Recently, with the development of technology, social network service (SNS) has become a hot topic. Lots of companies are now making online marketing strategy to promote their products and brand identities using SNS. Through these strategies, companies can produce more profit as well as make better brand images by performing online public relations. Among the SNSs, Facebook has a lot of users, it has been regarded by companies as a suitable platform with respect to online marketing for latent customers. The companies of today typically have at least one account and a Facebook page, and constantly make relationships with customers. However, companies have been thoughtless in this process, and usually provide information to customers through one-way communication. Based on this phenomenon, a study was conducted herein on how to use Facebook pages for promoting products and brand identities, keeping good relationships between companies and customers. This study assumed that the types of interaction on Facebook pages and user involvement are the key factors affecting decision making of purchase. Four types of Facebook pages which were made virtually were used in analysis with 56 participants who were selected for the experiment. The results indicated partial verification of the hypothesis. Particularly, product involvement had an effect on decision making of purchase in all conditions. According to these results, it can be explained that there are close relationships between the psychological status of online behaviors and Facebook corporate pages. In addition, through linear tendency of this phenomenon, this can infer how to setup a positive relationship with latent customers and make improve brand images of products.
The present study explored the impact of personality and self-identity on online information acquisition, information transmission and the usage of SNSs. Participants were 180 students, SNS users, from a university in Korea. Among the participants, 171 students completed all surveys. As a results, personality traits such as openness, extraversion, agreeableness, neuroticism were positively related to the SNS usage and information behaviors. Social identity orientation was associated with time spent of SNS and the number of friends whereas collective identity orientation was related to information acquisition. As a result of multiple regression, time spent, openness, agreeableness, collective identity were significant predictors of information acquisition. The number of SNS in use, time spent of SNS, openness, neuroticism were predictors of information transmission. However, as the predictor of information transmission, neuroticism showed inverse relationship with information transmission.

SNS is a web-based online platform service supporting the formation of relations between users. SNS users have usually used a desktop or laptop for this purpose so far. However, the number of SNS users is greatly increasing and their access to the web is improving with the spread of smart phones. They share their daily lives with other users through SNSs. We can detect events if we analyze the contents that are left by SNS users, where the individual acts as a sensor. Such analyses have already been attempted by many researchers. In particular, Twitter is used in related spheres in various ways, because it has structural characteristics suitable for detecting events. However, there is a limitation concerning the detection of events and their locations. Thus, we developed a system that can detect the location immediately based on the district mentioned in Twitter. We tested whether the system can function in real time and evaluated its ability to detect events that occurred in reality. We also tried to improve its detection efficiency by removing noise.
This paper reviews the developments of econometric analysis and seeks a statistical applicability to current economic phenomena. During the last half century, economic analysis has progressed continuously, analyzing and predicting a broad variety of economic phenomena. In the center of this progress lies the remarkable contribution of econometrics and mathematical statistics. New economic research environment has been recently created via developments of IT and the spread of internet and SNSs. Economic phenomena has become increasingly complicated along with more volatile and sophisticated economic analysis. In that context, it can be suggested that there is a need to move beyond current economic paradigms and adapt new approaches such as complex theory and econophysics, all of which posits as a challenge for econometrics and statistics.

Previously, we described a social media cloud computing service environment (SMCCSE). This SMCCSE supports the development of social networking services (SNSs) that include audio, image, and video formats. A social media cloud computing PaaS platform, a core component in a SMCCSE, processes large amounts of social media in a parallel and distributed manner for supporting a reliable SNS. Here, we propose a Hadoop-based multimedia system for image and video transcoding processing, necessary functions of our PaaS platform. Our system consists of two modules, including an image transcoding module and a video transcoding module. We also design and implement the system by using a MapReduce framework running on a Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) and the media processing libraries Xuggler and JAI. In this way, our system exponentially reduces the encoding time for transcoding large amounts of image and video files into specific formats depending on user-requested options (such as resolution, bit rate, and frame rate). In order to evaluate system performance, we measure the total image and video transcoding time for image and video data sets, respectively, under various experimental conditions. In addition, we compare the video transcoding performance of our cloud-based approach with that of the traditional frame-level parallel processing-based approach. Based on experiments performed on a 28-node cluster, the proposed Hadoop-based multimedia transcoding system delivers excellent speed and quality.
This study examines the feelings of positivity and negativity generated through upward social comparison and explores the impact of the results of the emotions on SNS users' posting behavior. In particular, this study aims to systematically identify the influence of upward social comparison on SNS followers and uploaders' SNS usage behavior and the structural principle of social network circulation in which followers become uploaders again. According to the analysis, interaction-oriented followers made negative upward social comparison and positive upward social comparison, while negative upward social comparison reduced the publication of independence tendency. However, positive upward social comparison has been shown to increase both independent and interactive postings. The results of this study are meaningful in that SNS has expanded the results of prior studies, in which social comparison theories were biased toward negative upward comparisons, to positive upward comparisons. In addition, this study suggested a practical strategy for SNS platform operators on how SNS users would not deviate from other platforms.

The evolution of the IT facilitated the social actions of the consumers by supporting social communication of the online users. At the same time it help for the consumer to post malicious comments on the Internet or to spread the unproven news for distorting the public opinion in the SNSs. Although the number of the consumer unethical behaviors and the estimated damage of the innocent companies have been increased, a few studies had investigate on this issue. Based on the Literature on the consumer unethical behaviors and the institution based trust, we had developed the defense strategies against the consumer unethical behaviors. This study would introduce the new perspective that the consumer could always not be innocent. Also, the defense strategy developed in this study could contribute to make the guideline for consumer service manual.
Purpose The purpose of this study is to explore the pattern of user response and it's duration time through social media content response analysis. We also analyze the characteristics of content quality factors which are associate with the user response pattern. The analysis results will provide some implications to develop strategies and schematic plans for the operator of regional marketing on the SNS. Design/methodology/approach This study used mixed methods to verify the effects and responses of social media contents on the users who have concerns about regional events such as local festival, cultural events, and city tours etc. Big data analysis was conducted with the quantitative data from regional government SNSs. The data was collected through web crawling in order to analyze the social media contents. We especially analyzed the contents duration time and peak level time. This study also analyzed the characteristics of contents quality factors using expert evaluation data on the social media contents. Finally, we verify the relationship between the contents quality factors and user response types by cross correlation analysis. Findings According to the big data analysis, we could find some content life cycle which can be explained through empirical distribution with peak time pattern and left skewed long tail. The user response patterns are dependent on time and contents quality. In addition, this study confirms that the level of quality of social media content is closely relate to user interaction and response pattern. As a result of the contents response pattern analysis, it is necessary to develop high quality contents design strategy and content posting and propagation tactics. The SNS operators need to develop high quality contents using rich-media technology and active response contents that induce opinion leader on the SNS.
Social Network Service(SNS) has become a hot trend as a web service which helps users construct social relationships in the web and enables online communication. The information about user activities and behaviors obtained from the SNSs is expected to be an useful knowledge source for other services such as recommendation services. Most of previous researches on SNS rely on analyzing overall network topology and surveying the activities in a one-dimensional aspect. This paper propose a system for measuring multi-dimensional interaction through the activities in a SNS. The proposed system delivers an unified profile (consisting of profile and multi-dimension interaction) model from user-activities in Twitter.com. At the experimental section, some meaningful perspectives on a set of the unified profiles are described.
In wireless body sensor system(WB-SNSs), unlike existing sensor network system, the size of device is small and amount of battery is considerably limited. And various channel environments can be made by link channel characteristic, human movements, sensor placements, transmission power control(TPC) algorithms and so on. In this paper, therefore we take diverse experiments with totally considerated environments to overcome these restrictions and to manage the energy efficiently and find the value of target received signal strength indicator(RSSI) based on diverse factors such as human movements, sensor placements, and TPC algorithms. And we conduct analysis in terms of energy consumption and packet delivery rate(PDR) based on the experimental results. Through these analysis, we compare and evaluate the efficiency according to setup values of Target RSSI and Target RSSI range suitable for wireless body sensor network system.
