A DNA Sequence Alignment Algorithm Using Quality Information and a Fuzzy Inference Method (품질 정보와 퍼지 추론 기법을 이용한 DNA 염기 서열 배치 알고리즘)

  • DNA sequence alignment algorithms in computational molecular biology have been improved by diverse methods. In this paper, we proposed a DNA sequence alignment algorithm utilizing quality information and a fuzzy inference method utilizing characteristics of DNA sequence fragments and a fuzzy logic system in order to improve conventional DNA sequence alignment methods using DNA sequence quality information. In conventional algorithms, DNA sequence alignment scores were calculated by the global sequence alignment algorithm proposed by Needleman-Wunsch applying quality information of each DNA fragment. However, there may be errors in the process for calculating DNA sequence alignment scores in case of low quality of DNA fragment tips, because overall DNA sequence quality information are used. In the proposed method, exact DNA sequence alignment can be achieved in spite of low quality of DNA fragment tips by improvement of conventional algorithms using quality information. And also, mapping score parameters used to calculate DNA sequence alignment scores, are dynamically adjusted by the fuzzy logic system utilizing lengths of DNA fragments and frequencies of low quality DNA bases in the fragments. From the experiments by applying real genome data of NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information), we could see that the proposed method was more efficient than conventional algorithms using quality information in DNA sequence alignment.

  • e-Learning education system as the next educational trend supporting remote and multimedia education. However, the students stay mainly at remote place and it is hard to certificate whether he is really studying now or not. To solve this problem, some solutions were proposed such as instructor's supervision by real time motion picture or message exchanging. Unhappily, as you can see, it needs much cost to establish the motion exchanging system and trampling upon human rights could occasion to reduce the student's will. Accordingly, we propose the new intelligent system based on face recognition to reduce the system cost. The e-Learning system running on the web page can check the student's status by motion image, and the images transfer to the instructor. For this study, 20 students and one instructor takes part in capturing and recognizing the face images. And the result produces the prevention the leave of students from lecture and improvement of attention.

  • In order to see a possible strengthening of much injection of synthetic resin into timber by way of electric osmosis, Authors examined the change of the bending strength of the sample timber piece after being injected. 1. Three kinds of sample tree species, Pinus rigida, Magnolia and Populus were used and the size of the sample timber pieces was $30mm{\times}30mm{\times}330mm$. 2. Each of the electric osmosis was made with 250V of D. C. voltage and $0.01A/cm^2$ of the current for 2 hours and the experimenter hardened the injected resin by putting the sample in an oven of $120^{\circ}{\pm}2^{\circ}C$ temperature for 24 hours. 3. The size of the test sample piece for bending strength measurement was $20mm{\times}20mm{\times}320mm$ and Amsler type universal timber test machine was used for the measurement. 4.   • The purpose of this study is to see relationship between middle school students' cellular phone consumption behavior and their mothers' consumer education. A survey was conducted with middle school students at nine middle schools in Gyeongnam who possessed a cellular phone and their mothers(1,080 in total). The results of this study are as follows: First, middle school students' cellular phone consumption behavior was relatively at the average level or higher: they were best at A/S and change and refund and were at the average level in collecting and using information for purchase followed by contract. This consumption behavior was associated with such variables as gender, academic performance, and monthly pocket money. Second, as for consumer education for middle school students' mothers in general, purchase education was most highly recognized, followed by citizenship education and value education. However, value education was relatively weak, which should be reinforced. Mothers' consumer education was associated with children's grade, academic performance and monthly pocket money. Third, since middle school students' desirable cellular phone consumption behavior was strongly associated with their mothers' consumer education, it is highly urgent to improve the quality of consumer education by mothers at home.

A forth of them is story about women. There were 4 types of women in the book. cautious women and women to see through a covered fact.Women who have a lot of authority, women who ask a man something, The women cautious women are generally a royal family. They tried to stabilize their royal family and nation. The way to stabilize was a good behavior. Women who have authority harms equitably and authenticity of official business. Requesting women, also, harm fairness of official business. Gongsageunmunrok has many different meanings like the following. First of all, There are women life of royal family's women in the book. Second, It is the book which can be based on later stories about women. Lee Geng-ik(李肯翊) rewrote on Yeunreusilgisul(燃藜室記述). Especially, Kim Reu rewrote the story titled 'Hansukwonjeon(韓淑媛傳)'. Sung Hae-eung,also, rewote Han Bo-hyang's story. Third, There are many stories with the life of court maid. It is useful to study all the life of court maid, political events and current events. Theatricality of Absence: Male Identity and O'Neill's Self-reflection in Before Breakfast (부재의 연극성-『조식 전』에서 남성 정체성과 오닐의 자기반영)

  • Eugene O'Neill's one-act play Before Breakfast (1916) depicts a morning scene of a married couple who live in a slovenly flat at Greenwich Village. There is no apparent dramatic action occurring in the play. Instead, the play is full of Mrs. Rowland's incessant complaints about her husband Alfred's loafing around bars with artists friends, neglecting his role as breadwinner. An irony is that every morning she prepares breakfast for the good-for-nothing husband even in the moment of complaining. It is worth noting that Alfred is an 'unseen character' who is never directly observed by the audience but is only described by her wife. Deprived of all chances to speak and present himself on stage, he is kept in the room throughout the play. In contrast, Mrs. Rowland dominates the stage, monopolizing language and action. The audience has to listen to her, judge from her statements, and take her one-sided complaints. The accused husband, with zero chance of showing up and defending himself, has no choice but to be the sinner as the wife intends. Another irony is that the audience's feeling about the situation is quite different from what is expected. The wife's complaints are regarded to be unfair and groundless in the reason that the situation is monopolized by her. In case of the husband, in contrast, the loss of voice and presence stresses the injustice of his dead-lock situation. In other words, the 'absent' quality of Alfred works to evoke the audience's sympathy for himself and subsequently makes his presence recognized, not visually but emotionally, by the audience throughout the play. Discovered in this paradoxical moment where the spectators understand or 'see' the status of the unseen and the devoiced message is successfully conveyed to the listeners, is the theatricality of absence. Adding to the function as theatrical device, the 'unseen character' Alfred works as a device of self-reflection to mirror the author's own life. Alfred, the alter-ego of O'Neill, effectively exorcises the author's life-long feeling of guilty as the unfaithful husband and father in the unhappy first marriage, successfully evoking the audience's sympathy for himself.

We try to do a great deal in self-culture to know his own self-nature with miscellaneous ways as Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. When we are faced with a difficult problem in life, We utilize own knowledge and wisdom to solve them. Thus there are many result of answer what self-confidence is throughout the devoting oneself to the study of man's life which is expressed poetry and prose. We can see the aspect of liberty life in their poetry and prose which is escaping from their restraints as they are willing to find out their own self-nature and want to attain a state of perfect self-nature in every day life. And they are anxious to be born again in spiritual value and to be a man in liberty with removing the narrow-mindedness, the stupidity, the anger and the absolute ego in their mind. That's what we are want to achieve man's purpose understanding of the human being's life. Here, I have a good such example who is Tao yuan ming. It is not easy to give up fame and wealth for maintaining his doctrines. So We have a high regard for this wisdom between entering into politics and withdrawing from his office. It needs a self-conquest and more courage than entering into politics. Retiring from his office, he returns to the place where is native place everything lives and let live without moral pressure in daily life. Because there is real liberty life and immutable truths.

Magical Realism and Antonio Negri's Theory of Art: In Light of Claire Denis' Film Vendredi Soir (마술적 리얼리즘과 네그리의 예술론: 끌레어 드니의 영화 <금요일 밤>에 비추어)

  • This article examines magical realism in contemporary european film, which is considered to be one of the most popular styles in the present culture, with regards to Antonio Negri's theory of art. Magical realism is "alternative approach to reality" (Maggie Ann Bowers, Magic(al) Realism) and defined as "a fictional technique that combines fantasy with raw physical reality or social reality in a search for truth beyond that available from the surface of everyday life" (Joan Mellen, Magic Realism). The term of Magic Realism was coined in 1923 by Franz Roh, German art historian, as the concept for the post-expressionist painting in Germany. It has flourished in the Latin-American literature during the 1950s to 1980s and spread worldwide. Since 1980s magical realism is considered to be a universal artistic mode. Since 1990s magical realism is to find in the various novels, and since 2000 one encounters magical realism in the cinema very often. Antonio Negri writes about the relationship between life, imagination, art and the political in his book Art et Multitude. According to Negri, the hard life of people in the present society liberates the imagination and this creates the art as "the excess of the existence". In this process the aesthetic becomes to the political. Negri calls this space of art as "magical time and space". Claire Denis' film Vendredi Soir is analyzed as a contemporary magic realist text, which realizes Negri's concept of art: vendredi soir (friday night) in Vendredi Soir is the magical time, when the impossible becomes the possible, and paris in the public transportation strike is the magical space, where the individuals meet the other in a new situation. The film analysis associates itself with Negri's theory of art: in Vendredi Soir, it is to see, that the excess of the existence liberates imagination and creates the magic reality both in the movements of things and the human relationship. The phenomenon of magical realism in contemporary culture can be understood as the symptom of the emotional and existential pains of contemporary people in the current world. The contemporaneity of the magical realism can be read in the film as "the metaphor for contemporary thought" (Alain Badiou, Cinema). As Antonio Negri writes, art can become "the aesthetic redemption" (Negri, Art et Multitude) for us. At the same time "(t)his is where aesthetics can be transformed into the political." (Lee, "Communism and the Void")

Korean Characteristics of OkJoongHwa and J. S. Gale's Translation Practices in "Choon Yang" (『옥중화(獄中花)』의 한국적 고유성과 게일의 번역 실천 - J. S. Gale, "Choon Yang"(The Korea Magazine 1917.9~1918.8)의 번역용례를 중심으로)

  • The objective of this paper is to investigate translated individual words in J. S. Gale's "Choon Yang" in comparison with its original OkJoongHwa("獄中花") while referring to early modern bilingual dictionaries and missionaries' ethnography. Gale faced a lot of translation difficulties because the source text had a very different cultural system from the object text. OkJoongHwa was a Korean pansori novel which meant it included many Korean characteristics. However, Gale considered its Korean characteristics were deeply connected with Chinese classics. Even famous people and place names cited from the Chinese classics in OkJoongHwa represented the Korean thinking. Gale tried to faithfully translate the source text as much as possible whether the words were Chinese or Korean. In this paper, we deal with mostly various translation aspects of the Chinese-letter words in OkJoongHwa. Gale's first method to translate words made of Chinese Character is transliteration, the examples of which are the name of Chinese famous people and places, and Chinese poems. The second method is to parallel transliteration and English interpretation equivalent to the Chinese Character. The examples are the names of main characters like "Spring Fragrance or Choonyang," "Mongyong, or Dream-Dragon" and in his translation of word play in Osa (Commissioner), or Kamsa (Governor), kaiksa (a dead beggar). The third is literal translation of Chinese idiomatic phrases as Gale translated 侵魚落雁 into "She'd make the fishes to sink and the wild-geese to drop from the sky." The fourth is a little free translation of the title of public office, the various names of Korean yamen servants and the unique Korean clothing and ornaments. We expect Gale's many translation difficulties as we can see the translated long list of yamen clerks and Korean clothing and ornaments. After our investigation of his translation practices in "Choon Yang" we conclude that he tried to translate its literary language very faithfully though he could not avoid inevitable loss caused by the cultural difference involved in two languages. Gale's "Choon Yang" contributed to introducing the uniqueness of the classical Korean novel and Korean culture to the world more than any other English translation works of that time through his faithful translation.
