  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate factors influencing depression among mothers-in-law in multicultural families. Methods: For this study, 159 participants from multicultural families were recruited through administrative units of the B. & U. Metropolitan City and G. Province. Data related to acculturation stress, resilience, and depression were collected from April to August 2014 and analyzed through t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and regression analysis with the SPSS/WIN 22.0 for Windows program. Results: The participants had a moderate level of acculturation stress ($2.43{\pm}0.75$: range 1~5) and resilience (4.74±1.14: range 1~7). About 58% of the participants had depression. The results of stepwise multiple regression analysis indicated that mothers-in-law's depression was affected by resilience (β=1.17, p<.001), acculturation stress (β=0.85, p=.026), perceived economic level (β=0.83, p=.016), difficulty in physical activity (β=0.62, p=.027), relationship satisfaction (β=0.51, p=.035), and education level (β=0.48, p=.033). The explanatory power of these factors was 35%. Conclusion: The findings indicated the need to lower the level of depression by enhancing resilience and reducing acculturation stress among mothers-in-law in multicultural families. Future research to reduce depression among mothers-in-law in multicultural families should consider how to enhance resilience and reduce acculturation stress.

The subjects of this study surveyed 187 nursing students in D city with a structured self-report questionnaire. Data were analyzed by the SPSS 18.0 program, t-test, ANOVA, correlation and multiple regression. The disaster nursing core competencies average mean score was 3.15(±0.40). Grade and satisfaction of clinical practice were the significant factors related to disaster nursing core competencies in these subjects. Disaster nursing core competencies was positively correlated with disaster perception, disaster attitudes and self-efficacy. The influencing factors on disaster nursing core competencies were self-efficacy(β=0.276), disaster attitudes(β=0.200) and grade(β=0.172). The explanatory power of these variables was 19.1%. Therefore, it is necessary to develop disaster related curriculum and subjects that can improve the disaster nursing core competencies based on the important factors affecting the disaster nursing core competencies.

  • Purpose: This study was undertaken in order to examine relations of eating disorders, health locus of control of college women, and to determine factors affecting eating disorders of college women. Method: The subjects were 282 students at a university in Busan. The instrument used for this study was a questionnaire on general characteristics, eating disorders (24 items), health locus of control (11 items) and self-esteem (10 items). Data were analyzed using means, percentages, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression with a SPSS WIN 11.0 program. Result: Depending on BMI, there was no obese subject, 62.0% of the subjects were underweight, and 37.9% were normal. Over 40% of the subjects perceived them to be overweight while 62.1% of the women were underweight as defined by BMI. The total mean score of anorexia was higher than bulimia nervosa. There were significant differences in eating disorders according to BMI, perceived view of appearance, body satisfaction, experienced weight-control, and predictors of weight control method. Eating disorders showed a significant negative correlation with health locus of control and self-esteem. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the most powerful predictor of eating disorders was BMI. Experienced weight control, health locus of control and self-esteem and body appearance had significant effects on eating disorders. These predictive variables of eating disorders explained 27% of variance. Conclusion: The result of this study showed that eating behaviors among college women developed into eating disorders or were seriously disturbed. Therefore, to prevent eating disorders, health education should be provided to college women in relation to eating behaviors for health management.

This cross-sectional study was conducted from April 17 to June 19, 2024, with a total of 228 nursing students from the first to fourth grade at E University in S City, South Korea. Data were collected through an online survey using a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS 29.0 WIN Program. The results showed that the influencing factors of resilience were grade, satisfaction with university life, rumination and diffusion as dimensions of anger coping strategies, and social-emotional competency, with an explanatory power of 61.0% (F=26.318, p<.001). • This study was carried out to provide basic data. his research conducted the survey using face to face survey and board survey during about 2 months from Oct. to Nov. in 2009 for users of Bongje Mt., a small-sized mountain at downtown, and Acha Mt., a big-sized mountain at outskirt so as to compare the differences of using behavior by forms and size of urban forest in living area of Seoul. Characteristics of urban forest users, using behavior, demands and satisfaction of facilities and management and pass pattern were set as research items. The thing in common for using behavior is that both genders of main users were in more than 40s~60s. They showed the highest using rate from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. and high rate for using nearly everyday or visiting two or three times per a week. In addition, it's judged that the accessibility from dwelling area to entrance of urban forest in living area is good and satisfaction for the standard of facilities and their management in forest way was relatively low. For the complement and essential facilities, 'sanitary facilities' showed the highest rate. For the differences of using behavior, most of Bongje Mt. users were residents living within a 2km radius (under the standard of walking) and they moved by average 1.3km. And, they preferred short-time activities of about 24 minutes. On the other hand, main users of Acha Mt. were residents living within a 4km radius (under the standard of walking) and people of other regions. and 60% of them preferred the passage route taking 3hours half over 6km. Through the survey on using behavior of urban forest in living area of Seoul, with different using form and forest size, introduction of using program for main users or managing method of differentiations for introduced facility's management should be properly applied. Especially, urban forest should be systematically managed like park green as expected that residents's using of urban forest will be increased with the increase of leisure time.
