  • Vanadium oxide ($VO_{x}$) thin films are very good candidate material for uncooked infrared (IR) detectors due to their high temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) at room temperature. But, the deposition of $VO_{x}$ thin films showing good electrical properties is very difficult in micro bolometer fabrication process using sacrificial layer removal because of its low process temperature and thickness of thin films less than 1000${\AA}$. This paper presents a new fabrication process of $VO_{x}$ thin films having high TCR and low resistance. Through sandwich structure of $VO_{x}$(100${\AA}$)/V(80${\AA}$)/$VO_{x}$(500${\AA}$) by sputter method and post-annealing at oxygen ambient, we have achieved high TCR more than -2%/$^{\circ}C$ and low resistance less than $10K\Omega$ at room temperature.

  • Chalcogenide based phase-change memory has a high capability and potential for the next generation nonvolatile memory device. Fast writing speed, low writing voltage, high sensing margin, low power consume and long cycle of read/write repeatability are also good advantages of nonvolatile phase-change memory. We have been investigated the new material for the phase-change memory. Its composition is consists of chalcogenide $Ge_{1}Se_{1}Te_2$ material. We made this new material to solve problems of conventional phase-change memory which has disadvantage of high power consume and high writing voltage. In the present work, we are manufactured $Ge_{1}Se_{1}Te_{2}/Ge_{2}Sb_{2}Te_{5}/Ge_{1}Se_{1}Te_{2}$ and $Ge_{2}Sb_{2}Te_{5}/Ge_{1}Se_{1}Te_{2}/Ge_{2}Sb_{2}Te_{5}$ sandwich triple layer structure devices are manufactured to investigate its electrical properties. Through the present work, we are willing to ensure a potential of substitutional method to overcome a crystallization problem on PRAM device.

  • In this paper, a microstrip line implementation using via transition and its application of multilayer compact ring hybrid coupler are presented. This transition is the sandwich structure with via hole to connect two microstrip lines in different layer. For designing a compact RF/Microwave passive circuit, the microstrip line using via-hole transition is proposed to reduce a size of microwave circuit with long transmission line. For the validation of the microstrip line with via-hole transition, the multilayer ring hybrid coupler is implemented at center frequency of 2 GHz. The measured performances are in good agreement with simulation results and about 50% size reduction compare to conventional ring hybrid coupler.

  • In this study, designs of the high efficiency composite propeller blade for a high speed turboprop aircraft, which will be used for a next generation regional commercial aircraft in Korea, are performed. Both the vortex theory and the blade element theory are used for preliminary aerodynamic design and performance analysis of the propeller. Then the aerodynamic design result is confirmed through performance analysis using a commercial CFD code, ANSYS. The carbon/epoxy composite materials is used, and the skin-spar-foam sandwich type structure is adopted for improvement of lightness and structural stability. Finally, it is investigated that the proposed propeller blade has high efficiency and structural safety through both aerodynamic and structural analysis and experimental test of a prototype propeller blade.

  • In present article, utilizing the Love shell theory with volume fraction laws for the cylindrical shells vibrations provides a governing equation for the distribution of material composition of material. Isotopic materials are the constituents of these rings. The position of a ring support has been taken along the radial direction. The Rayleigh-Ritz method with three different fraction laws gives birth to the shell frequency equation. Moreover, the effect of height- and length-to-radius ratio and angular speed is investigated. The results are depicted for circumferential wave number, length- and height-radius ratios with three laws. It is found that the backward and forward frequencies of exponential fraction law are sandwich between polynomial and trigonometric laws. It is examined that the backward and forward frequencies increase and decrease on increasing the ratio of height- and length-to-radius ratio. As the position of ring is enhanced for clamped simply supported and simply supported-simply supported boundary conditions, the frequencies go up. At mid-point, all the frequencies are higher and after that the frequencies decreases. The frequencies are same at initial and final stage and rust itself a bell shape. The shell is stabilized by ring supports to increase the stiffness and strength. Comparison is made for non-rotating and rotating cylindrical shell for the efficiency of the model. The results generated by computer software MATLAB.

  • This study investigated the yielding capacity and performance of seismic dampers constructed with steel ring plates using numerical and analytical approaches. This study aims to provide an analytical relationship for estimating the yielding capacity and initial stiffness of steel ring dampers. Using plastic analysis and considering the mechanism of plastic hinge formation, a relation has been obtained for estimating the yielding capacity of steel ring dampers. Extensive parametric studies have been carried out using a nonlinear finite element method to examine the accuracy of the obtained analytical relationships. The parametric studies include investigating the influence of the length, thickness, and diameter of the ring of steel ring dampers. To this end, comprehensive verification studies are performed by comparing the numerical predictions with several reported experimental results to demonstrate the numerical method's reliability and accuracy. Comparison is made between the hysteresis curves, and failure modes predicted numerically or obtained/observed experimentally. Good agreement is observed between the numerical simulations and the analytical predictions for the yielding force and initial stiffness. The difference between the numerical models' ultimate tensile and compressive capacities was observed that average of about 22%, which stems from the performance of the ring-dampers in the tensile and compression zones. The results show that the steel ring-dampers are exhibited high energy dissipation capacity and ductility. The ductility parameters for steel ring-damper between values were 7.5 to 4.1.

  • "Structural surface becomes an antenna." This term, CAS, indicates antenna embedding in structural surfaces. The CAS is composed of several composite laminates and Nomex honeycombs, and microstrip antenna elements are inserted between layers with designed configurations. Constituent materials are selected considering electrical contributions as well as mechanical performances. Antenna design with adhesive films are impossible because of their thin and rough distributions between honeycomb and substrate. Therefore, adhesive effects on antenna performances in CAS are experimentally investigated, CAS with targeted impedance and radiation characteristics are designed considering adhesive effects. multilayer

  • In the first part of this study, a numerical simulation model was developed using the mechanical APDL software to validate the results of the 3D-elastisity theory on the laminated sandwich plate developed by Panago. The numerical simulation model showed a good agreement to the results of Pagano's theory in terms of deflection, normal stresses, and shear stresses. In the second part of this study, the developed numerical simulation model was used to define different plates dimensions and fibers layup orientations to examine the load response in terms of deflection and stresses. Further analysis was implemented on the natural frequencies of laminated xxx plates of the plates. The layup configurations include Unidirectional (UD), Cross-Ply (CP), Quasi-Isotropic (QI), the linear bio-inspired known as Linear-Helicoidal (LH), and the nonlinear bio-inspired known as Fibonacci-Helicoidal (FH). The following numerical simulation model can be used for the design and study of novel, sophisticated bio-inspired composite structures in a variety of configurations subjected to sinusoidal or constant loads.

  • Two pyridinecarboxamide cobalt dicyanide building blocks and Mn(III) compounds have been employed to assemble cyanide-bridged heterometallic complexes, resulting in three trinuclear cyanide-bridged $Co^{III}-Mn^{II}$ complexes: $\{[Mn(MeOH)_4][Co(bpb)(CN)_2]_2\}{\cdot}2MeOH{\cdot}2H_2O$ (1), $\{[Mn(MeOH)_4][Co(bpmb)(CN)_2]_2\}{\cdot}2MeOH{\cdot}2H_2O$ (2) and $\{[Mn(DMF)_2(en)_2][Co(bpb)(CN)_2]_2\}{\cdot}2DMF{\cdot}H_2O$ (3) ($bpb^{2-}$ = 1,2-bis(pyridine-2-carboxamido)benzenate, $bpmb^{2-}$ = 1,2-bis(pyridine-2-carboxamido)-4-methyl-benzenate, en = ethylenediamine). Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis shows their similar sandwich-like structures, in which the two cyanide-containing building blocks act as monodentate ligands through one of their two cyanide groups to coordinate the Mn(II) center. For complex 3, it was further linked into one-dimensional structure by ethylenediamine acting as bridges. Investigation of the magnetic properties of complex 3 reveals weak antiferromagnetic coupling between the neighboring Mn(II) centers through the bridging ethylenediamine molecule. A best-fit to the magnetic susceptibilities of complex 3 gave the magnetic coupling constant J = -0.073(2) $cm^{-1}$.

  • This paper investigates the transverse impact response for ultra lightweight cement composite (ULCC) filled pipe-in-pipe structures through a parametric study using both a validated finite element procedure and a validated theoretical model. The parametric study explores the effect of the impact loading conditions (including the impact velocity and the indenter shape), the geometric properties (including the pipe length and the dimensions of the three material layers) as well as the material properties (including the material properties of the steel pipes and the filler materials) on the impact response of the pipe-in-pipe composite structures. The global impact responses predicted by the FE procedure and by the theoretical model agree with each other closely. The parametric study using the theoretical approach indicates the close relationships among the global impact responses (including the maximum impact force and the maximum global displacement) in specimens with the equivalent thicknesses, proposed in the theoretical model, for the pipe-in-pipe composite structures. In the pipe-in-pipe composite structure, the inner steel pipe, together with the outer steel pipe, imposes a strong confinement on the infilled cement composite and enhances significantly the composite action, leading to improved impact resistance, small global and local deformations.
