  • The purpose of this study is to investigate children's satisfaction with baps, soups, pot stews, one course dishes, and kimchies provided by elementary school lunch program in Seoul area. Two hundred and thirty two children enrolled in 3 different elementary schools participated In this study through a questionnaire developed by the researchers. Conclusions drawn from the results of this study are 1) children seemed to be generally satisfied with foods provided by school lunch program : 2) it is necessary for children to control amount of food and salt and/or hot peppers depending upon their own preference; and 3) appropriate temperature of each food should be maintained by using thermos pots, and the shape of dining board needs to be improved for younger children's convenience.

Effects of Sleep Promoting Program on Sleep and Immune Response in Elderly (수면증진 프로그램이 노인의 수면과 면역반응에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: This study was to examine the effects of sleep promoting program on sleep and the immune response in the elderly with insomnia. Methods: The study was designed as a quasi-experimental, nonequivalent control group pre-post test design. Thirty two elders who suffered from insomnia (16 experimental and 16 control subjects) were selected among the elders who had been enrolled in two churches. The subjects in the experimental group participated in a sleep promoting program which was composed of sleep hygiene education and progressive muscle relaxation for 4 weeks. Data were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN. Results: The experimental group showed higher sleep score than that of the control group (t=7.86, p=.00). The experimental group showed higher sleep satisfaction score than that of the control group (t=7.61, p=.00). The sleep promoting program was not effective in enhancing immune response. Conclusion: The sleep promoting program increased the sleep score, sleep-satisfaction score and B cell in immune response of elderly people suffering from insomnia. Therefore, sleep promoting program can be applied as an effective nursing intervention to promote sleep quality and sleep satisfaction.

Clinical Effect of Herbal Medicine Treatment on Insomnia in a Public Health Center (일개 보건소에서 시행한 불면증에 대한 한약치료의 효과분석)

  • Objectives: We conducted a public health promotion program in Korean medicine for participants suffering from chronic insomnia in 2016~2017. A significant improvement effect was obtained through the 8-week herbal medicine treatment program. The object of this study is to report the results of this public health promotion program. Methods: Seventy patients diagnosed with chronic insomnia participated in the program, 49 of whom completed the program. Participants were treated with the herbal medicine for insomnia treatment for 8 weeks. A sleep diary was used to assess the total sleep time, sleep latency, and number of times the participants woke. The treatment satisfaction was then evaluated. Results: Through the 8-week herbal medicine treatment program, the total sleep time was significantly increased by 109.59±70.77 minutes, the sleep latency was significantly decreased by 63.53±47.79 minutes, and the number of times the participants woke was significantly decreased by 1.54±1.19 times compared to the baseline (all, p=0.000). Among the 24 patients who were examined for the treatment satisfaction, the average score was 4.33 points of a total of 5 points. Six patients had adverse events. Except for one patient, the symptoms of other patients were mitigated by changing or discontinuing the herbal medicine. Conclusions: For patients with chronic insomnia, the 8-week herbal medicine treatment program was effective, with few side effects and high treatment satisfaction. This study has significance as this is the first report in Korea on the effect of a herbal medicine treatment program for chronic insomnia through Korean medicine public health promotion.

The Effect of In-patient Guide Movie and Booklet Programs on Understanding of Hospital Life and Satisfaction with the Programs (동영상과 책자를 이용한 교육이 환자의 입원생활 이해도와 만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study was intended to determine how an in-patient guide movie enhanced the understanding of hospital life. Method: A non-equivalent control group post-test design was used for the study. The experimental group was allowed to watch the in-patient guide movie. The in-patient guide booklets were given to the control group for reading. The understanding and satisfaction of the respective programs were surveyed with questionnaires. The data was analyzed using SPSS. Result: The movie watching experimental group had better understanding on the hospital life than the booklet reading control group. The movie watching group had more satisfaction with the guide program than the booklet reading group. The understanding of the hospital life and satisfaction with the program had relevance. Conclusion: This study suggests that the in-patient guide movie would help the would-be in-patients understand and adapt to the hospital life better. Therefore, the in-patient guide movie is considered to be a useful medium to educate in-patients for their hospital life.

The Effects of Information Service Program by Media on Anxiety and Educational Satisfaction in Patients with Cataract Surgery (시청각매체를 이용한 정보제공 프로그램이 백내장 수술 환자의 불안과 교육만족도에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this research was to identify the effects of providing an information service program by media on preoperative anxiety and postoperative educational satisfaction in patients with cataract surgery. Methods: For this study 52 patients who visited the ophthalmology clinic at P Hospital in B metropolitan city and who were scheduled to undergo one-day cataract surgery under local anesthesia were recruited. The 52 patients were assigned to the experimental group (25) or the control group (27). This study was conducted from August 27, 2015 to May 29, 2016. Results: Following the provision of cataract surgery related information service by media, the experimental group had a lower mean score for anxiety and higher mean score for educational satisfaction compared to the control group of patients. Conclusion: Results indicate that information service program by media "Goodbye Cataract" is useful educational materials for cataract patients in outpatient department and outpatient operating rooms.

Influencing factors on satisfaction in ambulance ride practice of paramedic students (응급구조과 학생의 구급차동승실습 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide an appropriate direction for effective field practice program by analyzing the influencing factors on satisfaction in ambulance ride practice of paramedic students in Korea. Methods: This study analyzed of 180 paramedic students from 20th to 30th september, 2019. The collected data were analyzed with MedCalc 18.1.0 program. Results: The results of the satisfaction of ambulance riding practice according to the degree of procedure practice are as follows. Satisfaction was high in all groups except the practice time. The lowest satisfaction rate was seen in the category of'There were many cases of applying theories learned at college'within the variable of practice environment(2.82±0.82). The factors affecting the satisfaction of ambulance riding practice were the nurse (β=-0.1472, p=.024) and emergency medical technician(β=-0.3318, p=.002) according to the ambulance worker qualification paramedic, and the practice score (β=0.0048, p<.001). Conclusions: For effective ambulance riding practice, it is necessary to be able to select the practice place where many cases can be experienced, the appropriate selection of the practice leader, and the degree of procedure practice.

Self-Efficacy, Self-Concept of Professional Nursing, and Clinical Practice Satisfaction to Clinical Practice Education in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 임상실습교육에 대한 자기효능감, 전문직 자아개념 및 임상실습만족도)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify self-efficacy and self-concept of professional nursing which might influence clinical practice satisfaction in nursing students. The participants were 278 nursing students in U city. Date were collected from November 29 to December 17, 2010. The collected data was analyzed with the PASW 18.0 statistics program. Self-efficacy had significant positive correlation with self-concept of professional nursing(r=.595, p<.001) and self-concept of professional nursing had significant positive correlation with clinical practice satisfaction(r=.396, p<.001). In multiple regression analysis, self-concept of professional nursing is most influential factor explained 21% of variance of clinical practice satisfaction. The results indicate that to develop a more reasonable and effective curriculum and teaching program for enhancement of students' self-concept of professional nursing.

The Effect of Denture Care Skills Education Program on Denture Self-care, Denture Satisfaction and Oral Health-related Quality of Life (OHIP-14) among the Elderly (의치관리 실습프로그램이 노인의 의치자가관리, 만족도 및 구강건강관련 삶의 질에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of denture care skills education program on denture self-care, denture satisfaction and subjective oral status among the elderly. Methods: The research design for this study was a non-equivalent control group quasi-experimental design. Total 61 elderly who visited a seniors center, Seoul, Korea, participated in this study. Participants were 31 elderly for the experimental group and 30 elderly for the control group. The experimental group received a lesson in denture care skills education program which was developed by the researchers. Using a structural questionnaire, the elderly's perception about denture self-care, denture satisfaction and subjective oral status were measured before and after the intervention. Descriptive statistics, independent t-test, chi-square test, and ANCOVA test were performed using SPSS WIN 21.0. Results: The experimental group showed significantly higher scores in denture satisfaction(p<.001), QOL of oral health(<.001), concern for oral health(p=.005), subjective oral health status(p<.001), bad breath(p=.010), oral dryness(p<.001) and number of denture clearing(p<.001). Conclusion: The results suggest that the denture care skills education program for elderly at a senior center was effective. Further work is required to develop more effective denture care skills education programs and an oral health promotion program to improve the health status of the elderly.

Analysis of Factors Affecting the Life Satisfaction of Elderly Users of Senior Citizen Centers: Focus on Senior Citizen Centers in Seoul (경로당 이용 노인 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향 요인분석: 서울특별시 경로당을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to observe the influencing factors of elderly users of senior citizen centers' life satisfaction from an integrative perspecrive. In order to do so, 25 senior citizen centers located in the city of Seoul were selected as a sample on which a direct survey was conducted. A total of 448 were chosen as the final study subjects. The following are the study results. Firstly, although program satisfaction did not affect the life satisfaction of elderly users of senior citizen centers, senior citizen center user satisfaction and service quality had a positive influence on life satisfaction. Secondly, welfare satisfaction and self-worth had a positive influence on life satisfaction. Thirdly, existentiality, certainty and responsiveness had a positive influence on life satisfaction. In conclusion, this study aims to contribute to discussions for policies and the development of active programs that can improve the self-worth of elderly users by fulfillling leisure welfare satisfaction and achieving facility expansion, as well as vitalizing communication among elderly users.

Effect of Behavior Based Safety Program on Safety Behavior, Safety Climate and its Satisfaction (행동기반안전관리 프로그램이 안전행동, 안전 분위기 및 만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study has performed to identify the effect of safety behavior, safety climate and its satisfaction through the Behavior Based Safety Program for 5 sites of the same Company. The study result indicated that the level of recognized safety behavior, climate and its satisfaction improved by conducting observation of worker behavior, jobsite feedback, displaying feedback chart, safety training, behavior modification committee. Additionally, the participation level of safety activity and conformity level of safety rule improved. The recognized level of safety climate improved together with recognized safety value by management, safety participation of direct boss, communication with each other to be dealt with safety matter, safety training material to be contained unsafe behavior and practical hazard, understanding and conducting safety standard. In addition, The recognized level of satisfaction improved together with safety behavior and climate. As a result, this program provided an opportunities to correct worker's unsafe behavior to safe behavior in conjunction with increasing number of observation, providing additional time to have a safety check, safety suggestion to improve work situation and a permit to work rule. It will be integrated into health and safety management system to be able to reduce industrial accident.
