  • In this study, we investigated the particle formation during the deposition of borophosphosilicate glass (BPSG) and phosphosilicate glass (PSG) films in thermal chemical vapor deposition reactor using in-situ particle monitor (ISPM) and particle beam mass spectrometer (PBMS) which installed in the reactor exhaust line. The particle current and number count are monitored at set-up, stabilize, deposition, purge and pumping process step in real-time. The particle number distribution at stabilize step was measured using PBMS and compared with SEM image data. The PBMS and SEM analysis data shows the 110 nm and 80 nm of mode diameter for BPSG and PSG process, respectively.

  • There are various kinds of cereals used in sunsik manufacturing. Different harmful microorganisms that can contaminate these cereals have been reported. According to the different sizes of cereals used, black bean, black rice, and millet were artificially contaminated with Escherichia $Coli.$ $E.$ $coli$ contamination in cereal samples was detected after different washing steps under different conditions. The increase of washing time did not have any effect with regard to reducing $E.$ $coli$ in samples. Among several ratios between the washing solution and sample, 2:1 that have little influence to reduce $E.$ $coli$ contamination have been determined. The temperature of the washing solution is an influencing factor as well. Washing with solution at $40^{\circ}C$ could reduce 1 log of $E.$ $coli$ in samples. Among different concentrations of saline used as a washing solution, 5% could reduce 2~3 log $E.$ $coli$ in contaminated samples. However, the saline adds a salty taste to cereals when used during the washing step. To remove that, an extra washing step and large amount of washing solution are necessary in sunsik manufacturing.

  • This paper presents a new design algorithm for piece-removing dynamical system, based on 6-Sigma DMADOV technique using ARIZ and Brainstorming. Our design target is the piece-removing system installed on a mobile platform of bead-grinding equipment. The 6-Sigma DMADOV technique guides us design process according to 6 steps, i.e., Define - Measure - Analyze - Design - Optimize - Verify. A Design strategy to reduce the weight of piece-removing dynamical system will be explored by using ARIZ, i.e.,(the abbreviation of Algorithm for Inventive Problem Solving in Russian). The ARIZ will result in a final solution that the height and angle control parts for a cutting tool should be replaced by a kinematical approach, rather than complicated mechatronic approach(using motors). The Optimize step is composed of two sub-steps: (i) Generating process for obtaining several ideas of piece-removing system by using Brainstorming technique, satisfying the final solution derived from the Design step using ARIZ, and (ii) Optimizing process for selecting the most optimal idea of piece-removing system by using Pugh's matrix from the viewpoints of weight, cost and accuracy. The laststep of Verify has shown that the final design obtained by the 6-Sigma DMADOV technique with ARIZ & Brainstormingcan improve an initial design with design requirements satisfied. In this paper, we have shown that ARIZ and Brainstorming can be cooperatively merged into 6-Sigma DMADOV to give us both a formulatedproblem-solving approach and diverse candidate solutions(or ideas) without trial-and-error efforts.

  • The irradiation growth of the Zircaloy-4 cladding in the KOFA fuel loaded in the Kori-2 nuclear plant was measured to evaluate the irradiation growth behavior and to be compared with that of the Siemens cladding having different manufacturing process. Due to the partial recrystallization by final heat treatment, the KOFA Zircaloy-4 cladding showed a two step irradiation growth behavior such as the growth saturation and the accerlation which is typical of the fully annealed Zircaloy cladding. The difference in the measured irradiation growth rate between the KOFA and the Siemens cladding could be explained by the difference in the cladding texture which depends on the manufacturing process. From the measured irradiation growth data of Kori-2 KOFA fuel, a two-step irradiation growth model of the KOFA Zircaloy-4 cladding was derived, the accuracy of which can be more clearly verified as the measured data of the irradiation growth are accumulated in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a system that can monitor the amounts of energy consumption during CVD and etching process for semiconductor manufacturing. Specifically, this system is designed to measure the $CO_2$ emission amounts quantitatively by measuring the flow rate of gas used and amount of power consumed during the processes. The processes of CVD equipment can be classified generally into processing step and cleaning step and all the two steps were monitored. In CVD and etcher equipments, various gases including Ar and $O_2$ are used, but Ar, $O_2$ and He were monitored with the use of the LCI data of Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute and carbon emission coefficients of EcoInvent. As a result, it was found that the carbon emission amounts of CVD equipment for Ar, $O_2$ and He were $0.030kgCO_2/min$, $4.580{\times}10^{-3}kgCO_2/min$ and $6.817{\times}10^{-4}kgCO_2/min$, respectively and those of etcher equipment for Ar and $O_2$ are $5.111{\times}10^{-3}kgCO_2/min$ and $7.172kgCO_2/min$, respectively.

  • The optimum conditions for manufacturing pomegranate makgeolli, cloudy Korean rice wine, treated with different levels of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) juice concentrate were investigated. The pH, titratable acidity, amino acid content, soluble solid content, and alcohol content were measured, and the sensory properties of the makgeolli were evaluated. The pH, titratable acidity, soluble solid content and alcohol content of pomegranate makgeolli increased as the addition level of pomegranate juice concentrate increased. The amino acid content of makgeolli significantly decreased with increasing addition level of pomegranate juice concentrate. In the sensory evaluation, makgeolli with 3% pomegranate juice concentrate added during one-step-brewing had the most preferable flavor, sweetness, bitterness and overall acceptance among all samples. In conclusion, the addition of 3% pomegranate juice concentrate during one-step-brewing for makgeolli would be the best conditions for manufacturing pomegranate makgeolli.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop a concrete public sign block for floors that can provide pedestrian safety and various information. Method: In order to achieve these research objectives, step-by-step block manufacturing techniques applied in relation to the development of public sign blocks were proposed, and the field applicability of the developed concrete public sign blocks was evaluated. Result: The concrete public sign block for floors developed in this study is expected to be capable of expressing public signs of various shapes and to reduce manufacturing cost. As a result of the usability evaluation for two years, no problems such as cracks, edge dropouts, discoloration, and abrasion were found, so it is judged that sufficient durability was secured. Conclusion: Based on these research results, it is expected that the concrete public sign block will be used as an alternative to secure the weaknesses such as stickers, stone and brass plates that have been used in the existing public sign for floors. It is expected that it can be applied in various fields.
