han-bok reform design for body growth, for extend to wear Han-bok on school age children and flow tradition custom of Cho-sun Dynasty's clothing custom for boost tradition conscious and reduce of cloth waste for environment.

학령기 어머니의 가계소득과 교육소비욕구에 따른 사교육비와 경제적 노후준비 (The Expenses of Private Educations and Economic Preparations for Old Age According to Household Income and Consumption Wants for Education in Mothers with School-aged Children)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences in the expenses of private education and the economic preparations for old age according to household income and consumption wants for education in mothers with school-aged children. The data used in this study were collected from 416 mothers with school-aged children aged 8 to 19 years old living in Daegu. The data analysis methods adopted for the study were two-way ANOVA and Scheff$\acute{e}$ test. The results of this study were as follows: First, there were differences in the private education expenditure according to the household income and the consumption wants for education in mothers with school-aged children. In the group of mothers of low household income, the mothers with high consumption wants for education spent more money on academic education and music, fine arts or physical education than the mother's with low consumption wants for education. On the other hand, in the group of mothers of high household income, the mothers with low consumption wants for education spent more money on academic education and spent less money on music, fine arts or physical education than the mothers with high consumption wants for education. There were no meaningful differences in the group of mothers of middle household income. Second, there were differences in the perceived burden of private education expenditure according to the household income and the consumption wants for education in mothers with school-aged children. In the group of mothers of middle household income, the mothers with low consumption wants for education perceived there was a higher burden for private education expenditure than the mothers with high consumption wants for education. Third, there were differences in the expenditure preparation for old age and the economic preparation behavior for old age according to the level of household income. The mothers with high household income spent more money on preparation for old age and did well in economic preparation behavior for old age than the mothers with middle and low household income.

유아-청소년 자녀를 둔 어머니의 행복감 영향 변인 : 자녀의 연령, 자녀수 및 어머니 행복 조건에 대한 인식 (The Variables Related to Maternal Happiness for Mothers of Young Children, School-Aged Children, and Adolescents : A Child's Age, the Numbers of Children, and Maternal Perceptions of the Conditions of Happiness)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a child's demographic variables and maternal perceptions of the conditions of happiness on their happiness for mothers. The participants of this study comprised 916 mothers of young children, school-aged children, and adolescents. The results revealed that a child's age and the numbers of children influenced maternal happiness when mothers' demographic variables were controlled. In addition, mothers who exhibited high degree of need in terms of the conditions of happiness regarding existence, relatedness, and growth were more likely to be happy than mothers who exhibited low degree of needs. Finally, the expectations regarding growth, which refers to the pursuit of self-accomplishment and meaning, was the most important predictor of maternal happiness. These findings have implications for parent education programs for mothers of young children, school-aged children, and adolescents.
