In this study, we developed a feasible structure of a textile-based inductive sensor using a machine embroidery method, and applied it to a non-contact type vital sign sensing device based on the principle of magnetic-induced conductivity. The mechanical heart activity signals acquired through the inductive sensor embroidered with conductive textile on fabric were compared with the Lead II ECG signals and with respiration signals, which were simultaneously measured in every case with five subjects. The analysis result showed that the locations of the R-peak in the ECG signal were highly associated with sharp peaks in the signals obtained through the textile-based inductive sensor (r=0.9681). Based on the results, we determined the feasibility of the developed textile-based inductive sensor as a measurement device for the heart rate and respiration characteristics.
This study investigates the factors determining accounting method for R&D costs (capitalizevs. expense) in Korea. Using agency theory and other economic factors, probit and regression model have been developed to distinguish between firms choosing different accounting alternatives for R&D costs. The results are consistent to debt contract, R&D burden and regulation hypotheses both in probit and regression analysis. The size variable has opposite sign in univariate t-test and probit analysis, which may be due to the differences of political environment between Korea and the US. Generally, the results are consistent to those of previous research. The evidence suggests that larger firms with higher leverage and larger burden of R&D costs are more likely to capitalize R&D costs, while regulated firms are more likely to expense R&D costs.
Purpose: Pain management is often needlessly suboptimal. Health care professionals are seldom trained in pain management, may not realize the importance of pain management or recognize that a patient is in pain, and may fear prescribing opioid medications. Noting that one of the problems related to health care professionals is poor assessment of pain, we studied a trend of pain severity and satisfaction with pain controls after using TTS-fentanyl in order to determine whether a regular pain assessment was effective for controlling cancer pain. Methods: We assessed the pain as a $5^{th}$ vital sign after using TTS-fentanyl in 471 hospitalized cancer patients during 4 days. The data were collected from September, 2003 to December, 2003. Pain severity was assessed by using a numeric pain intensity scale($0{\sim}10$) by ongoing pain assessment. Results: Pain assessment as a $5^{th}$ vital sign had led to reduce patient's pain scores. High degrees of satisfaction scores in both patients and doctors with TTS-fentanyl were observed. They were also negatively correlated with the pain severity. Conclusion: Regular pain assessment was effective in the management of cancer pain.
This study attempts to empirically investigate the effects of government R&D subsidies on private firm's R&D investment in Korean industry. The R&D subsidy effect is defined as the average percentage change in firm's R&D expenditures between what was actually observed among firms that received a subsidy and what these firms would have spent had the subsidy not been received. To measure the effect we use Difference-in-Differences (DID) model which sign as to whether the relationship between government subsidies and private R&D investments is on stimulating or displacing private R&D expenditures. The differences between this study and previous studies are that we tries to measure the effect of Government R&D across various sited firm groups such as large, small & medium, and venture firms and we add one lag of the subsidy indicator in order to capture the effect of the subsidies on private R&D during 2 consecutive period. Empirically, a firm with government R&D subsidy increases its own R&D investment by 13.9%. Also on average, 1% of government R&D subsidy leads to 0.031% of private R&D increase. The main results of this study are as follows : First, Government R&D subsidies stimulate private firm's R&D expenditures. Second, Government R&D subsidies greatly increase (statistically significant) company financed R&D expenditures only for large firms but had no effect on the R&D expenditures of small & medium sized firms and venture firms.
Consider a class of p(x)-Kirchhoff type equations of the form $$\left\{-M\left({\int}_{\Omega}\;\frac{1}{p(x)}{\mid}{\nabla}u{\mid}^{p(x)}\;dx\right)\;div\;({\mid}{\nabla}u{\mid}^{p(x)-2}{\nabla}u)={\lambda}V(x){\mid}u{\mid}^{q(x)-2}u\;in\;{\Omega},\\u=0\;on\;{\partial}{\Omega},$$ where p(x), $q(x){\in}C({\bar{\Omega}})$ with 1 < $p^-\;:=inf_{\Omega}\;p(x){\leq}p^+\;:=sup_{\Omega}p(x)$ < N, $M:{\mathbb{R}}^+{\rightarrow}{\mathbb{R}}^+$ is a continuous function that may be degenerate at zero, ${\lambda}$ is a positive parameter. Using variational method, we obtain some existence and multiplicity results for such problem in two cases when the weight function V (x) may change sign or not.
In this paper, we consider the asymptotic behavior of solutions of the forced nonlinear neutral difference equation $\Delta[x(n)-\sumpi(n)x(n-k_i)]+\sumqj(n)f(x(n-\iota_j))=r(n)$ with sign changing coefficients. Some sufficient conditions for every solution of (*) to tend to zero are established. The results extend and improve some known theorems in literature.

A signed 3-partite graph is a 3-partite graph in which each edge is assigned a positive or a negative sign. Let G(U, V, W) be a signed 3-partite graph with $U\;=\;\{u_1,\;u_2,\;{\cdots},\;u_p\},\;V\;=\;\{v_1,\;v_2,\;{\cdots},\;v_q\}\;and\;W\;=\;\{w_1,\;w_2,\;{\cdots},\;w_r\}$. Then, signed degree of $u_i(v_j\;and\;w_k)$ is $sdeg(u_i)\;=\;d_i\;=\;d^+_i\;-\;d^-_i,\;1\;{\leq}\;i\;{\leq}\;p\;(sdeg(v_j)\;=\;e_j\;=\;e^+_j\;-\;e^-_j,\;1\;{\leq}\;j\;{\leq}q$ and $sdeg(w_k)\;=\;f_k\;=\;f^+_k\;-\;f^-_k,\;1\;{\leq}\;k\;{\leq}\;r)$ where $d^+_i(e^+_j\;and\;f^+_k)$ is the number of positive edges incident with $u_i(v_j\;and\;w_k)$ and $d^-_i(e^-_j\;and\;f^-_k)$ is the number of negative edges incident with $u_i(v_j\;and\;w_k)$. The sequences ${\alpha}\;=\;[d_1,\;d_2,\;{\cdots},\;d_p],\;{\beta}\;=\;[e_1,\;e_2,\;{\cdots},\;e_q]$ and ${\gamma}\;=\;[f_1,\;f_2,\;{\cdots},\;f_r]$ are called the signed degree sequences of G(U, V, W). In this paper, we characterize the signed degree sequences of signed 3-partite graphs.
The purpose of this investigation was to study histopathological chronology and differences of the proprietary pulpcapping agents. One hundred eighty molars from thrity rats (Srague-Dawley species), weighing about 130gm, were divided into six groups. Cavities were prepared in their maxillary molars under intraperitoneal anesthesia with Secobarbital. The cavities in the right first and second molars were filled with Dycal$^{(R)}$ and the left ones were with Cavitec$^{(R)}$. Each group of rats were sacrificed at the intervals of 1, 3, 5, 7, 14 and 21 days following operation. The rats were decapituated, and the jaws were fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin. Then the specimens were decalcified, embedded in paraffin or celloid, and sectioned at 6-8 ${\mu}$ in thickness through the cavities included and pulp mesiodistally. They were stained with Hematoxylin-Eosin and examined by lightmicroscope. The results were as follow: 1. The pattern of pulp healing was dependent upon the presence and character of the pulpcapping agents above. 2. Dentin bridge formation as a sign of pulp healing occurred in the 14 days after operation. 3. Dycal$^{(R)}$ reparation appeared to favor pulp bealing rather than Cavitec$^{(R)}$ preparation. 4. In the odontoblastic layer and pulp tissue specific vaculoes were showed at the 3, 5 and 7 days of the Dycal filling.

Trend of R&D expenditure in Korea during the last 10 years, the R&D expenditure has been constantly increasing at an average rate of 10%. The government R&D ekpenditures or subsidies are increasing rapidly But the studies of evaluating impact of government R&D subsidies are few. This study attempts to empirically investigate the effects of government R&D subsidies on private firm's R&D investment in Korean industry by using Propensity score matching method which sign as to whether the relationship between government subsidies and private R&D investments is on stimulating or displacing private R&D expenditures. Empirically, a firm with government R&D subsidy are 733 million dollar more expenditure then don't receive any government R&D funding. Also Government R&D subsidies greatly increase (statistically significant) company financed R&D expenditures only for large firms but had no effect on the R&D expenditures of small & medium sized firms and venture firms.

As the application field of radar is expanded and the bandwidth increases, the number of radar sensors operating at the same frequency is continuously increasing. In this paper, we propose a method of analyzing interference when two pulse doppler radars are operated at the same frequency with different waveform which are designed independently. In addition, we show that even for a previously designed LFM waveforms, the interference can be suppressed without affecting the performance by changing the sign of the frequency slope by increasing/decreasing, or by modulating the pulses by the different codes. The interference suppression by different slopes is more effective for similar waveform and the suppression by the codes increases as the number of pulses increases. We expect this result can be extended to the cases where multiple radars are operated at the same frequency.
