1. Objectives: Fever is an abnormal elevation of body temperature, usually as a result of a pathologic process. Fever can cause chilling, myalgia, headache and other related symptoms. We have tried researching effect of herbal medicine Doksampalmulkunja-tang(獨蔘八物君子湯) on fever. 2. Methods: The subjects are three patients who were on diagnosed Soeumin Woolgwang-incurable disease. They are treated by Doksampalmulkunja-tang(獨蔘八物君子湯). 3. Results: Doksampalmulkunja-tang(獨蔘八物君子湯) was effective on the subjects. Their fever and related symptoms were improved. 4. Conclusions: This case study shows that the treatment with herb-medicine may have effect on fever of Soeumin by rasing the stagnant yang qi.

Objectives : Sasang Constitutional Medicine is based on the diversity of human beings and medically developing a variation of responses to diseases and medicines. This diversity is categorized into four concerning morphology, physiology, pathology, and pharmacology. It is supposed that sasang constitutional medicine is related the genetic diversity of individuals. Single nucleotide polymorphism is the basic tool to research genetic polymorphism as a landmark of genomes. Each constitution has different processes of pathophysiology and metabolisms to herb medications. In clinical research, the stroke incidence is significantly different by constitution. Methods : We researched whether the polymorphic expression of CCK (rs=2241997) depends on sasang constitution. The [c/t] polymorphism site of promotor region of CCK gene on 3p22-p21.3 was investigated. Results : The allele frequency of [c/t] polymorphism of CCK promotor region was different in constitution groups compared to the average allele frequency of SNP DB. The allele frequencies of Soeumin and Soyangin groups were (c:0.70/t:0.30). and (c:0.71/t:0.29), that of Taeumin group was (c:0.57/t:0.43) and of Taeyangin group was (c:1.00/t:0.00) Conclusions : It was regarded the [c/t] polymorphism of CCK promotor region is available to classify the constitution. However, it is necessary to research about CCK gene polymorphism and more constitution population groups. It is also necessary to research the more functional gene's polymorphism and sasang constitution.

Objectives The aim of this study was to report a improvement of tension type headache severity after using the Melonis Pedicus. Methods 3 Taeeumin patients, suffering from headache, treated with Melonis Pedicus, herb medicine, and acupuncture. After the treatment, Severity of headache was evaluated by Numerical Rating Scale(NRS). Also we checked the reponse of the Melonis Pedicus, and vital sign. Results & Conclusions After using the Melonis Pedicus, the severity of headache decreased from NRS 8 to NRS 1(case1), from NRS 10 to NRS 7(case 2), and from NRS 8 to NRS 6(case 3). And there was not any adverse effect. In conclusion, this study shows that using Meloni Pedicus can be effective treatment for Taeeumin tension type headache patient.

Objectives The aim of this study was to examine significant improvement of motor and non-motor symptoms after treatment with Sasang constitutional medicine treatment on a Soyangin patient with Parkinson disease having depression. Methods The patient was treated with Soyangin's constitutional medications treatment(herb and acupuncture) and scalp acupuncture. The progress was evaluated using the Global Assessment Scale (GAS scale), Hoehn and Yahr scale (H&Y scale) and Unified Parkinson disease rating scale (UPDRS) before and after treatment. These scales were used to assess the overall function of patient. Result We observed a significant improvement in patient's motor and non-motor symptoms using GAS scale, H&Y scale and UPDRS. The UPDRS scores decreased in Part I, Part II, Part III and Part IV. Conclusion This study shows that Sasang constitutional medicine treatment can be effective for Soyangin patient with Parkinson disease having depression.

1. Objectives Pneumothorax is defined as the presence of air or gas in the pleural cavity causing chest pain and shortness of breath. Primary spontaneous pneumothoraces (PSPs) occur in people without underlying lung disease or trauma to the thorax. We have tried researching effect of herbal medicine Doksampalmulkeunja-rang(獨蔘八物君子湯) in PSPs. 2. Methods This patient with PSPs which size was more than 30% of Rt. lung, who had been experienced the recurrences of PSPs in Lt. lung for three times, was treated by Doksampalmulkeunja-tang(獨蔘八物君子湯) diagnosed by Soeumin. 3. Results Doksampalmulkeunja-tang(獨蔘八物君子湯) was effective against the chest discomfort and shortness of breath. The chest test was improved. 4. Conclusions The treatment with herb-medicine may have effect on PSPs symptom of Soeumin by raising the stagnant yang qi. Further Sasang medical study on PSPs is needed for recurrence prevention.

Objectives : The objectives of this study is a case report of Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome in childhood Methods : We experienced a child who ha diagnosed as Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome. We treated the patient with herb medicine, acupuncture and alimentotherapy of Sasang Constitution. Results : After the treatment of oriental medicine, the patient recovered from Cyclic Vomiting. Conclusions : We report one case of Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome in childhood the recovered after the treatment of Sasang Constitution. We think that the more follow-up is needed.

Objects of Research This research is purposed to find role and treatment mind of Sasang constitutional medicine in human genome age, through summarizing recognition of human and etiology. treatment on diseases proposed in Sasang constitutional medicine 2. Methods of Research It was researched as bibliologically with Dong-mu's chief medical writings such as ${\ulcorner}Dongyi$ Soose Bowon(東醫壽世保元)${\lrcorner}$, ${\ulcorner}$Dongyi Soose Bowon Sasang Chongyun(東醫壽世保元四象草本卷${\lrcorner}$. 3. Results and Conclusions 1. The outlook on human of Sasang Constitutional Medicine was completed in the base on Confusianism and it recognized that human is consisted with congenital element based on 'Human nature-shape' and acquired element based on Knowledge-Acting. Dong-mu emphasised acquired element than inborn element. 2. Sasang Constitutional Medicine is thought that we ran overcome inborn limitation of each constitution through moral culture of aposteriori Knowledge-Acting. and that self-correction is methods which is applied to treatment of disease recovering Essential Qi of each constitution with moral culture of personality 3. Sasang Constitutional Medicine is recognizing Essential Qi by main standard that foretell prognosis of disease and emphasize recovery of Essential Qi through self-correction than way of 'Assisting-Good Qi' and 'Removig-Bad Qi' in treatment of disease. 4. Self-correction can be divided into non-herbal self-correction and herbal self-correction. Non-herbal self-correction is to control greed by aposteriori Knowledge-Acting and herbal self-correction is to recover Essential Qi by herb. 5. It is thought that the present constitutional disease is consisted by accumulating life habit nature of a disease of ordinary times, and Sasang Constitutional Medicine that present constitutional disease is treated through administration of life habit nature of a disease of ordinary times in Sasang Constitutional Medicine. 6. Treatment mind to correct oneself into Golden Mean through controlling Knowledge-Acting in Sasang Constitutional Medicine may get into important treatment guide of gene medicine age.

Objective This study was designed to define the efficacy of medicinal herbs of Taeeumin in Sasang constitutional medicine. Method We searched and analyzed original text such as Donguisusebowon Sinchuk edition written in 1901, Donguisusebowon Gabo edition written in 1894, Donguisusebowon Sansang Chobongwon, and posthumous manuscripts left by Je-ma Lee published by the Ministry of Health of North Korea. Results Seven herbs such as Ephedrae Herba, Coicis Semen, Castaneae Semen, Fel Ursi, Mori Cortex Radicis, Ginkgonis Semen, and Farfarae Flos regulate the mechanism of Esophagus-Cold (Wiwanhan). Three herbs such as Melonis Pedicellus, Ailanthi Radicis Cortex, and Quisqualis Fructus regulate the mechanism of Cold Lung-Dry (HanpaeJo). Sixteen herbs such as Rhei Rhizoma, Angelicae Tenuissimae Radix, Puerariae Radix, Cimicifugae Rhizoma, Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, Moschus, Gleditsiae Spina, Mume Fructus, Aurum, Glycine Semen Germinatum, Ampelopsis Radix, Cornu rhinocerotis, Antelopis Cornu, Bomeolum, Bezoar Bovis, and Typhae Pollen regulate the mechanism of Liver-Heat (Ganyeol). Three herbs such as Chrysanthemi Indici Flos, Nelumbinis Semen, and Spirodelae Herba regulate the mechanism of Heat Lung-Dry (YeolpaeJo). Conclusion Forty four herbs of Taeeumin regulate the mechanisms of Esophagus-Cold (Wiwanhan), Cold Lung-Dry (HanpaeJo), Liver-Heat (Ganyeol), Heat Lung-Dry (YeolpaeJo) and correct the energy-fluid pathology of Taeeumin.

1. Objectives The purpose of this research is to find out the Constitutional characters of Stroke inpatients. 2. Methods Stroke inpatients admitted into KyungHee Oriental Medical Center from January 2000 to April 2004, were divided into 2 group, cerebral infarction 493 inpatients and cerebral hemorrhage 83 inpatients. This research investigated the distribution of Sasasng Constitution, the gender, the age decade, the period of admission, the elapse of the time after onset, the course of admission, the frequency of Sasang Constitutional Herb-medicine, the past history of hypertension and diabetes mellitus, the obesity, the prevalence rate of hypertension and diabetes mellitus, EKG abnormality and hyperlipidemia. 3. Results & Conclusions The Sasang Constitutional distribution of cerebral infarction 493 inpatients was 0.4% of Taeyangin, Soyangin 34.1%, Taeurnin 56.4%, Soeumin 9.1%. The Sasang Constitutional distribution of cerebral hemorrhage 83 inpatients was Taeyangin 1.2%, Soyangin 47.9%, Taeurnin 43.4%, Soeumin 9.6%. Stroke incidence rate of Taeumin and Soyangin inpatients was high. Sasang Constitution had significant relations with the prevalence of the obesity and hypertension in cerebral infarction inpatients, the prevalence of obesity, diabetes mellitus and ECG abnormality in cerebral hemorrhage inpatients.

1. Objectives pneumonia is the infection of the lungs. The typical symptoms of is cough, sputum, fever, chest pain, infiltration of chest X-ray. We have tried researching effect of herbal medicine Soeumin Doksampalmulkeunja-tang(獨蔘八物君子湯). 2. Methods This patient with serious fever, sputum which were caused by aspiration pneumonia was treated by Doksampalmulkeunja-tang(獨蔘八物君子湯), who was diagnosed as Soeumin 3. Results Doksampalmulkeunja-tang(獨蔘八物君子湯) is effective against the fever. sputum symptom of Soeumin. The chest PA test were improved. 4. Conclusions The consitutional treatment with herb-medicine may have effect on fever symptom of Soeumin. Soeumin Exterior febrile Disease must be treated by raising the stagnant yang qi. Further study on Soeumin Exterior febrile Disease is needed.
