  • We demonstrate an optically compensated bend (OCB) cell with pixel-isolating polymer wall. The polymer wall is formed by anisotropic phase separation of LCs and UV-curable polymer. The fabricated cell is initially in ${\pi}-twisted$ state so that it shows uniform and fast bend transition without any transition nucleus. The proposed cell has lower driving voltage than conventional OCB cell. Also, the polymer wall provides mechanical stability, hence preventing distortion of display image from external pressure.

  • The purpose of the present study was to investigate the structural relationships between elementary teachers' mathematics instruction, teachers' mathematics teaching efficacy, students' mathematical interest, and mathematics achievement. To achieve this goal, we used TIMSS 2015 Korean data and implemented multilevel structural equation modeling given that student data were nested within the school data. The findings reveled that at the student level, the instructional quality rated by students positively affected student mathematical interest. Additionally, student mathematical interest positively affected student mathematics achievement. Although the direct effect of instructional quality on student mathematics achievement was insignificant, the total was significant. At the school level, there were positive direct effects of instructional quality and teacher's mathematics teaching efficacy on student mathematical interest. The direct effects of instructional quality, teachers' mathematics teaching efficacy, and student mathematical interest on mathematics achievement were not significant. However, the total effects of instructional quality and teachers' mathematics teaching efficacy on mathematics achievement were significant. Based on the results, we discussed the implications of the study.

  • This research was to understand the features of mathematization and didactical phenomenology, in a way that was not a routine calculation of equation, rather a complete comprehension by the reinventing historical principles of the equation. To achieve the purpose of this study, one-mate middle school student participated in the study. Interview and observation were used for collecting data during the student's performance. The results of research were: First, the student understood the mathematical concepts from a real life and developed the abstract concepts from it, which were very intimately related with his life. Second, the skill and formula definition were accomplished with the accompanying predicted and consequently derived mathematical concepts. Third, through the approach of using the history of mathematics, he became more interested in what he was doing and took lessons with confidence. Forth, the student performed his learning based on the historical reinventing principle under the proper guidance of a teacher.

  • The purpose of the study was to explore the relationships among the elementary school student's self-control, self-efficacy, and school life adjustment. For achieving the purpose, the study established three research questions: What are the relationships among self-control, self-efficacy, and school life adjustment, is there any statistically significant influence of self-control and self-efficacy on school life adjustment, and is there any mediating effect of self-efficacy in the relationship between self-control and school life adjustment, 276 fifth graders attending three elementary schools in Busan were administrated self-control scale, self-efficacy scale, and school life adjustment scale. The collected data was analyzed by correlation, stepwise multiple regression, and three-step regression analysis. And the regression analyses were separately performed on total and subscale scores. The main results were as the follows. First, there were statistically significant correlations among self-control, self-efficacy including two subscales, and school life adjustment including five subscales. Second, self-control and self-efficacy statistically and significantly influenced school life adjustment and five subscales. Finally, self-efficacy partially mediated the relationship between self-control and school life adjustment including five subscales. And discussions on the results were presented.

  • The goal of this study was to examine the relationship among students' personal variables(Korean language abilities, self-efficacy, student-teacher attachment relationships), teacher variable(perceptions of multi-cultural education) affecting on multi-cultural students' school adjustment. Structural equation modeling was performed to test the mediating role of self-efficacy and student-teacher attachment affecting multi-cultural students' school adjustment. 336 elementary students and their matching 264 elementary school teachers were participated for this study. The model fit for this study model was acceptable, =280.024, df=98, CFI=.930, RMSEA = .074. The results revealed that teacher's perceptions on multi-cultural education significantly related with student-teacher relationships. However, Korean language ability did not directly affect the school adjustment for multi-cultural background students. That is, self-efficacy and student-teacher relationships mediated between Korean language ability and school adjustment. Moreover student-teacher relationships seem to be the key mediating factor between other research variables and school adjustment. Further considerations and future directions based on results were discussed.

  • This paper is to inquiry into the conceptual model of religious education in school curriculum focused on 7th revised curriculum, subject matter and teacher training system. We have to consider the related variables for the operation of school curriculum: student, school, teacher. In school curricula of Korea, religious education can be practiced as a elective course of subject, discretion activity and special activity, latent curriculum etc. And also it should be considered student's right of option and autonomy of private school, because at least those are the important variables effect upon the religious education in school curriculum. Now I'd like to abstract results of this paper as followed. First, it should be considered student's right of option for religious education in private school curriculum. But at this case, also under the name of education it should be justified precondition of purpose, content, approach method. If not, it easy to access to pejorative meaning as a religious indoctrination. Second, in case of conflict between student and school, I think that a proper method is to adjust the related variables. Third, if the purpose of religious education in school based on religiosity, it can be cover the understanding of religious culture, affectionate domain of religiosity, behavioral religiosity. Finally, in order to accomplish such an conceptual model of religious education in school, it should be set a condition for teacher training system, subject matter etc.
