Prediction of the sop tissue changes following hard tissue movements is very important in the preoperative analysis of surgical changes of the patient who have orthognathic surgery. This study examined post operative changes of the mid-facial sop tissues in Koreans depending upon two major positional changes of the maxilla following Le Fort - I type osteotomy for orthognathic purposes. Sixty patients(41 males and 19 females) of Koreans were selected and divided into two groups according to directional change of movement of anterior bony structures of the Maxilla as follows : Group I (44 patients) was mooed anteriorly and/or inferiorly, and Group II (16 patients) was mooed posteriorly and/or superioly. Postoperative changes of the sop tissue measurements following hard tissue changes were examined on pre - and post - operative cephalometrics by means of computerized digitation methods and the ratios of changes were analysed. The results were obtained as follows : 1. In Group I, all of the sop tissue measures except the Pn was closely followed by the changes of the hard tissue measures in the horizontal plane, but the Sn and the Cm were only correlated to the vertical changes(p<0.001). In group II, all of the sop tissue measures excluding of the N' and the Pn were significantly correlated to the hard tissue measures in horizontal plane(p<0.001), but the Ls and Stm were only correlated relatively to the vertical changes of the ANS(p<0.01). 2. Predictable ratio of the Sn was 66% of the ANS or 56% of the A in the horizontal plane and 89% of the A in the vertical plane in Group I. In Group II, the Sn was predictable as 85% of the ANS or 70% of the A in the horizontal plane but was not predictable in vertical plane. 3. Predictable ratio of the Cm was 28% of the ANS or 50% of the A in the horizontal plane and 56% of the ANS or 36% of the A in the vertical plane in Group I. In Group II, the Cm was predictable horizontally as 74% of the A. Predictable ratio of the Pn was 30% of the ANS or 38% of the A in horizontal plane in Group I, but it was not predictable both horizontally and vertically in Group II. 4. Predictable ratio of the Ls was 52% of the Pr in Group I and 77% in Group II in the horizontal plane. The Stm was predictable as 34% of the pr or 22% of the I in the horizontal plane in Group I, and was also predictable as 55% of the pr or 68% of the I horizontally and 21% of the pr or 65% of the I vertically in Group II. 5. All ratios of change in the thickness. length and area of the upper lip following maxillary movement were statiscally correlated, however, mangitudes of them were meaningful clinically.

Background. 5-(and-6)-carboxy-2',7'-dichlorofluorescein diacetate, succinimidyl ester mixed (CFSE) is the fluorescent labelling agent of living cells and used to trace the cells in vivo after transplatnation of various cells. The CFSE labelled cells can maintain fluorescence for up to 7 days after labelling. The MC3T3-E1 cell line (MC3T3) has been used for many studies about osteoblast, which is well known as a mouse preosteoblast. So the CFSE would be used to trace the transplanted MC3T3. However there are few reports about CFSE labelling of MC3T3. This study is aimed to know about adequate concenturation and incubation time of CFSE to MC3T3. Materials and methods. The MC3T3 was incubated in a humidified atmosphere of 95% air with 5% $CO_2$ at $37^{\circ}C$ using ${\alpha}$-minimal essential medium (${alpha}$-MEM) containing10% FBS and gentamycin. Ten mM CFSE solution in dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO: 1%) was diluted with phosphate buffered saline (PBS) and final concentration of culture medium was, respectively, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 ${{\mu}M$. Then the MC3T3 was incubated with CFSE in a humidified atmosphere of 95% air with 5% $CO_2$ at $37^{\circ}C$ for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 minutes in each concentration. The fluorescence of CFSE labelled cells was analysed with a inverted fluorescence microscope. The duration of cell labelling was also studied. Trypan blue dye exclusion test was done for cell viability. Results. For concentration between 5 and 10 ${\mu}M$, CFSE did not significantly label the MC3T3 in vitro. The destruction of MC3T3 was observed at the concentration of 20 ${\mu}M$. In the concentration of 15 ${\mu}M$, the best labelling was obtained at an incubation period between 15 and 30 minutes. The MC3T3 labelled with an incubation period of 15 minutes at 15 ${\mu}M$ was still fluorescent 7 days after CFSE labelling. The mean cell viability was 95.93%. Conclusion. These results suggests an incubation period of 15 minutes at 15 ${\mu}M$ of CFSE provides best labelling of MC3T3 in vitro.
Over expression of TGF-${\beta}1$ revealed the same phenotype as NFI-C deficient mouse. It has been reported that NFI-C deficient mice demonstrated abnormal odontoblast differentiation and aberrant dentin formation during root development. In the present study, in order to investigate the histological differences between wild type (WT) mouse and NFI-C deficient mouse, we compared morphological characteristics and smad4 expression between those mice. Hematoxyline-eosin (H-E) staining was used to investigate morphological changes and immunohistochemistry was also performed to observe the Smad4 expression pattern. In H-E staining, incisor of NFI-C deficient mouse showed an open area in the lingual root, irregular odontoblasts and osteodentin. Also, NFI-C deficient mouse showed short root and osteodentin in molar. In addition, Smad4 protein was strongly expressed in NFI-C deficient mouse compared with wild type. These findings suggest that NFI-C deficiency affects odontoblast differentiation and result in the formation of abnormal roots. Therefore, balancing between NFI-C and TGF-${\beta}$ signaling including Smad4 is important for the regulation of normal odontoblast differentiation and dentin formation.

Therefore, it is recommended that the stress is being systematically reduced methods.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the tobacco cessation activities of the dental staffs in Wonju city. All 137 subjects were surveyed by structured questionnaire with convenience sampling. The distribution and correlation of attitude, behavior, and intervention were evaluated by both frequency test and ANOVA test. 75.2% of total subjects responded that the dental staff should give a model through prohibition of smoking and 66.5% responded that tobacco cessation activities should be responsibility of the dental staff. Tobacco cessation counsel was performed by little but with positive attitude. Advice method of tobacco cessation was used to counsel on tobacco cessation (68.6%). The dentists (48.2%) and dental hygienists (23.4%) were responded adequate for the tobacco cessation counselor, however, it was shown that the dentist had lower level of attitude about tobacco cessation than dental hygienist (p<0.01). The dental staff needs to participate in the tobacco cessation counseling program more regularly and actively. In order for the dental staffs gets the counsel effectively and intervene with tobacco cessation, it is essential that the education of tobacco cessation is integrated in dental school. Furthermore, it is necessary for the dental staffs to take continuing education for more effective understanding of tobacco cessation.

Various kinds of medical imaging devices have been studied to develop periapical radiography. However, there are some problems such as high x-ray exposure rate and pains for patients because of the problems caused by intra-oral sensor based radiography system. In this study, a new concept of periapical radiography, intra oral X-ray tube and detector system, is introduced to solve these problems. This system is made up of miniature X-ray tube based on subminiature thermal electron or cold electron, CMOS based detector, and a body including automatic position and system control devices. In order to confirm the possibility of proposed new concept to periapical radiography, miniature x-ray tube from XOFT corporation is used to develop new x-ray system, and the performance evaluation of this system is performed according to collimator. Also, dental images are compared after acquiring both images from existing system versus new concept of system. As a result, new concept of system showed excellent image. Thus, it is considered that new concept of system will have a significant effect on medical imaging technology.
Recently, the controversy continues as to whether maximum intercuspation of teeth should occur at the terminal hinge position(the condylar theory) or at the myo-co(the neuromuscular theory). There is also much controversy regarding the antero-posterior position of myo-co. The object of this study was to measure and compare with the positional relations of centric relation, centric occlusion and myo-co, and free-way space using Mandibular Kinesiograph and Myo-monitor in the 40 subjects without stomatognathic problems. Mandibular Kinesiograph(M.K.G.) was originally conceived as a research instrument to track mandibular movement and position. As its use in research progressed, its great diagnostic value became apparent in case by case. And Myo-monitor was developed as a means of applying the neuromuscular approach to occlusion. Thus the Myo-monitor technique is an intra-systemic approach to occlusal positioning using patient's own musculature, and Myo-monitor is used to relax the musculature by a light myopulse induced electronically. From this experiment, the following results were obtained. 1. The adaptive free-way space before muscle relaxation was an average of $1.6{\pm}60mm$, and the true free-way space after muscle relaxation using Myo-monitor was an average of $2.4{\pm}0.74mm$. 2. It took an average of $25{\pm}3.11$ minutes to relax the mandibular musculature by Myo-monitor and administration of 5mg. Diazepam and an average of $38{\pm}4.73$ minutes by Myo-monitor without administration of Diazepam. 3. Myo-co existed anterior to centric occlusion, with an average of $0.53{\pm}0.31$ mm, and centric relation existed posterior to centric occlusion, with an average of $0.57{\pm}0.58mm$ before muscle relaxation and with an average of $0.57{\pm}0.43mm$ after muscle relaxation. 4. Centric relation coincided with centric occlusion in 5 of 40 subjects(12.5%), and posterior to centric occlusion in the rest of cases (87.5%). 5. Myo-co existed anterior to centric occlusion in 38 of 40 subjects(95%), except 1 subject that coincided with centric occlusion and 1 subject that existed posterior to centric occlusion. 6. Myo-co and centric relation existed inferior to centric occlusion and the lateral displacement was various with individual difference. 7. The total displacement from centric occlusion to centric relation was an average of $0.74{\pm}0.64mm$ before muscle relaxation, and an average of $0.68{\pm}0.53mm$ after muscle relaxation, and the total displacement from centric occlusion to myo-co was an average of $1.07{\pm}0.58mm$.
Scaffolds of tissue engineering should be biocompatible and biodegradable for cell attachment, proliferation and differentiation. In the various scaffold fabrication, 3D printing technique can make the three dimensional scaffold with interconnected pores for cell ingrowth. Polycaprolactone (PCL) is biodegradable polyester with a low melting temperature and has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In this study, PCL scaffold was fabricated by 3D bioprinting system and surface modification of PCL scaffold was controlled by NaOH treatment. Morphological change and wetability of NaOH-treated scaffold were observed by SEM and contact angle measurement system. The remnant of PCL treated with NaOH was measured by ATR-FTIR. In vitro study of scaffolds was evaluated with WST-1 and ALP activity assay. NaOH treatment of PCL scaffolds increased surface roughness, hydrophilicity, cell proliferation and osteogenic differentiation. These results indicate that NaOH-treated PCL scaffold made by 3D bioprinting has tissue engineered potential for the development of biocompatible material.
Crosstalk between G-protein signaling and glutamatergic transmission within the brain reward circuits is critical for long-term emotional effects (depression and anxiety), cravings, and negative withdrawal symptoms associated with opioid addiction. A previous study showed that Regulator of G-protein signaling 4 (RGS4) may be implicated in opiate action in the nucleus accumbens (NAc). However, the mechanism of the NAc-specific RGS4 actions that induce the behavioral responses to opiates remains largely unknown. The present study used a short hairpin RNA (shRNA)-mediated knock-down of RGS4 in the NAc of the mouse brain to investigate the relationship between the activation of ionotropic glutamate receptors and RGS4 in the NAc during morphine reward. Additionally, the shRNA-mediated RGS4 knock-down was implemented in NAc/striatal primary-cultured neurons to investigate the role that striatal neurons have in the morphine-induced activation of ionotropic glutamate receptors. The results of this study show that the NAc-specific knock-down of RGS4 significantly increased the behaviors associated with morphine and did so by phosphorylation of the GluR1 (Ser831) and NR2A (Tyr1325) glutamate receptors in the NAc. Furthermore, the knock-down of RGS4 enhanced the phosphorylation of the GluR1 and NR2A glutamate receptors in the primary NAc/striatal neurons during spontaneous morphine withdrawal. These findings show a novel molecular mechanism of RGS4 in glutamatergic transmission that underlies the negative symptoms associated with morphine administration.
This study was aimed for bettering productivity and technical level of the dental 1 aboratory, and helping the dental technician's benefits and rights, and then endowing them some belonged atmospher and stability on their post by Improving job- satisfaction and maintaining the transferability of one's post at a proper limitation. Therefore, 320 dental technicians extracted randomly from all the technicians working at 494 dental laboratories were subjected for this study. The approach to the study was a way through some postal questionaires executed from March 29, 1988 until May 4, the same year, in which total 254 technicians answered, showing 79% resp"nserate. responserate. The data-analysis was done by a model of the dental technician's transferability from their post, as considering Mobley's(1978)-model of post-transferability, and results through the study are as follows : 1. Satisfaction at a given post showed that the married is better than the unmarried(<0.05), and the experienced is better than the inexperienced(P<0.01). 2. Age, sex, educational experience, and one's service-duration did not affect significantly to the respondent's satisfaction on their post, statistically. 3. Satisfaction at a given post differed in adccordance with given conditions of one's post, i. e.,it stowed high when the monthly payment was good(P<0.05), and when too much duty on their job was given, it was the worst as shown in an example of the next order, too much
