  • Scattering solutions of an H-plane T-junction in a parallel-plate waveguide are theoretically investigated. The iterative procedure and Green's function relation are used to obtain the iterative equations for the $E_{z}$ field modal coefficients, thus resulting in matrix solutions. The scattering characteristics of reflection and transmission powers are presented and compared with other existing results.s.

  • Radiative properties of alumina particles which is the main element of the plume from booster and kick motor used for increasing thrust and insertion into the orbit is analyzed. In order to derive the wavelength integrated (i.e., gray) emissivity, emission term in radiative transfer equation is rearranged to be able to tie up with the parameters induced from fundamental particle scattering Mie theory. Result shows that derived gray emissivity with optical properties increases with temperature rising.

  • An iterative Green's function method (IGFM) is introduced in order to analyze complex electromagnetic waveguide stub structures in view of a university student. The IGFM utilizes a Green's function approach and an regional iteration scheme. A physical iteration mechanism with simple mathematical equations facilitates clear formulations of the IGFM. Scattering characteristics of a standard E-plane T-junction stub in a parallel-plate waveguide are theoretically investigated in terms of the IGFM. Numerical computations illustrate the characteristics of reflection and transmission powers versus frequency.

  • Natural convection and radiation heat transfer in a square enclosure containing absorbing, emitting, and isotopically scattering(participating) media is studied numerically using the finite volume method. Various numerical methods are employed to analyze the radiative heat transfer. However, it is very difficult to choose the proper method. In present study, a finite volume method(FVM) and a discrete ordinates method(DOM) are compared in rectangular enclosure. The SIMPLER algorithm is used to solve the momentum and energy equations. Thermal and flow characteristics are investigated according to the variation of radiation parameters such as optical thickness and scattering albedo. The result shows that the accuracy and the computing time of FVM are better than those of DOM in regular geometry.

  • Photoelectrochemical solar cells such as dye-sensitized cells (DSSCs), which exhibit high performance and are cost-effective, provide an alternative to conventional p-n junction photovoltaic devices. However, the efficiency of such cells plateaus at 11~12%, in contrast to their theoretical value of 33%. The majority of research has focused on improving energy conversion efficiency of DSSC by controlling nanostructure and exploiting new materials in photoelectrode consisting of semiconducting oxide nanoparticles and a transparent conducting oxide electrode (TCO). In this presentation, we introduce monodisperesed TiO2 nanoparticles prepared by forced hydrolysis method and their superiority as photoelectrode materials was characterized with aids of optical and electrochemical analysis. Inverse opal-based scattering layers containing highly crystalline anatase nanoparticles are also introduced and their feasibility for use as bi-functional light scattering layer is discussed in terms of optical reflectance and charge generation properties as a function of optical wavelength.

  • In this paper, waveguide banpass filters using H-plane step discontinuities are designed based on the field theory analysis and optimization of the resonator lengths as well as dimensions of discontinuities, instead of the conventional synthesis method based on the equivalent circuit. The waveguide inductive obstacles introduced by H-plane step discontinuities analyzed using mode-matching method and the generalized scattering parameters are derived. Using the derived scattering parameters of the discontinuities as well as those of resonators, waveguide bandpass filters are designed through optimization method, modified Razor search method proposed by J.H.Bandler. Using this design procedures, waveguide bandpass filters are designed and tested at X-band(center frequency 10GHz) as well as Ka-band(center frequency 35GHz).

  • An analysis method for the electromagnetic scattering of a gaussian beam wave by finite periodic conducting strip grating on a groudned dielectric slab is considered. The intergral equation for the unknown current induced on the conducting strip surface is derived and solbed numerically by use of the method of moment. From knowledge of the strip current, the quantities of interest such as radiation pattern, the space wave power radiated into the free space, and the coupled surface wave power propagating along the dielectric slab are computed for the appropriately chosen parametes Some similarity between scattering behaviours of the present geometry and the infinite geometry is examined by observing the Off-bragg as well as bragg blaxing penomena in both geometries. The validity of the numerical results are assured by a check of the power conservation relations.

  • The electromagnetic wave scattering problems from inhomogeneous material bodies are considered. The formulation is made in terms of mixed potentials for the moment methods (MoM). The surfaces of a three-dimensional inhomogeneous scatterer of arbitrary shape are divide into triangular patches for descretization. Application of the boundary conditions leads to the coupled surface integral equations to be satisfied for the unknown surface equivalent electric and magnetic currents. The radar cross-section (RCS) for some structures is computed and the results are compared with the reported data.

  • In this Paper, we propose a time-domain magnetic field integral equation (TD-MFIE) formulation for analyzing the transient electromagnetic response from three-dimensional (3-D) dielectric bodies. The solution method in this paper is based on the Galerkin's method that involves separate spatial and temporal testing procedures. Triangular patch basis functions are used for spatial expansion and testing functions for arbitrarily shaped 3-D dielectric structures. The time-domain unknown coefficients of the equivalent electric and magnetic currents are approximated tv a set of orthonormal basis function that is derived from the Laguerre polynomials. These basis functions are also used for the temporal testing. Numerical results computed by the proposed method are presented and compared.

  • Radiative heat transfer in an axisymmetric enclosure with absorbing, emitting, and scattering medium is studied here by using the different methods such as MDOM, FVM, and FVM2 with emphasis on the treatment of angular derivative term, which appears in a curvilinear coordinates due to angular redistribution. After final discretization equation for FVM2 is introduced by using the step scheme and directional weights, present approach is validated by applying it to three different benchmarking problems with absorbing, emitting, and scattering medium.
