The switch for a maglev vehicle should be designed such that the vehicle safely changes its track without touching the guiderail. In particular, a medium-to-low-speed EMS -type maglev train relies heavily on a U-type electromagnet where it generates levitation force and guidance force simultaneously. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the safety of the vehicle whenever it passes the switch, as it lacks active control of the guidance force. Furthermore, when the vehicle passes a segmented switch, which is a group of curves made up of connected lines with a small radius of curvature, it may come into mechanical contact with the guiderail owing to the excessive lateral displacement of the electromagnet. The goal of this study is to analyze the influence of a segmented switch on the safety of major design-related variables for achieving improved running safety. We propose a three-dimensional multibody dynamics model composed of two cars with one body. Using the proposed model, we perform a simulation of the lateral air gap, which is one of the measurements of the running safety of the vehicle when it passes the switch. The analyzed design variables are the length between short span girder, the articulation angle, the length between two centers of a fixed girder at its ends, and the number of girders. On the basis of the effects of the considered design variables, we establish an optimized design of a switch with improved safety.
The effects of Physical exercise, gymnastics and sports on the cardiopulmonary function were studied in the middle and high school toys. The subjects were divided into 4 groups; non-training group and training group in both middle school and high school boys. In the above groups, pulmonary function studies were performed, and blood pressure and the heart rate were also checked to evaluate physical fitness during and immediately after running exercise on the tread-mill, with the speed of 5 MPH and elevation of 9% and 11.25%. The types of sports in the training group were base ball, body building, Taekwondo (Korean style boxing) and hand ball. The results obtained were as followings: 1) In the training group, cardiopulmonary function showed some tendency of the increase comparing to the non-training group. 2) The increase in cardiopulmonary function was observed according to the age became older, but the clear changes on cardiopulmonary function was not observed as the difference of the group between the training and the non-training. 3) The expiratory volume was decreased as the increase of age except 17 years of age for the value of the per kg body weight. 4) In the non-training group, the mean value of oxygen consumption under maximum work load was increased, while those in the training group was decreased. But it may be noted that oxygen consumption for the expiratory volume was increased in the training group, and that the oxygen cost in the training group was .higher than that of the non-training group. 5) The pulse pressure of the high school group during and immediately after running exercise was observed in the higher value comparing with that of the middle school group It was suggested that the changes of the pulse pressure was owing to the method of determination and that to the decrease of diastolic pressure caused by the decrease of peripheral vascular resistance up to critical closing pressure. 6) Any differences of the changes in the heart rate between the training group and non-training group was not observed during and immediately after running exercise. 7) The relative value of the expiratory volume to the heart rate was decreased in the elder age group.
This works studied to compare gas analyzer with accelerometer and the estimation of energy expenditure based on different attaching position of tri-axial accelerometer such as waist and top of the foot Based on the fact that oxygen intake increases more radically linearly during walking more than 8.0km/hr. 9 male subjects performed walking and running on the treadmill with speed of $1.5{\sim}8.5km$/hr and $4.5{\sim}13.0km$/hr, respectively. Commercially available Nike + iPod Sports kit was used to compare energy expenditure with sensor module attached to their foot. Actual energy expenditure was determined by a continuous direct gas analyzer and two multiple regression equations of walking and running mode for different attaching position were developed. Results showed that estimation accuracy of energy expenditure using waist mounted accelerometer was higher than that of the top of the foot and Nike + iPod Sports kit. Results of energy expenditure based on waist and top of the foot showed that the crossover state of energy expenditure occurred at 7.5km/hr. But Nike + iPod Sports kit could not find intersection of energy expenditure in all nine subjects. Therefore the sensor module attached to the waist and separate multi regression equation by walking and running mode was the best to estimate more accurate prediction.

The raise of the acceleration can be one of possible methods to increase the scheduled speed of the metropolitan railway system. It is possible to raise the acceleration to the some point by increasing the traction power of the motor. However, there is a limit of the acceleration because the traction power over some level related to the adhesion causes a slip, which prevents from accomplishing the target acceleration. The running resistance is also an important factor to consider. Both the adhesion and the running resistance as well as the traction power vary according to the velocity. Therefore, the standardization of the acceleration needs the analysis of these factors as a function of velocity. In this study, we focus on the advanced urban transit unit(AUTS) for the standardization. We derive a novel equation of the adhesion suitable for the AUTS by investigation of the traction and adhesion equation as well as the experiment data. And finally we propose the standard of the acceleration based on this analysis.

This paper deals with the programs and algorithms that generate the full data set that satisfy the basic combinatorial requirement of combination, permutation, partial permutation or shortly r-permutation, which are used in the application of the total data testing or the simulation input. We search the programs able to meet the rules which is permutations and combinations, r-permutations, select the fastest program by field. With further study, we developed a new program reducing the time required to processing. Our research performs the following pre-study. Firstly, hundreds of algorithms and programs in the internet are collected and corrected to be executable. Secondly, we measure running time for all completed programs and select a few fast ones. Thirdly, the fast programs are analyzed in depth and its pseudo-code programs are provided. We succeeded in developing two programs that run faster. Firstly, the combination program can save the running time by removing recursive function and the r-permutation program become faster by combining the best combination program and the best permutation program. According to our performance test, the former and later program enhance the running speed by 22% to 34% and 62% to 226% respectively compared with the fastest collected program. The programs suggested in this study could apply to a particular cases easily based on Pseudo-code., Predicts the execution time spent on data processing, determine the validity of the processing, and also generates total data with minimum access programming.

Vibration condition monitoring of low-speed rotational slewing bearings is essential ever since it became necessary for a proper maintenance schedule that replaces the slewing bearings installed in massive machinery in the steel industry, among other applications. So far, acoustic emission(AE) is still the primary technique used for dealing with low-speed bearing cases. Few studies employed vibration analysis because the signal generated as a result of the impact between the rolling element and the natural defect spots at low rotational speeds is generally weak and sometimes buried in noise and other interference frequencies. In order to increase the impact energy, some researchers generate artificial defects with a predetermined length, width, and depth of crack on the inner or outer race surfaces. Consequently, the fault frequency of a particular fault is easy to identify. This paper presents the applications of empirical mode decomposition(EMD) and ensemble empirical mode decomposition(EEMD) for measuring vibration signals slewing bearings running at a low rotational speed of 15 rpm. The natural vibration damage data used in this paper are obtained from a Korean industrial company. In this study, EEMD is used to support and clarify the results of the fast Fourier transform(FFT) in identifying bearing fault frequencies.

The key characteristics of two-lane-and-two-way traffic flow are platoon and overtaking caused by low-speed vehicle such as truck. In order to develop two-way traffic flow model comprised of CF(car-following) and overtaking model, it is essential to develop a car-following model which is suitable to two-way traffic flow. Short distance between vehicles is caused when a high-speed vehicle tailgates and overtakes foregoing low-speed vehicle on two-way road system. And a vehicle following low-speed vehicle decides to overtake the front low-speed vehicle using suitable space within the headway distribution of opposite traffic flow. For this reason, a two-way CF model should describes not only running within short gap but also headway distribution. Additionally considering domestic two-way-road size, there is a on-going need for large-network simulation, but there are few studies for two-way CF model. In this paper, a two-way CA model is developed, which explains two-way CF behavior more realistic and can be applied for large road network. The experimental results show that the developed model mimics stop-and-go phenomenon, one of features of congested traffic flow, and efficiently generates the distribution of headway. When the CF model is integrated with overtaking model, it is, therefore, expected that two-way traffic flow can be explained more realistically than before.
With the hubbing strategy, construction of "Incheon Airport Railroad(AREX)" was proceeded to expand the accessibility at the level of airports in rivalry like Kansai and Chek Lap Kok. At the present 1st phase which routes from Incheon Airport to Kimpo Airport is opened March 2007. 2nd phase which is planned from Kimpo Airport to Seoul station will be opened at the end of October 2010. But the accessibilty to AREX is delinquent because it is connected only in Seoul station and the maximum operation speed is 110km/h which downgrade the time competitiveness with airport limousine. In addition, transfering of user is necessary to access to AREX from Kyungbu KTX. With these reasons, travel demand in 1st phase section is low(7%). According to reestimation of travel demand, demand analysis result compared with convention condition is insufficient, so required annual average government grant-in-aid amounts to 200 billions won, and it is right time to develop the method for revitalization of Incheon airport railroad. In this paper, facilities plan and operating plan to make new travel demand by speed-up which is able through substitution train now running with high speed train(EMU, 180km/h) and direct connection of KTX, will be suggested. This will contribute to offering high speed railroad service to customers and the reduction of government grant-in-aid by way of demand expansion.

On conventional railway lines, trains with different speeds are operated. Therefore, trains moving on curved sections with cants must accept various ranges of balanced cants, cant deficiency, and cant excess, which is essential for the comfort and safety of train operation. In this study, the correlation between the curve radius, cant, and train speed on a track was analyzed to check the cant range that satisfies the criteria of train types, operation speed, cant deficiency, and cant excess. Also, the range of setting the cant by the curve radius and balanced cant were calculated by a regression analysis of train speed according to the frequency of operation in the case of mixed trains. The results could make it possible to improve the speed of the operation route, reduce the loss of ride quality, reduce the risk of derailing caused by cant deficiency, and minimize the load deflection by excess cant. This will ensure the safety of trains running on curves and improve the efficiency of track maintenance.
A simplified calculation method of natural vibration characteristics of high-speed railway multi-span bridge-longitudinal ballastless track system is proposed. The rail, track slab, base slab, main beam, bearing, pier, cap and pile foundation are taken into account, and the multi-span longitudinal ballastless track-beam-bearing-pier-cap-pile foundation integrated model (MBTIM) is established. The energy equation of each component of the MBTIM based on Timoshenko beam theory is constructed. Using the improved Fourier series, and the Rayleigh-Ritz method and Hamilton principle are combined to obtain the extremum of the total energy function. The simplified calculation formula of the natural vibration frequency of the MBTIM under the influence of vertical and longitudinal vibration is derived and verified by numerical methods. The influence law of the natural vibration frequency of the MBTIM is analyzed considering and not considering the participation of each component of the MBTIM, the damage of the track interlayer component and the stiffness change of each layer component. The results show that the error between the calculation results of the formula and the numerical method in this paper is less than 3%, which verifies the correctness of the method in this paper. The high-order frequency of the MBTIM is significantly affected considering the track, bridge pier, pile soil and pile cap, while considering the influence of pile cap on the low-order and high-order frequency of the MBTIM is large. The influence of component damage such as void beneath slab, mortar debonding and fastener failure on each order frequency of the MBTIM is basically the same, and the influence of component damage less than 10m on the first fourteen order frequency of the MBTIM is small. The bending stiffness of track slab and rail has no obvious influence on the natural frequency of the MBTIM, and the bending stiffness of main beam has influence on the natural frequency of the MBTIM. The bending stiffness of pier and base slab only has obvious influence on the high-order frequency of the MBTIM. The natural vibration characteristics of the MBTIM play an important guiding role in the safety analysis of high-speed train running, the damage detection of track-bridge structure and the seismic design of railway bridge.
