  • In this paper, an optimal method for determining design parameters of a Switched Reluctance Motor is researched. The dominant design parameters are stator and rotor pole arc and switching on and off angle. The parameters affecting performance are examined and selected using evolutionary computations and commercial CAD program. The simulated design method is compared with conventional procedure.

  • A shorted-turn test was performed at the Sininchon combined cycle power plant on gas turbine generators. The test was conducted using a permanent flux probe and on-line diagnosis system. The flux probe installed in the generator air gap senses the field winding slot leakage flux and produces a voltage proportional to the rate of change of the flux. This pattern of flux variation is a signature unique to each field winding. We have also applied a voltage waveform analysis technique that can identify the pole location, slot number and number of shorted-turn with each slot.

  • In all sorts of primary factor which produce torque ripple of d.c brushless motor cogging torque which is generated from relation between permanent magnet rotor and salient pole cannot controled by external control system. So in this paper cogging torque is analysed by simple method in which slot fuctuion is introduced. And for reducing counterplan of cogging torque d.c brushless motor which plot auxiliary slot by inequality interval is proposed. Thus the quantitative torque characteristics of new motor which designed by this method is analysed by F.E.M and validity of this new design is proved.

The flux probe installed in the generator air gap, senses the field winding slot leakage flux and produces a voltage proportional to the rate of change of the flux.   • The squirrel case induction motor has widely used in the driving of the blowers but it is low efficiency and hard to control. So, the damper is used for the control of a flow and it cause to low the driving efficiency. Our laboratory has proposed the single-phase SRM(switched reluctance motor) for driving blowers. It has salient pole structure and can be reduced a number of semiconductors than three-phase SRM. But it can not be starting by itself and has heavier torque ripple than three-phase SRM. For self-starting the single-phase SRM is required the starting device which place the rotor at the rising inductance slope. On this paper, the electromagnet starting device is designed to generate the starting torque and to fix the rotating direction of the single-phase SRM which is fabricaed to use a blower.

  • Based on the requirement of high power and efficiency in automobile systems, this paper describes an investigation for the optimum design of a permanent magnet reluctance motor(PRM), and then the characteristics of this kind of motor is compared with that of a interior permanent magnet(IPM) motor. The IPM of 4-pole with 6-slot is redesigned into a PRM, which has the same stator and different rotor structure with IPM. Through finite element analysis(FEA) and equivalent circuit method, the PRM has higher salient ratio, higher efficiency at high speed, and lower iron loss compared with IPM.

  • This paper deals with an approach for the initial design of a permanent magnet motor for turrets with large diameters. The proposed design techniques are introduced as three stages. The first is the selection of a pole-slot combination, the second is the selection of the rotor topology, and the last is choosing the outermost dimensions. In every stage, a useful technique is described with considerations for effective fabrication and motor performance, and magnetic field computation is performed using the finite element method.

  • This paper deals with the characteristic analysis of a brushless permanent magnet d.c. motor. The rotor has ring-type permanent magnet magnetized by a capacitor discharge magnetizer with multi-pole fixture. Torque and current characteristics are analyzed by the time-stepped finite element method. And then the results are compared with experimental values.

Sinusoidal Back-EMF of Vernier Permanent Magnet Machines

  • Sinusoidal back-EMF waveform of vernier Permanent Magnet (PM) machines is analyzed in this paper. An analytical expression of Electromotive Force (EMF) of electric machines including vernier machines is developed to analyze EMF harmonics, and the effect of vernier PM machine pole ratio, the ratio of number of rotor poles to stator poles, on the EMF waveform. Moreover, this paper represents several Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models to verify the analysis based on the proposed expression, and the effect of tooth width ratio, which is the ratio of tooth width to tooth pitch, on back-EMF of vernier PM machines, and optimal tooth width ratio is obtained and verified by FEA. Finally, this paper makes comparisons between EMF waveform of vernier PM machines and that of traditional PM machines from the point of view of analytical EMF expression.

  • Generally, the structure without the stator core Axial Field Permanent Magnet (AFPM) generator was simple and there was nearly no cogging toque. And because it had the wide driving rate area, it had been being mainly used in the small wind power generation system. However, AFPM generator with non-slotted stator can't generate high voltage at low wind speed due to long air-gap. It is the reason of output efficiency drop. Therefore, in this paper, the AFPM synchronous generator with internal rotor and dual slotted stators for the small wind turbine is studied, and deal with a cogging torque minimization through the determination of optimum pole-arc ratio.
