In recent times, STEM graduates are confronting a decline in employment rates influenced by economic, social, cultural, and policy-related factors. Career decisions are closely linked to education, college experiences, and university settings. To comprehend the reasons behind the decline in STEM employment, it is essential to explore the relationships among these factors. This study aims to comprehensively examine differences in career motivation and career exploration behavior among 2,393 STEM undergraduates in Korea. Additionally, factors affecting career motivation and career exploration behavior were investigated. The findings indicate significant differences in perceived career motivation and career exploration behavior based on individual backgrounds and university characteristics. And analyzing the data, 37.8% of career motivation is explained by contextual supports, career barriers, individual backgrounds (grade, GPA), university characteristics (major fields, location), field to enter after graduation, and timing of job preparation. For career exploration behavior, 30.1% is explained by contextual supports, career barriers, individual backgrounds (gender, grade, GPA), university characteristics (major field, location), field to enter after graduation, and timing of job preparation. Practical implications underscore the need for tailored educational and policy support, considering individual backgrounds and university characteristics, to effectively address challenges faced by STEM graduates in the evolving employment landscape.
In mammals, major progress has recently been made with the dissection of early embryonic cell specification, the isolation of stem cells from early embryos, and the production of embryonic-like stem cells from adult cells. These studies have overcome long-standing species barriers for stem cell isolation, have revealed a deeper than expected similarity of embryo cell types across species, and have led to a better understanding of the lineage identities of embryo-derived stem cells, most notably of mouse and human embryonic stem (ES) cells. Thus, it has now become possible to propose a species-overarching classification of embryo stem cells, which are defined here as pre- to early post-implantation conceptus-derived stem cell types that maintain embryonic lineage identities in vitro. The present article gives an overview of these cells and discusses their relationships with each other and the conceptus. Consequently, it is debated whether further embryo stem cell types await isolation, and the study of the earliest extraembryonically committed stem cells is identified as a promising new research field.
Stem rot of cacti was found at major cultivating areas including Koyang, Ansung and Eumsung of Korea in 2000. Bipolaris cactivora was consistently isolated from the lesions. The disease occurred on different species of cactus including Cereus peruvianus, C. neopithahaja f. monstruo년, C. tetragonus, Chamaeceresu silestrii, Ch. silvestrii, f. variegata, Gymnocalcium mihanovichii var. friedrichii. G. denudatum var. pentacantha, Hylocereus trigonus and Isolatocereus dumortier. Major symptoms on the cactus species except H. trigohus were almost identical. A rapid rot of the upper portion of the catus stem appeared, and became blackened and somewhat dry. On H. trigonus, the symptom was initially light yellow, water-soaked lesion, turned into light brown and dried to death. According to pathogenicity test, 10 out of 16 cactus species and varieties tested produced identical symptoms as found in the field. However, the fungi did not show pathogenicity to Notocactus scopa, Echinocactus grusonii, Eriocactus leninghausii, Lobivia nealeana, Mammillaria elongata var. intertexta.
Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) has expanded and evolved substantially in the last decades to treat various malignant and nonmalignant diseases. However, the conditioning regimen can lead to transplantation related death by major organ dysfunction, severe infection and bleeding. In the allogeneic setting, graft versus host disease may also develop, making post-transplant management complex. To overcome these problems, new stem cell sources, stem cell mobilizing agents and new skills, nonmyeloablative stem cell transplantation including reduced intensity stem cell transplantation has been introduced in clinical practice, but problems remained so far. Recipients of stem cell transplant may be severely immunocompromised for many months after transplantation. Furthermore, long-term complications (endocrine, metabolic, relapse, second malignancies, etc) can develop. Pediatrician is open called on to participate in the evaluation and consideration of patients for possible transplant and long-term follow-up of HSCT patients. This review is intended as a basic overview of HSCT relevant to general pediatrician.
Parents' desire for daily English practice for students and the urge for a etter English education has led to a demand for a highly qualified educational curriculum. In addition to getting deep-dive insights into parents' decision-making process, the increasingly important role of STEM education method has been proved in accordance with plenty of evidenced-based many of previous research. This study was conducted to examine the five independent factors affecting parents' intentions when designating English centers for their children, respectively named: Facility, Teachers, Brands, Social factors and Tuition. Through a preliminary approach, 235 samples were analyzed. Analysis of the sample responses reveals the importance level of five independent factors affecting Parents' intention to choose English centers in descending order: Facilities, Teachers, Brands, Tuition and Social factors. Furthermore, a positive correlation was found between STEM and Intention to choose English centers, indicating that whether the center applies STEM-related curriculum in English courses or not, in fact, has a significant impact on parents' decision. In terms of attitude towards STEM, further statistical tests revealed an interesting finding, which is the fact that how STEM affects Intention of parents is directly proportional to the Attitude towards STEM. With the help of SPSS 20 and AMOS 20, the SEM analysis was processed in order to draw conclusions about factors impacting Intentions to choose English centers. Combining with Multi-group analysis, the major role of STEM education has been assessed in relation to plenty of correlations. In light of recent major and massive growth of English teaching market in Vietnam, several suggestions and recommendations in terms of sustainable developments have been displayed in this research.

Adult stem cells can make identical copies of themselves for long periods of time. They also give rise to many differentiated mature cell types that have characteristic morphology and specialized function. Human adult stem cells are the attractive raw materials for the cell/tissue therapy, however, it is not easy to get from the adult tissues. In the present study, we tried to isolate a cell population derived from human umbilical cord vein which has been discarded after birth. The cells were isolated after treatment of the umbilical vein with collagenase or trypsin. After 3 days of culture, two kinds of cell populations were found consisting of adherent cells with endothelial cell-like and fibroblast-like morphology, respectively. When these cells were subcultured 12 times over a period of 3 months, almost cells appeared uniformly to exhibit fibroblastoid morphology which was different from that of mesenchymal stem cells obtained from human bone marrow The results of RT-PCR analyses showed distinct expression of BMP-4, oct-4, and SCF genes but not of GATA, PAX-6 and Brachyury genes. On immunohistochemical staining, the cells were negative for the von Willebrand factor(vWF), alpha-smooth muscle actin and placental alkaline phosphatase. From these observations, it is suggested that stem-like cells might be present in human umbilical cord vein.
The study was conducted to investigate the effect of rootstock on growth and early yield of stenting-propagated cut roses (Rosa hybrida Hort.) 'Pink Aurora' and 'Yellow King'. The scions, prepared as single-node cuttings, each with a five-leaflet leaf, were grafted onto cuttings of Rosa indica 'Major', Rosa multiflora 'Chille Wonye No. 1', Rosa multiflora 'K-1', or Rosa multiflora 'Burr' as the rootstock. The rootstock cuttings were removed of all leaves and buds before grafting. The base of scion and the top of rootstock were held together and simultaneously cut at a $45^{\circ}$ angle for ease of grafting. Scion-rootstock unions were stuck in rockwool cubes and placed on a misted glasshouse bench for rooting before being transplanted into a rockwool slabs for cultivation. Rooting was the greatest in the 'Pink Aurora' and 'Yellow King' grafted on the rootstock Rosa indica 'Major'. In 'Pink Aurora', stem length, stem diameter, five-leaflet leaves per stem, and stem fresh weight of the harvested cut flowers were not affected by the rootstock. The greatest total yield of 'Pink Aurora' was obtained in plants grafted onto the Rosa indica 'Major' rootstock. Overall growth of 'Yellow King' was the greatest in plants grafted onto Rosa multiflora 'Burr' rootstock, although total yield was not affected by the rootstock. These results suggest that Rosa indica 'Major' is the most effective rootstock not only for rooting, but also for early yield and growth for stenting propagation of these cut roses.
The monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes are analysed in the leaf and stem of Chrysanthemum boreale using gas chromaltography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The total amount of sesquiterpenes are always higher than monoterpenes in both leaf (2.0-3.4 times) and stem (1.6-8.3 times). The mono- and sesquiterpenes yields of the leaf are higher than the stem. There was no significant difference among the leaf developmental stages, while those of stem were varied. Seventeen monoterpenes and 9 sesquiterpenes compound in this plants comprised more than 5% of the mean total monoterpenes and the total sesquiterpenes in each dates. Among leaf monoterpenes, the concentration of (+)-Limonene and unknown compound no. 13 (Retention time, R.T.=17.28) varied significantly during leaf growing season, and the concentrafion of unknown compound no. 7 (R.T.=35.04) and no. 9(R.T.=35.71) varied in the leaf sesquiterpenes. Similarly the results from the leaf, the concentration of five monoterpenes in stem also varied significantly during maturing period, and much varied in seven compounds of stem sesquiterpene. The major sesquiterpenes of leaf and stem were ${\alpha}-Humulene$ and compound no. 2(R.T.=26.19).
