Reliability analysis of three-dimensional rock slope

  • Reliability analysis is generally regarded as the most appropriate method when uncertainties are taken into account in slope designs. With the help of limit analysis, probability evaluation for three-dimensional rock slope stability was conducted based upon the Mote Carlo method. The nonlinear Hoek-Brown failure criterion was employed to reflect the practical strength characteristics of rock mass. A form of stability factor is used to perform reliability analysis for rock slopes. Results show that the variation of strength uncertainties has significant influence on probability of failure for rock slopes, as well as strength constants. It is found that the relationship between probability of failure and mean safety factor is independent of the magnitudes of input parameters but relative to the variability of variables. Due to the phenomenon, curves displaying this relationship can provide guidance for designers to obtain factor of safety according to required failure probability.

암반사면에서 FRP 보강 그라우팅 공법의 적용성 평가 (Evaluation of the Applicability of FRP Grouted Reinforcing Method for Rock Slopes)

  • The instability of rock slopes caused by heavy rainfall and soil mass sliding needs the preventable and reinforcing method. The most important factor for the stability is the shear strength available in the planar part of the failure surface, which shows that a progressive failure takes place and a reinforcing of rock slope using FRP grout is effectively available. In this study, a grouting bolting interval predictions by limit equilibrium analysis and Matlab mathematical computer codes in several cases is presented for FRP reinforced rock slope. The proposed mathematical computer code can be easily applied for seeking properly FRP grout intervals prior to design and execute a reinforcement of a rock slope in practice.

  • 암반 내에 존재하는 절리의 분포 양상을 현실적으로 반영할 수 있는 개별요소해석에서, 절리의 거동을 모사하는 구성방정식의 적절한 선택이 해석결과에 미치는 영향은 매우 크다. 본 연구에서는 절리 암반 사면의 안정성 분석을 통하여 Barton-Bandits (BB)의 구성방정식과 Mohr-Coulom (MC)의 구성방정식을 비교해 보았다. 절리의 전단변위 발생에 따른 수직팽창을 허용하는 BB 모델에서는 현장의 사면 양상과 매우 유사한 결과를 도출하였으며, 그 결과 10cm 두께의 숏크리트 타설이 보강 방안으로 제안되었다. 반면, 수직팽창이 일정한 값으로 주어지는 MC모델에서는 외부 하중 조건에 대하여 둔감한 반응을 보이는 등 현장 상황을 충분히 예측하지 못하는 결과가 도출되었다.

암반비탈면의 성능기반 평가기법 연구 : 가중치 도출 및 검증 - AHP 기법과 상관분석을 중심으로 - (Study on Performance-based Evaluation Method for Rock Slopes : Deduction of Weight and Validation - Based on the AHP method and Correlation Analysis -)

  • 본 연구에서는 암반비탈면의 성능기반 평가기법을 제시하기 위해 이전 연구에서 도출된 평가 항목의 항목별 특성과 유사성 등을 검토하여 최종 평가항목을 도출하였다. 또한, 평가항목별로 상대적 중요도를 산출하여 평가항목의 가중치를 도출하였으며 암반비탈면에 대한 성능별 평가표를 제시하였다. 제시된 평가기준은 상관 분석을 이용해 검증을 실시하였다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 각 성능별로 제시된 평가표를 활용하여 실제 조사 자료를 적용한 상관분석 결과, 모든 평가항목에서 유의 확률이 0.05 이하로 나타나 통계적으로 유의미한 결과가 도출되었고, 전체적으로 높은 상관성을 보였다. 특히, '낙석', '지반변형', '불연속면 특성', '불안정 지질' 등의 항목에서 상대적 상관계수(R)가 가장 높게 나타나 본 논문에 제시된 평가표는 암반비탈면의 특성을 적절히 반영하고 있다고 판단된다.

  • 본 연구에서는 암반비탈면의 성능기반 평가방안을 개발하기 위해 델파이 기법을 이용하여 성능별 평가항목을 도출하였으며, 요인분석을 통해 최종 평가항목의 타당성을 검증하였다. 비탈면의 성능은 상태건전성, 안전성 그리고 내구성으로 분류하였다. 델파이 조사를 통해 상태건전성에는 절리방향, 배수조건 등 17개의 평가항목이 도출되었으며, 안전성에는 낙석발생 가능성, 인명피해 규모 등 4개의 평가항목이 도출되었다. 내구성에는 풍화도를 포함한 3개의 평가항목이 도출되었다. 델파이 조사를 통해 도출된 24개의 평가항목에 대해 탐색적 요인분석(EFA)을 실시한 결과, 24개의 평가항목 모두 타당성을 확보하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 탐색적 요인분석 결과에 따라 3가지의 성능유형을 내적 상태건전성, 외적 상태건전성, 위험도, 피해도 그리고 지반 및 보호/보강시설의 내구성으로 세분류하였다.

고속도로 절·성토 비탈면 녹화 공법의 적용 실태 연구 (An Analytical Study on the Revegetation Methods for Highway Slopes)

  • A variety of revegetation methods are being utilized and developed. However, most of revegetation methods used on highway slopes in Korea are based on foreign-introduced plant varieties to stabilize road surfaces and to administer afforestation for surface covering at an earlier phase. Therefore. it results in various problems. such as failure to achieve harmony with the surrounding vegetation and 10 cause re-denudation of slopes as the foreign-in introduced plant varieties wane out from 2~3 years after hydro-seeding, etc. In addition, some of the revegetation plants seeded in the earlier phase grow excessively high, thus causes successional problems, such as to inhibit the invasion of the secondary vegetation from the surrounding areas, etc. Therefore, in this study, 160 slopes located in the nationwide express highways have been investigated and analyzed in order to produce basic data for restoration of ecological environment in slopes created on a long-term basis by investigating and analyzing locational characteristics of cut and filled slopes in express highways, status of revegetation methods, characteristics of soil and plant-ecological environment. 1. Investigation on cut and embanked slopes in express highways was carried out in the total of 160 locations, which include 108 cut slopes and 52 embanked slopes. As a whole, the most frequently used revegetation method was seed spray, which was found to be used in the total of 55 target slops investigated. 2. Planting method of Wistaria floribunda applied to some of the blasted rock zones was found to cause damages as Wistaria floribunda trailed up the surrounding vegetation and the secondary invaded trees. In order to prevent this, this method must be used only in the lowest parts of large-sized slopes. Also, it will be required to administer continuous management and maintenance in the areas already planted with this plants. 3. The areas of blasted rock and ripping rock slopes were applied with coir net (net + seeding) method. However, many of these areas failed in achieving ground covering. Most areas where revegetation was in progress, they were covered with Eragrostis curvula(Weeping lovegrass) only. In areas with soil, such as decomposition of granite, where afforestation is difficult. In this slopes, soil base must be improved by hrdroseeding with thin-layer vegetation base application methods in order to achieve success in afforestation with native plants. 4. Woody species, rather than herb species, are more helpful in stabilization of slope surfaces. Therefore, it is important to be able to grow and protect woody species on highway slopes. Growth of woody vegetation is most largely influenced by soil depth. Thus, when hydro-seeding woody plants, it is recommended to apply at the upper layer of the slopes, which is capable to sufficiently provide the fundamentals required in plant growth.

지구정보시스템을 이용한 금수산일대의 암반사면 안정성 평가 (Analysis of Rock Slope Stability by Using GIS in Mt. Keumsu Area)

  • The goal of this study is to assess the spatial distribution of natural slopes and cutting slopes under would-be development. For this goal, a quantitative slope stability analysis method using GIS integrated with a computer program was developed. Through field investigations, the discontinuity parameters were collected such as orientation of discontinuity, persistence, spacing, JRC, JCS, and water depth. The distributions were interpolated from the ordinary kriging method in ARC/INFO GIS after variogram analysis. The layers showing all parameters needed for limit equilibrium analysis were constructed. The final layer using GIS works composed of 162,352 polygons, that is, unit slopes. The rock slope stability analysis program was coded by C++ language. This program can calculate geometrical vectors related to rock block failures using input orientation data and direction and dimension of strength to occur failure. Also, this can calculate shear strength of joints through empirical equations and quantitative factors of safety. This methodology was applied to the study area which is located in Jaecheon city and Danyang-gun of the northeastern Keumsu is about 135$km^2$. As a result, the study area was entirely stable but unstable, that is, factor of safety less than 1.0dominantly at the slopes near Keumsil, Daejangri, Keumsungmyun and Sojugol, Mt. Dongsan, Juksongmyun by the natural slope stability analysis. Assuming the cutting slope showing the same direction immediate, and quantitative analysis of factors of safety for a regional area could be conducted through GIS integrated with a computer program of limit equilibrium.

  • It is very difficult to determine the failure block scale in great rock slopes. Especially, postulating entire slope domain as a failure block without attention to discontinuity trace lenth makes very confuse and difficult to design rock slopes. In this paper, we estimate realistic failure block scale using joint system simulation method and introduce the application procedures on rock slope analysis. Besides, presenting how joint characteristics measurement and statistical analysis results are applicated to slope stability analysis design flow.

건설공사와 사면 안정성 (Slope stability associated with construction)

  • 잠재적인 파괴위험 가능성이 있는 270여 개소의 절개사면을 조사하여 지반구성, 사면 높이 및 경사도 현황을 파악하였다. 위험 절개사면의 84% 이상이 암반사면 혹은 혼합사면이었으며, 위험 사면의 높이는 대략 10∼30인 경우가 72% 이오T다. 또한, 일부 붕괴 사면에 대해서는 다양한 방법에 의한 역해석을 실시하여 사면파괴의 원인을 분석하였다. 사면 파괴의 주원인은 하절기의 집중호우에 의한 것이 대부분이었으나, 건설 중의 발파진동도 공사 중의 사면 안정성에 영향을 주고 있다.

  • Rock slopes along the road or railroad are affected by temperature and therefore experienced iterative freezing-thawing process between winter and early spring. The purpose of this study is to analyze the stability of rock slopes which are influenced by the deterioration due to the freezing-thawing. The analysis is the homogenization method which evaluates the strength property of discontinuous rock mass, and as a strength failure criterion, Drucker-Prager failure criterion is used. The deterioration property of real rock is obtained by a freezing-thawing laboratory test of tuff and this property of deterioration is quantitated and used as a basic data of stability analysis for rock mass. To evaluate the deterioration depth due to the freezing-thawing in situ rock slope, one dimensional heat conductivity equation is used and as the result I can find that the depth of which is affected by a temperature. After the freezing-thawing depth of model slope is determined, we analyze the pattern of rock mass stength value of rock slope model which excesses the limit of self-load.
