생체 유리와 소다 유리침투에 따른 알루미나 세라믹의 굴곡 강도 및 PBS에서의 표면 생성물 연구 (Bending strength of alumina coated with bioglass and soda lime glass and the precipitation on the surface of coated alumina in PBS)

  • Titanium and its alloys are widely used as dental implants materials because of their excellent mechanical properties. However, the alumina and zirconia ceramics are preferred to use as the substitute of Ti implants because there is a problems in esthetics and biocompatibility in Ti implant. The the glass infiltrated alumina ceramics are studied to increase the toughness and biocompatibility. The 45S5 and soda-lime glass powder was mixed with ethanol at ratio of 1:1 and brushed on the surface of alumina. Then it was heat treated in the electric furnace at $1400^{\circ}C$ from 30 min. to 5 hours. The glass powder was controlled from 200 to $350{\mu}m$ using ball milling. After heat treatment, the glass infiltrated specimen was tested in universal testing machine to measure the bending strength. The surface microstructure of each specimen was observed with SEM. The biocompatibility of 45S5 and soda-lime glass coated alumina was investigated using PBS at $36.5^{\circ}C$ incubator. The specimen was immersed in PBS for 3, 5, 7, 10 days. After that, the surface morphology was investigated with SEM. As the results of experiment, the 45S5 bioglass infiltrated alumina show the increase of bending strength according to the increasing of heat treatment time from 30 min. to 5 hours at $1400^{\circ}C$ Finally the 1370N bending strength of alumina increased to 1958N at 5 hours heat treatment, which shows 1.4 times higher. In contrast to this, the soda lime glass infiltrated alumina ceramics shows the convex curve according to heat treatment time. Thus it shows maximum bending strength of 1820N at 1 hour heat treatment of $1400^{\circ}C$ It gives 1.3 times higher. However, the bending strength of soda lime glass infiltrated alumina is decreasing with increasing heat treatment time after 1 hour. The precipitation on the surface of 45S5 glass infiltrated alumina was revealed as a sodium phosphate ($Na_{6}P_{6}O_{24}6H_{2}O$) and the amount of precipitation is increasing with increasing of immersion time in PBS. In contrast to this, there is no precipitation are observed on the surface of soda lime glass infiltrated alumina. This implies that 45S5 glass infiltrated alumina brings more biocompatible when it is implanted in human body.

  • 본 실험에서는 광Link로 응용될 Core Glass와 Clad Glass 및 Clad용 Polymer의 조성을 개발하고, Core용 Glass 와 Clad용 Glass의 match 및 Core Glass와 Clad용 Polymer의 효과적으로 접합 성형하여 반도체제조 설비내의 모든 Data 송ㆍ수신 Link를 Optical Fiber로 대체하여 기존 전선케이블이 전자기장의 영향으로 인한 Noise 와 Data 송ㆍ수신 오류를 일으키는 것을 방지하고자 한다. 따라서, 이에 대한 연구로 우선 유리를 사용한 기초 실험을 실시하였다. 실험 과정에 있어서는 Batch 실험과 용해 실험 및 물성 측정을 통하여 최적 조건의 유리를 선정하였다. 제조된 모유리를 사용하여 유리의 열적, 기계적 성질을 측정하였다. 또한 Glass core/Glass clad 파이버를 제조하여 광학적성질, 기계적성질, 구조적 특성을 평가하였다.

Using Physical Properties of Molten Glass to Estimate Glass Composition

  • A vitrification process is under development in KEPRI for the treatment of low-and medium-level radioactive waste. Although the project is for developing and building Vitrification Pilot Plant in Korea, one of KEPRI's concerns is the quality control of the vitrified glass. This paper discusses a methodology for the estimation of glass composition by on-line measurement of molten glass properties, which could be applied to the plant for real-time quality control of the glass product. By remotely measuring viscosity and density of the molten glass, the glass characteristics such as composition can be estimated and eventually controlled. For this purpose, using the database of glass composition vs. physical properties in isothermal three-component system of SiO$_2$-Na$_2$O-B$_2$O$_3$, a software TERNARY has been developed which determines the glass composition by using two known physical properties(e.g. density and viscosity).

  • 최근들어 유리병 재활용에 대한 관심이 고조되고 있다. 이것은 자원의 절약과 쓰레기 감량화의 관점에서 볼때 유리병 재활용의 중요성이 점점 더 크게 부각되고 있기 때문이라 생각된다. 본 논문에서는 국내 유리병 회수 재활용 체계의 현황과 문제점을 분석해 보고 외국의 재활용 현황을 요약하였다. 또한 시민들의 의식 조사에 기초하여 유리병의 재활용 증진을 위한 법적, 제도적 개선방안을 제시하였다.

  • Although bulk metallic glasses have many outstanding aspects in their chemical, mechanical or functional properties, some critical problems still hinder their wide application. The most important one is the brittle nature of them, which is the serious problem to structural application. So, to use viscous flow is now the only competent way to form bulk metallic glass. In this study, we investigated the basic nature of viscous flow of Zr-base bulk metallic glass, vitrelloy 1, in terms of process variables. The results were used to design the thermo-mechanical process composed of heating, holding, pressing, and cooling, which have unique influence on the glass transition and crystallization behavior. We adopted small load scale and dies with nano/micro patterns on them. The results were evaluated using several analytical methods.

  • Recently FPD(Flat Panel Display) is used in various field to display enormous information. So cutting technique of flat panel display is needed for producing variety display merchandises. In present, cutting methods of flat panel glass includes breaking process. But this process occurs many glass particles. This glass particles are directly related badness of merchandise and falling productivity. In this paper, to cut front substrate glass of LCD and to get optimized cutting condition are tried fur eliminating breaking process with developed glass cutting machine using a Piezoelectric ceramics actuator. It is known that the vibration of Piezoelectric Ceramic have effect in crack proceeding through the analysis of fracture section.

Cavity-dumping형 Nd:glass laser의 제작 및 특성 조사 (Investigation on the characteristics of a cavity-dumped Nd:glass laser)

  • 이득 선폭이 넓고 가공이 쉬원 고출력 제이저의 증폭 이득 매질로 유리한 Nd:glass 이득 매질의 소신호 이득 계수를 측정하고 이 Nd:glass를 이용하여 제작한 cavity-dumping형 레이저의 출력 특성을 조사하였다. 소신호 이득 계수를 측정하기 위해 Nd:glass, Pockels cell, 편광분할기 등을 포함하는 공진기를 구성하였으며, 측정된 소신호 이극 계수는 전기 입력 에너지가 100J일 때 $0.088 cm_{-1}$ 공진기의 왕복 내부 손실은 56%였다. Cavity-dumping형 레이저 공진기는 곡률반경이 2m인 두개의 전반사경과 Nd:glass, Pickels cell, 편광분할기, $\lambda/4$ plate 등으로 구성되었으며 제작된 레이저의 출력 에너지는 전기 입력 에너지가 140J일 때, 최대 0.85J이었고 출력 레이저 펄스폭은 8ns였다.
