It's about three in the morning in a little farming village near the thriving metropolis of Sao Paulo in Brazil. Miguel, a 14-year-old schoolboy is fast asleep. Miguel was worried when he climbed into bed and drew the covers up. He was concerned about his homework - not that he had not done it. But rather what he had discovered while doing it. His homework was to interview his father, a tomato farmer, about how he uses pesticides and what precautions he takes to use them safely.

Abdominal compartment syndrome is one cause of deep vein thrombosis of lower extremity. Although prophylactic dose of anticoagulation agent is safely started after 24~48 hours without the evidence of active bleeding, there may be bleeding complication related to invasive procedure which trauma victims undergo. Inferior vena cava filter should be considered in the treatment plan of this complex situation.

The rotorcraft makes lift and control forces by the rotor thrust. At the development phase of the rotorcraft, the operational limitations have to be established. And it shall be demonstrated to operate the rotorcraft safely within the limitations. This paper introduces establishment and evaluation results of operational rotor speed limitations for the medium class utility rotorcraft. And it shows the follow-up activities after design changes of rotor speed indicators and aural warning systems for implementing the rotor speed limitations.

The considerations in the noise control by enclosure are the rise of temperature and sound pressure, transmission loss, absorption coefficient of the materials, the structure of the soundproof panels, an opening and coincidence frequency. But it is very difficult that we obtain the accurate data about those in design, so, the noise reduction after enclosing does not correspond with the calculation. The difference of the noise reduction between the calculation and the measurement was 8.2dBA, and we can obtain the approximate result as the following formula which correct 10dBA, safely.

A numerical model was developed to predict grain temperature, moisture content, and drymatter loss of rough rice in a grain storage bin. This model simulated conduction, natural convection, and mass transfer occuring inside a storage bin. The results obtained from the study were as follows. 1. The predicticted results agreed well with the measured results. 2. Rough rice could be store safely for one year in Suweon, Dajeon, and Jingu area. 3. Aeration of 5-day was required to control grain temperature and moisture content rise early in Jun and July, respectively.

It is important to evaluate the voltage characteristics of diesel generator as an emergency power supply in nuclear power plant. On loss of offsite power sources, emergency safeguard loads required to safely shutdown the reactor should be supplied by diesel generator. This paper presents the dynamic stability program to evaluate diesel generator performance as an emergency power system. The results Indicate the diesel generator ability to start the motors successfully seems to life in its impedances and inertias.

This paper deals with an efficient and effective method on measuring, monitoring and evaluating safety and environmental performances of a process using SPC control charts. We propose 7 safety control charts as a tool to monitor hazard dendritics, and we propose 15 environment control charts to monitor pollution emissions. We also propose useful guidelines that SPC(Statistical Process Control) control charts can be used for safely and environmental monitoring.

It is very important to delivery timely and safely items in logistics. So, the home delivery service system is introduced by many enterprises. Also, the beginning in 1990's, the rapid increase of automobile increased logistics cost and led to road stagnation. So, the railway transportation use in logistics can be considered. The railway transportation in home delivery service system can overcome the limit of transportation by land. This study evaluate railway transportation in home delivery service system by economical efficiency and timeliness.
