  • The evolution of IT facilitated the communication and knowledge sharing between the social network service (SNS) users. When the more information about SNS users had been posted in SNS site, SNS users had sometimes exposed in the risk of privacy invasion. To remedy this problem, we had introduced the information control mechanisms from the prior studies in data management to the SNS area and empirically validated the effect of these mechanisms in this research. Three information control mechanisms had been elected as access control, reference control and diffusion control. We had conducted a survey to the Facebook users which is the most famous SNS site. 459 data had been gathered and analyzed by PLS algorism. As the results, reference control and diffusion control has significantly increased the trust on SNS providers and decrease the privacy concern. This change could significantly affect on the satisfaction with the SNS site and knowledge sharing intention of SNS users. This study could introduce the new perspective about privacy protection issues in SNS area. Also, the information control mechanisms suggested in this study could contribute to make more robust privacy protection mechanisms in SNS site in practice.

  • Social Network Service (SNS) such as Twitter and Facebook has explosively grown nationwide since iPhone was introduced to Korea in 2009. In addition, KakaoStory has recently opened and joined to the SNS market, and it has grown to one of the most popular SNS in the domestic market in a short period of time. Social Network Service supports not only the formation of relationship between SNS users in common interests but also various activities such as management of personal connections and the sharing of information or contents. These three types of SNS have several common functions of sharing and distributing various contents rooted on the personal relationship formed through SNS. As each SNS user has specific reasons for the use of each service, a survey was conducted targeting those who use all of Twitter, Facebook, and KakaoStory was drawn by the statistical analyses of survey answers on users' reasons for each service. This result of study suggests factors to consider in order to exploit a new SNS or to enhance an existing service and can be used as a standard of which SNS for users to select for their own different purposes. It will also provide the basic data for the trust formation, one of the ethics in the upcoming Social Era.

TALK or PUSH provide services using TCP/IP software in operation system through massage or data by socket. Thus, SNS and mobile convergence are necessary and new service is constructed using platform of SNS. In this paper, we design and implement TALK and PUSH services between clients by location based SNS using the socket type.

  • This study examines how the features of communication on Social Network Service(SNS) affect building faculty trust and long-term orientation in professor-student relationships. The research model was developed based on the previous research about communication, SNS and relationship development. The researcher surveyed 210 students to collect research data, and 195 questionnaires were analyzed using SmartPLS. The results indicate that the quality, frequency, interactivity and openness of communication on SNS affect positively on faculty trust. Moreover, the quality, frequency and openness of communication on SNS affect positively on long-term orientation, whereas interactivity does not. This mean that faculty trust plays a mediating role between interactivity and long-term orientation.

  • Many companies are now trying to utilize SNS (social network service) by building it as marketing communication platform that delivers marketing messages and builds customer relationship. This study investigates the factors affecting consumers' intention to use of brand's SNS identity page (e.g., fan page in Facebook). It specifically focuses on four social support functions -self-esteem, informational, emotional and social networking support-in virtual space. Research model attempts to explore the impact of social supports on brands' SNS identity page adoption with modified technology acceptance model which includes perceived usefulness, ease of use and enjoyment. Empirical study adopts SEM (structural equation modelling) to test research model. The result indicates that perceived ease of use is influenced by informational support, and perceived usefulness is influenced by informational, emotional, and self-esteem support. And perceived enjoyment is influenced by emotional support. In addition, it reveals that there were no significant effects of social networking support on both perceived usefulness and enjoyment. These findings provide managerial implications for attracting potential and actual customers to brand's SNS identity page. And it also suggests the importance of managing sociability in brand's SNS identity page to make it as marketing communication platform.

Based on prior studies on use and gratifications of Internet-related media and SNS, information motivation, relationship motivation, pleasure/entertainment motivation, self-expression motivation, work motivation were identified as usage motivation of closed type SNS. According to the results, relationship motivation and work motivation were found to be significantly related to the satisfaction. • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to test fitness of the structured model of SNS activities for health information. Methods : A structured questionnaire were administered to 500 subjects. A structural equation model was applied to collected data. Results : The response rate was 73.9%. The respondents mostly used Facebook and KakaoStory. They spent 70 minutes per day and 21~30% of this usage was taken by health information. In the variances, those who has religion more actively exchanged information about diseases and medical institutions. The goodness-of-fit of the model was .81(GFI) and .90(CFI). The main path was bridging capital -> bonding capital -> credibility -> SNS activities for health information. The path from quality of sharing information to SNS activities was not significant. It could be explained by the restriction of digital literacy. Conclusions : SNS activities for health information were determined by credibility, currency and bonding social capital. Bridging social capital, indirectly, influenced SNS activities through bonding social capital. Thus building bonding social capital would be a critical success factor for SNS.

  • This study proposes a customized SNS operational strategy for special libraries based on a case study on the Ocean Science Library (OSL) of South Korea. The study conducted an in-depth analysis on an organizational structure, manpower, contents, and promotion. The outcome of SNS operational strategy deducted from this study can be categorized into several items, including: (1) a selection of an appropriate SNS channel, which meets the objective of the operation; (2) a formal division of works for SNS operation; (3) a designation of full-time managers and an establishment of a task force team; (4) a specialization of contents according to specific subjects; (5) on/off-line promotions focused on events, which encourage participations; (6) an improvement of contents through regular log analyses; and (7) a promotion of library website access through SNS, and so on. This research also suggested the strategies for the development of SNS operation: strengthening of communication and cooperation among librarians; distribution of academic and research outcomes of the umbrella organization; enhancement of a role as a communication channel between librarians and users, and carry out a role as a 'social curator.'
