Comparing the Effectiveness of the Frequency and Duration of the Horticultural Therapy Program on Elderly Women with Mild Cognitive Impairment and Mild Dementia

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the horticultural therapy program on patients with mild cognitive impairment and mild dementia depending on the frequency and duration of the interventions. We developed the same 15-session program to improve cognitive functions and life satisfaction and alleviate depression of the elderly women with mild cognitive impairment or mild dementia. Subjects in Longer Treatment group participated in the program once a week for 15 weeks and subjects in Shorter Tratmet group participated twice a week for 7½ weeks. This study conducted pretest-posttest verification of both groups using quasi-experimental design involving 21 subjects. Elderly life satisfaction, Geriatric Depression Scale (short form), and the Korean Version of Consortium to Establish a Registry of Alzheimer's Disease (CERAD-K) were used in the evaluation. As a result, both groups showed an increase in life satisfaction, and a decrease in depression. However, there was a significant difference in the changes of the CERAD-K scores between the two groups (p < .05). In Longer Treatment group, life satisfaction increased significantly (p < .001), and depression decreased at a marginally significant level (p = .068), but no statistically significant change was observed in neurocognitive function. In Shorter Treatment group, life satisfaction increased at a marginally significant level (p = .059), and depression and CERAD-K scores decreased significantly (p < .05). However, in the case of Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE-K), there was no significant change in both groups. According to these results, when planning a horticultural therapy program for persons with mild cognitive impairment or mild dementia, it is effective to organize and execute the program by determining the duration of intervention as 3 to 4 months or longer, even if this reduces the number of interventions per week.

An analysis of Satisfaction, Achievement and Effectiveness of Trainee's on Education Return Farm (귀농 교육의 만족도, 성취도, 효과성 분석에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of training Program for return farm. In detail, this study evaluated the trainees' satisfaction, achievement, and effectiveness of the education. This Study polled 250 trainees who presented the Return farm training program. The results of analysis are as follows; First, the satisfaction and the reliability on the educational institutions of return farm was the highest. Second, Trainees' replied that their Agricultural Techniques was improved. Especially, 'business administrative ability, cultivation techniques & management ability, and agricultural machinery using ability were enhanced. Their self-confidence of return farm was increased. Third, the correlation of satisfaction, achievement and effectiveness of training program was statistically significant. The findings of this study will be used to plan of return farm education program.

Relationship between Self-efficacy, Depression, Level of Satisfaction and Death Attitude of College Students (대학생의 자아효능감이 우울과 만족도, 죽음태도에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship among self-efficacy, depression, life satisfaction and death attitude of college students. Methods: The subjects consisted of 232 college students. Data were collected by self-reported questionnaires, which were constructed to include self-efficacy, depression, satisfaction with life, and death attitude. Data were analyzed by the SPSS/PC WIN. 12.0 program. Results: Death attitude and life satisfaction of college students were significantly different according to frequency of death ideation. Death attitude for college students correlated with self-efficacy, depression, and life satisfaction. The most significant predictor of death attitude for college students was life satisfaction. Conclusion: The above findings indicate that death attitude for college students is influenced by self-efficacy, depression, and life satisfaction. These findings suggest that a death education program to improve life satisfaction and to give a positive attitude toward death is needed for college students.

  • This study investigates the actual status of Saturday program operation in Busan and explores the routes for acquiring information about the Saturday program and satisfaction with the program operation with the subjects of middle school students residing in Busan in order to develop efficient operation methods and also find ways to enhance the participation rate of the students. Therefore, with the subjects of 569 first, second, and third graders at 3 middle schools located in Busan, this research investigated the actual status of Saturday program operation in Busan to figure out the participation rate and satisfaction of the Saturday program, efficient operation methods for the Saturday program and ways to encourage participation in the Saturday program. It is needed to install cooperative Saturday program support centers to be operated collaboratively by local autonomous entities and the offices of education afterwards. And it is necessary to figure out which institution should take charge of the Saturday program according to the requests from teachers and students so that the proper institution can secure the budget and manpower and build a system to develop and operate the Saturday program.

Development of convergence program to improve marital satisfaction of elderly couples (노인부부의 결혼만족도 향상을 위한 융합프로그램 개발)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop and apply the convergence program to improve the marital satisfaction of the elderly couples. The purpose of this study was to overcome the divorce crisis of elderly couples and to provide a basic plan for divorce prevention through rapid aging and increase of divorce rate. The subjects of this study were 9 elderly women's welfare centers located in P city. The convergence program for improving the marital satisfaction of elderly couples in this study shows that marital satisfaction is improved by 52.1% from pre - test (cumulative complaint of marriage) to 32.1 (post - test). The results of a qualitative evaluation of the observational records show that it is very helpful to improve the relationship by acquiring the skill of sharing experience and communication between the elderly couple through the program, Marital satisfaction was improved. The results of this study show that the convergence program developed in this study is effective in improving marital satisfaction for elderly couples.

  • The purpose of the study is to examine culinary students' perception of the quality of an OJT(on the job training) program and to investigate their satisfaction levels clustered by the differences in it. Through the survey, the data were obtained from 348 culinary students who had experiences of an OJT program. They were analyzed by SPSS 13.0 and divided into four groups based on the differences of perception. As a result, this study showed that the more the students had a positive perception of OJT program, the more they were satisfied with the program. Therefore, this study will be of great use to seek for alternatives for the promotion of OJT program in the future.

Effect of Job Satisfaction, Economic Condition Satisfaction, Change of Self-Worth on Quality of Life in the Elderly Employment Program Participants (노인일자리사업 참여자의 일자리사업 참여만족, 경제상태만족, 자기가치감 변화가 삶의 질에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of the study was to examine the structural relationship among job satisfaction, economic condition satisfaction, change of self-worth and quality of life of Elderly Employment Program participants. An analysis was conducted on the data of the '2012 Elderly Employment Program Participants Survey'. The major findings were as follows. The job satisfaction, economic condition satisfaction, change of self-worth had positive effects to quality of life. The job satisfaction had mediator effect to quality of life through economic condition satisfaction and change of self-worth. Also, change of self-worth had indirect effect between economic condition satisfaction and quality of life. Based on the results, the implications for Elderly Employment Program practice and policy were suggested.

The Influence of Self-Regulatory Group Counseling on Self- regulation and Satisfaction with School Life of the Higher grade Students in Elementary School (자기조절 집단상담이 초등학교 고학년 학생의 자기조절능력과 학교생활 만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • This thesis aims to examine the influences of self-regulatory group counseling on self-regulation and school life satisfaction of the higher grade students in Elementary school. To achieve this aim, the following research questions were posed: First, What kind of influence does the self-regulatory group counseling have on the self- regulation of the higher grade students in Elementary school. Second, What kind of influence does the self-regulatory group counseling have on school life satisfaction scale of the higher grade students in Elementary school. In order to verify these research questions, the self-regulation test and school life satisfaction scale were conducted to both the experimental group and control group in pre-test, next, self-regulatory group counseling was practiced to the experimental group. And finally, a post-test was given to both the experimental group and control group. For this study, 200 students from 6th-grader of S Elementary school located in Incheon were given the self-regulation test and chosen 50 students who received low marks. Then, 50 students were researched into the school life satisfaction scale and chosen 16 students who got average-below score again. It was two matching groups through consideration of their score of the school life satisfaction scale, 8 students were arranged to the experimental group and the rest to the control group. The Self-Regulatory Group Counseling program developed by Eun Hyuck-gi(1999). The program was based on the following three programs: "The development. of the Cognitive-Behavioral Counseling therapy and their reports" by Kim HyeSuk(1996), Group counseling" by Brigman and Early(1991) and the study on the improving program in human relation" by Park KyeongAe(1998). The Self-Regulatory Group Counseling program activity was conducted during 6 weeks. Each session was 60 minutes and it continued for 8 sessions. The data collected to find out a difference in self-regulation and the degree of school life satisfaction between the experimental and control groups were processed by means of SPSSWIN program, and the post-test between both the groups were comparatively analyzed through t-test, a mean difference test. The following conclusions were drawn from the results of this study. First, the self-regulatory group counseling program has obvious effect of improving the self-regulation of the higher grade students in Elementary school. Second, the self-regulatory group counseling program has obvious effect of improving the school life satisfaction of the higher grade students in Elementary school. Particularly, this study shows statistical significance in cognitive facts of the self-regulation and the degrees of satisfaction with general school life, teacher, friend and facilities. Since the self-regulatory group counseling program has positive effects on self-regulation and satisfaction with their school life, It is required to utilize the structured self-regulatory group counseling program in school more widely to help students.

The effect of satisfaction with the educational environment on the achievement level in outreach program for coffee barista and baking (찾아가는 커피 바리스타 및 제과제빵 프로그램에서 교육 환경에 대한 만족도가 학습향상 수준에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of learners' satisfaction with the educational environment on the achievement level in the outreach coffee barista and bakery lifelong education program. The results of this study conducted over 10 sessions for learners living in Y city are as follows. Firstly, the satisfaction with the instructor was the highest, the satisfaction with the program content was the next, and the satisfaction with the program environment was the lowest. Secondly, as a result of analysis through pre-post evaluation, it was found that there was a significant level of improvement in learning effect. Thirdly, as a result of analyzing the effect on the achievement level, it was found that satisfaction with the instructor had a significant effect on the level of knowledge, and satisfaction with the content of the program had a significant effect on the level of attitude. However, satisfaction with the program environment was found to have no significant effect in all areas of knowledge, skill, and attitude. In conclusion, even if the educational environmental factors are poor in the outreach coffee barista and bakery programs, high satisfaction with the instructor and the content of the program can have a significant learning achievement. With this study, it is hoped that the outreach coffee barista and bakery education program will be further activated.

A Study of School Doctor Program for Dysmenorrhea in Korean Medicine (월경통 한의 교의 사업에 관한 연구)

  • Objectives This study aims to investigate the effect of the Korean medicine in treating dysmenorrhea as a part of school health program (SHP) and satisfaction rate of the participated students in this program. With this study, we tried to contribute to the development of health promotion program of Korean medicine. Methods As part of the 'Korean Medicine Health Promotion Project', we conducted a dysmenorrhea program at one of many high schools in Eumseong-gun. From April to June 2018, we conducted the promotion program a total of 7 times and analyzed the questionnaire regarding satisfaction and the monthly experience of menstruation. Results The study participants' grade distribution was 2nd grade 32, 3rd grade 23 with a total 55 students. Mean dysmenorrhea VAS was 6.07±2.10, and the mean number of visits to the dysmenorrhea program was 3.61±1.47. There were no significant differences in the average number of visits between grades. Overall satisfaction was 4.06±0.97, teacher satisfaction was 4.29±1.10, and lecture satisfaction was 4.18±0.95. Dysmenorrhea decreased but was not statistically significant. Conclusions Korean medicine is appropriate for the health promotion program. With cooperation and support from local schools, it will be very possible to carry out a successful business. It is also necessary to organize the program according to the viewpoint of youth and to interact with the students.
