  • In the case of the requirement of high speed transmission, OFDM is a powerful technique employed in communications systems suffering from frequency selective fading. In this paper, we apply an optimal adaptive bitloading algorithm technique. The BER performance of the fixed-rate SISO and adaptive SISO is simulated. Specially, we can decompose the MIMO channel into the SISO channel by making use of the singular value decomposition(SVD) assuming channel knowledge in a multipath environment. As a results of simulation, we confirmed that the BER enhancement of MIMO-OFDM system with the bitloadins algorithm was superior to the SISO-OFDM system.

  • Iterative detection (ID) has proven to be a near-optimal solution for concatenated Finite State Machines (FSMs) with interleavers over an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. When perfect channel state information (CSI) is not available at the receiver, an adaptive ID (AID) scheme is required to deal with the unknown, and possibly time-varying parameters. The basic building block for ID or AID is the soft-input soft-output (SISO) or adaptive SISO (A-SISO) module. In this paper, Reduced State SISO (RS-SISO) algorithms have been applied for complexity reduction of the A-SISO module. We show that serially concatenated CPM (SCCPM) with AID has turbo-like performance over fading ISI channels and also RS-A-SISO systems have large iteration gains. Various design options for RS-A-SISO algorithms are evaluated. Recently developed density evolution technique is used to analyze RS-A-SISO algorithms. We show that density evolution technique that is usually used for AWGN systems is also a good analysis tool for RS-A-SISO systems over frequency-selective fading channels.

  • This study proposes a bi-directional buck-boost converter controller design method for ESS using the MATLAB SISO tool. The conventional two-loop controller design is based on a continuous S-domain model that designs each controller independently. The demerit of the conventional method is that optimal performance is not easily achieved and extensive trials and errors are required because two-loop systems interact with one another. Using the MATLAB SISO tool based on the design method proposed in this work overcomes the disadvantages of the conventional method. In the proposed method, the SISO tool can select the location of the poles and zeroes of the open loop system, thereby facilitating the effective design of a high-performance controller. The design sequence is detailed systematically, and the performance of the method is verified with a computer simulation and 10 kW experimental system.

  • This paper presents the development of a microcomputer-aided design program for a SISO control system. The program has been written in GWBASIC language which is suitable for Intel 80861 CPU with 640KB memory. By utilizing this program, sampling time, the number of bits for the A/D and D/A converter, and the stability for the digital control system can be determined. To demonstrate the utility of this program, a microcomputer controlled precision temperature control system has been employed as an example.

  • Generally, multi-path is viewed as an undesirable feature of wireless communications. Therefore, diversity reception and adaptive array schemes are proposed to mitigate its effects. Recently, to increase the spectrum efficiency and the link reliability, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) scheme is devised to exploit multi-path in a scattering wireless channel. In this paper, we have evaluated the channel capacity of MIMO Multi-Carrier CDMA system in path correlation fading channel. And, the channel capacity of MIMO system is compared with single-input single-output (SISO) system. From the results, the MIMO multi-carrier CDMA system with path correlation yields better performance with respect to channel capacity than a SISO system.

  • In this paper, we have studied the performance of the AOA (Angle of Arrival) in multi-antenna systems for LBS (Location Based Services) and we also analyzed the performance of the AOA in SISO (Single Input Single Output) in multipath environments and their differences. The adequacy of AOA positioning in new communication environments was determined. Currently used positioning methods in 3G communication environment has been developed based on SISO. However, the accuracy of SISO-based TOA (Time of Arrival), TDOA (Time Difference of Arrival), AOA positioning techniques degraded in multipath environments. The communication system will be changed and developed. According to enhanced positioning techniques are required. Using antenna characteristics and the phase difference between antennas of LTE-Advanced standard's key technique MIMO system AOA positioning, and SISO based AOA positioning performance were analyzed. We found that AOA technique potential for use based on Multiple antenna systems by computer simulations.

  • This paper is concerned with the theoretical estimation of the single-input single-output(SISO) positive position feedback(PPF) controller and the derivation of the stability conditions for the multi-input multi-output (MIMO) PPF controller. Although the stability condition for the SISO PPF controller was derived in the earlier works, the question regarding the performance estimation of the SISO PPF controller has never been studied theoretically. Hence, the SISO PPF controller for the single degree-of-freedom system was first investigated and then control parameters including gain, the filter frequency, and the damping factor of the PPF controller were analyzed in detail thus providing the design methodology for the SISO PPF controller. In the case of real structure. there are infinite number of natural modes so that some modes are to be controlled by a limited number of actuator and sensor. Based on the theoretical results on the SISO PPF controller, the stability condition for the multi-input multi-output PPF controller was derived when only the few number of modes are to be controlled. The control spillover problem is also discussed in detail.

  • In this paper, an alternate method for state-covariance assignment for SISO(single input singe output) linear systems is proposed. This method is based on the inverse solution of the Lyapunov matrix equation and the resulting formulas are similar in structure to the formulas for pole placement. Further, the set of all assignable covariance matrices to a SISO linear system is also characterized.

  • In this paper, we propose the implementation and performance analysis of power line communication based on SISO/MIMO-OFDM which focuses on high speed data transmission in smart grid and future power line grid. We employ Zimmermann frequency model and Middleton Class A model as the multipath power line fading channel and impulse noise channel, respectively. In this paper, in order to improve the three-phase or single-phase PLC performance, we introduce a new MRC (called a&f-MRC) which effectively sums up multiple antenna diversity gain and multipath fading diversity gain. Via simulation, we prove the performance advantage over existing SISO/MIMO systems. In addition, we offer the tradeoff on system design through comparing with MRC, EGC and SC.

  • This paper deals with the relationship between zeros and step response of the second and third order LTI(Linear Time Invariant) SISO(Single-Input and Single-Output) systems. As well known, if a system has a single unstable zero, it shows the step response with undershoot and, on the other hand, a stable zero slower than the dominant pole causes the system to have the step response with overshoot. Generally, in the case of a system with two unstable real zeros, it is known to have B type undershoot[7]. But there are many complex cases of the step response extrema corresponding to zeros location in third order systems. This paper investigates the whole cases depending on DC gains of the additive equivalence systems and they are to be classified by the region of zeros which are related to the shape of the step response. Moreover, monotone nondecreasing conditions are proposed in the case of complex conjugate zeros as well as the case of two stable zeros.
