Vibration Analysis of a Rolling Piston Type Rotary Compressor (구름 피스톤 이용 회전식 압축기 진동 해석 연구)

  • This paper is concerned with a roiling piston type rotary compressor for air conditioning use. Vibration of the compressor is analyzed numerically and experimentally. Multibody dynamic analysis methods to predict the vibration is given. The compressor is modeled as a system composed of bodies, joints, and force elements. Experimental results are also shown to be compared with simulation results. A sensitivity study using different variables that affect the compressor vibration is also carried out. It is found that the mass of weight balancer plays an important role in acceleration.

  • Rotary kiln in cement work has been evaluated for a wide variety of organic wastes such as wood, used tyres, plastic wastes and automobile shredder residue (ASR). However the presence of chlorine hampers the use of ASR as fuel in rotary kiln. Therefore, the behavior characteristics of chlorine components in rotary kiln should be considered to develop an effective method for ASR treatment to recovery energy resources. The aim of this paper is to present the chlorine control system applied to a cement manufacturing process for ASR use as an alternative fuel. In this work, the simulation of bypass unit and cyclones for chlorine control in rotary kiln has been studied and compared with the operation results of field test.

Control of a Rotary Inverted Pendulum System Using Brain Emotional Learning Based Intelligent Controller (BELBIC을 이용한 Rotary Inverted Pendulum 제어)

  • This study performs erection of a pendulum hanging at a free end of an arm by rotating the arm to the upright position. A mathematical model of a rotary inverted pendulum system (RIPS) is derived. A brain emotional learning based intelligent controller (BELBIC) is designed and used as a controller for swinging up and balancing the pendulum of the RIPS. In simulations performed in the study, a pendulum is initially inclined at $45^{\circ}$ with respect to the upright position. A simulation is also performed for evaluating the adaptiveness of the designed BELBIC in the case of system variation. In addition, a simulation is performed for evaluating the robustness of the designed BELBIC against a disturbance in the control input.

  • This paper presents a design of the fuzzy decision maker which infers set value for fuel rate in the rotary kiln of making CaO. The fuzzy decision maker proposed are divided into two groups whose functions are different each other. The one operates when production demand is constant. The other deals with the status of varying production demand. We have chosen several variables used for composing condition and action part by investigating ingerent features of the rotary kiln and skilled operators`manual method of inferring fuel rate. Membership function of each variable was designed by analyzing experimental data and field data collected during two months. On-line operation with fuzzy rules suggested was done safely like human operators' action.

  • A method of optimum design of an axial rotary sensible heat exchanger for the heat recovery of exhaust gas from the air conditioning space was developed in consideration of economics of investment cost and profit according to the installation of heat exchangers. Leakage rate of exhaust gas was calculated and the correlation for the pressure drop due to leakage of exhaust gas was proposed. Heat transfer between the matrix and exhaust and intake gas was analysed to calculate the effectiveness of heat exchanger, which was used for the optimum design of rotary heat exchanger. The results show that optimum rotational speed increases as the length of rotor increases and there exists optimum NTU which maximizes the gain of total cost according to the installation of rotary heat exchanger.

  • This paper presents the modeling approach that can predict transient behavior of rotary compressor. Mass and energy conservation laws are applied to the control volume, real gas state equation is used to obtain thermodynamic properties of refrigerant. The valve equation is solved to analyze discharge process also. Dynamic analysis of vane and roller is carried out to gain friction work. From the above modeling, the performance of rotary compressor with radial clearance and friction loss is investigated numerically. The performance of each refrigerant is estimated, respectively by applying R12, R134a, and R290/ R600a mixture.

  • A theoretical model to predict the triangular chip formation in cutting with a self-propelled rotary tool is developed. The model is based on the model of transient chip formation in two dimensional orthogonal cutting. The predicted results are found to be in good agreement with the experimental observations and suggest that transient charcteristics of work material, which depend on both cutting conditions and material properties, have the significant influence on triangulation.

  • A hear transfer model was developed to calculate the temperature distribution in the rotary kiln incinerator of municipal solid waste. The thermo-gravimetric characteristics of waste and the gas-to-waste heat transfer coefficient were determined by comparing the experimental results and model prediction. With this, heat transfer rates by existing heat transfer mechanisms were calculated to be compared each other. The effects of treatment capacity, calorific value of waste, and flow rate and temperature of combustion air on the temperature distribution in the rotary kiln incinerator were predicted by the model developed in this work.

  • A quality of a refrigeration cycle and a reliability of a compressor can be reduced if a refrigerant including excessive lubricating oil is exhausted from the compressor. Thus, the analysis of the oil behavior inside the compressor is required to prevent the problem. A tested rotary compressor with visualization windows has been manufactured in this study to investigate the oil behavior using developed visualization techniques. The oil behaviors at various operating conditions have been quantified to obtain the relationship with the outlet pressure inside the compressor. Also, the effect of the operating conditions on the quantity of the exhausted oil from the rotary compressor has been investigated using the visualization technique.

  • Electroforming is a kind of metal molding technology. After gilding on the possession object(conductivity, nonconductivity) separate it with possession object and produce a part or duplicate. This process has an excellent ability of duplicating detailed figure. To simplify the manufacturing process of a rotary screen, this study was adopted electroforming technology and produced silicon rubber mandrel. Furthermore, to indicate the optimal condition for the acquisition of high-qualified rotary screen product, the experiment was executed with pH, time, sulfamate nickel solution according to density which were the main factors to decide the condition, then compared it with the product made by original "S" company in Holland. As a result, the figure of hole was more obvious and correct. Also the open size increased by more than 2-3%.
