Improving BER Performance of IEEE 802.15.4 with Alamouti Scheme in MIMO System (MIMO 시스템에서 ALAMOUTI 기법과 IEEE 802.15.4의 BER 성능 개선)

  • This paper proposes a technique for applying space-time block coding (STBC) - Alamouti scheme on Multiple Inputs Multiple Output (MIMO) system based on IEEE 802.15.4 standard. It is applied to IEEE 802.15.4 standard in $2{\times}1$ MISO and $2{\times}2$ MIMO systems. Simulation is performed using Matlab and the results are compared with conventional IEEE 802.15.4 approaches, Single Input Single Output (SISO) system and switching diversity $1{\times}2$ Single Input Multiple Output (SIMO) system. The simulations show that applied Alamouti scheme gave better Bit Error Rate (BER) performance compared to combined IEEE 802.15.4 with switching diversity and SISO system.

Data-based Stability Analysis for MIMO Linear Time-invariant Discrete-time Systems

  • This paper presents a data-based stability analysis of a MIMO linear time-invariant discrete-time system, as an extension of the previous results for a SISO system. In the MIMO case, a similar discussion as in the case of a SISO system is also applied, except that an augmented input and output space is considered whose dimension is determined in relation to both the orders of the input and output vectors and the numbers of inputs and outputs. As certain subspaces of the input and output space, both output data space and closed-loop data space are defined, which contain all the behaviors of a system, respectively, with zero input in open-loop and with a control input in closed-loop. Then, we can derive the data-based stability conditions, in which the open-loop stability can be checked by using a data matrix whose column vectors span the output data space and the closed-loop stability can also be checked by using a data matrix whose column vectors span the closed-loop data space.

  • A stability analysis technique has been proposed for linear SISO system associated with fuzzy logic controller. An analysis technique using the concept of well-known sector bound nonlinearity and its graphical interpretation, i.e., the circle criterion, is presented. Thus the use of classical Nyquist locus and the BODE diagram is brought into the picture. The aim of this present note is to represent a graphical approach based on sector bound nonlinearity and circle criterion for assessing the performance(degree of stability) of the linear SISO system associated with fuzzy logic controller. The degree of stability of the system is defined in terms of its gain and phase margins as defined in Section 3.

  • In this paper, we will investigate the position estimation problem for autonomous mobile robots. Formulating this as a state estimation problem for nonlinear SISO system, then we will apply several types of nonlinear observers.   • Generally, multi-path is viewed as an undesirable feature of wireless communications. Therefore, diversity reception and adaptive array schemes are proposed to mitigate its effects. Recently, to increase the spectrum efficiency and the link reliability, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) scheme is devised to exploit multi-path in a scattering wireless channel. In this paper, we have evaluated the channel capacity of MIMO Multi-Carrier CDMA system in path correlation fading channel. And, the channel capacity of MIMO system is compared with single-input single-output (SISO) system. From the results, the MIMO multi-carrier CDMA system with path correlation yields better performance with respect to channel capacity than a SISO system.

  • Using simple linear prediction algorithm a design procedure of robust PI and PID controllers for SISO system, usually called 'PID predictor controllers, is developed. The design procedure is able to properly adjust gain margin and phase margin and control coefficients are selected in frequency domain. The performance of the PID predictor controller is superior to that of the normal PID controller in terms of robustness in design and disturbance rejection.

  • This paper presents a performance analysis of the multiple sliding mode control for SISO system. The multiple sliding mode control technique uses sliding surfaces for each state. The performance analysis is done by comparison between the multiple sliding mode control and the sliding mode control. Overall performance of the multiple sliding mode control is improved over that of the sliding mode control. Results of numerical simulations are presented.

  • In this paper, we evaluate the bit error rate (BER) performance for uplink communication of WiBro system when smart antenna technology is employed. It is shown that, by exploiting beamforming technology, smart antenna-based WiBro system shows improved performance by more than 4 dB in SNR compared to single input single output (SISO) system under one-path Rayhleigh fading channel condition.

  • A robust adaptive control method for a stable nonminimum phase SISO system with unmodelled dynamics is proposed. The robust parameter estimation method of the system with bounded output noise and unmodelled dynamics is employed and a parallel structure is proposed to improve the robustness of adaptive control system. The local stability of the proposed system is shown. Computer simulations are done in order to compare the performance of the proposed structure with the basic structure on various circumstance.

  • This paper presents an algorithm of identifying parametric uncertainty by way of an interval model. For a given set of frequency response data from an uncertain linear SISO system of which the upper and the lower bounds of both magnitude and phase responses are represented, the proposed algorithm consists of two main parts: first, the nominal model is identified by using Least Square Estimation (LSE), and then an interval model is constructed by expanding the extremal properties of interval systems, so that tightly enclose the given envelopes within those of interval model. Two numerical examples are given to demonstrate and verify the developed algorithm. The identified interval model can be used for evaluating the worst case performance and stability margins against parametric uncertainty by using some extremal properties on interval systems.
