When a mobile station(MS) performs a handover, in the IEEE 802.11 WLAN, MS's channel scanning for discovering new available APs is the dominating factor in handover latency, accounting 90% of overall latency. In order to reduce such a scanning latency, we focus on the method for reducing the number of channels for the MS in handover process to scan. With the help of IEEE 802.21 information server(IS), a proper order of groups of channels to be scanned is offered by the current AP depending on the information of neighbor APs in terms of the distance from serving AP, traffic load and network topology. By using this scanning order, the passive scanning of a MS in normal operation enables the MS to filter out the unavailable channels, and thus to classify the candidate channels of neighbor APs into three groups. Then, a handover-imminent MS can perform the active scanning from the most reliable group of channels. Simulation results show that the proposed scanning scheme reduce the scanning latency in comparison with the conventional scheme.

Handoff is a critical issue for seamless roaming in IEEE 802.11-based wireless networks. In order to provide real-time services, handoff mechanism must be provided. However, the IEEE 802.11 standard handoff is not appropriate to provide the services, because it is based on the full-scanning approach which spends too much time searching Access Point (AP). In this paper, we propose a new scheme, which can reduce the scanning latency. A station performs full-scanning operation for finding APs when it enters wireless networks for the first time. The station sends the scanned channel information to AP. AP maintains the neighbor channel table based on the information received from stations. A station performs the partial-scanning by using the table. Therefore, the proposed scheme can reduce the scanning latency.

This paper proposes the improved handoff mechanism for IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs. When a wireless mobile node moves out of the coverage of its currently associated AP(Access Point) and needs to be re-associated with a new AP, a handoff procedure is initiated. Channel scanning process during a handoff procedure occupies over 90% of total handoff latency. Long latency leads to many packet losses and service discontinuity, which degrades wireless network performance. This paper describes about the new mechanism to improve handoff performance by skipping channel scanning during a handoff procedure. In oerder for that, acquires neighboring AP information such as its address, location, channel number in use, the number of associated nodes before handoff, and delivers the information to its associated mobile nodes. The mobile nodes can reduce handoff latency and perform more exact handoff using the delivered AP information. We have conducted simulations to analyze our proposal's performance and confirmed that handoff latency and the number of handoff occurrences are decreased.
Recently Wireless Communication technologies are widely used in Small And Medium Business fields. Wireless mesh networks have been studied as the next generation technology to solve problem of conventional wireless networks. Wireless mesh network uses a 802.11 when make up of network. mesh clients occurs Hard handover moving between ones. This increases the handover latency of the network mobility is a very great issues. Consequently, this paper propose a channel information previously methods to reduce the handover latency selective channels. Proposed scheme accounts for more than 90% of the probe delay to minimize the client had to move the mesh based on the old channel to retrieve information. Through simulation, the proposed scheme had shorter handover delay time than transitional full scan and selective scan. Through results of evaluation, the suggest PCISS scheme more fast 6.5% than transitional scheme.

In this paper, we propose a new Active Channel Scanning scheme by scanning active channels employed by neighbor APs' with the handover counts and non overlap channel information for fast handover. Under the proposed scheme, the mobile which has finished handover to connect a new APsends the neighbor AP's channel information learned by itself during handover to the new AP. And then, the new AP relays the neighbor channel information to the old AP. It decides a priority by handover counts and non overlap channel information for building a Neighbor Channel Table(NCT), and also sends the table information to its associated mobile nodes, periodically. As a result each mobile can scan only active neighbor APs' channels when performs handover based on the referring to NCT information. Using NS-2 Simulator, we applied to supposed ACS that the result of simulation decides to sort by handover counts and non overlap channel information. we evaluate our proposed ACS scheme based on NCT along with the full scanning scheme and the selective scanning scheme. From simulation results, we show that the proposed scheme is advantageous over the other two schemes in terms of the number of scanning channels and the scanning latency.
Spinocerebellar ataxia type 2 (SCA2) is characterized by progressive cerebellar ataxia and slow saccades. A 40-year-old woman presented with progressive gait disturbance and ataxia over 15 years. Neurologic examination revealed scanning speech, ataxia, and hyporeflexia. Brain CT showed diffuse atrophy of the cerebellum. Electronystagmography demonstrated slowed saccades with normal accuracy and delayed latency. The diagnosis of SCA2 was confirmed by the genetic test. Documentation of slow saccades may help differentiation among SCA subgroups.

When the mobile device moves from the coverage of one access point to the radio coverage of another access point it needs to maintain its connection with the current access point before it successfully discovers the new access point, this process is known as handoff. During handoff the acceptable delay a voice over IP application can bear is of 50ms whereas the delay on medium access control layer is high enough that goes up to 350-500ms. This research provides a suitable methodology on medium access control layer of the IEEE 802.11 network. The medium access control layer comprises of three phases, namely discovery, reauthentication and re-association. The discovery phase on medium access control layer takes up to 90% of the total handoff latency. The objective is to effectively reduce the delay for discovery phase to ensure a seamless handoff. The research proposes a scheme that reduces the handoff latency effectively by scanning channels prior to the actual handoff process starts and scans only the neighboring access points. Further, the proposed scheme enables the mobile device to scan first the channel on which it is currently operating so that the mobile device has to perform minimum number of channel switches. The results show that the mobile device finds out the new potential access point prior to the handoff execution hence the delay during discovery of a new access point is minimized effectively.

Providing handover with guaranteed QoS for real-time multimedia service such as VoIP, video/audio streaming, and video conferencing in wireless LAN is a challenging task. In this paper, we present efficient layer 2 handover mechanism in wireless LAN, which can provide fast handover with guaranteed QoS for real-time multimedia service. To this end, the scanning period and the number of channels per scanning for handover are dynamically adapted to the type of applications and wireless networking environment, so that both the degradation of application service quality and signaling overhead are minimized simultaneously. The performance of the proposed mechanism is verified by the simulation. The simulation results show that the proposed mechanism guarantess QoS of each multimedia application with minimal power consumption.

Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) protocol has attracted attention as a promising technology for low data throughput and low energy wireless sensor networks. Fast device discovery is very important in a BLE based wireless network. It is necessary to configure the network to work with minimized energy consumption because the BLE network nodes are expected to operate a long time typically on a coin cell battery. However, since it is difficult to obtain low energy and low latency at the same time, the BLE standard introduces wide range setting of parameters related to device discovery process and let the network operators to set up parameter values for the application. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the performance of device discovery according to the related parameter values prior to BLE network operation. In this paper we analyze the expected value and the cumulative distribution function of the number of advertisements for device discovery in the BLE network. In addition, we propose a scheme for controlling the interval between advertising events that can improve the performance of device discovery without increasing energy consumption.

The most popular communication protocol is those defined by the IEEE 802.11 WLAN to support broadband internet connection. The demand for real-time multimedia service is increasing through WLAN on the road. The Hand-off function of mobile terminal is essential to support mobility. But, the hand-off function of IEEE 802.11 WLANs has the latency up to 300ms, and recent research has focusing on channel scanning and reconnection to AP and certification process of AP. It is also the lack of consideration in related works that hand-off happens frequently when the mobile node is moving. This paper proposed the hand-off algorithm that guarantees high throughput and estimates the point which may occur hand-off using GPS information and RSSI. We implement the proposed hand-off function that achieves the best performance.
