  • This paper proposea a new adaptive algorithm to improve the performance fo a robust adaptive control system. This adaptive algorithm counteracts the effects of disturbances and makes the time derivative of Lyapunov function non-positive, $V{\leq}0$. As a result, the output error approaches zero as $t\;\rightarrow\;\infty$ not only in the presence of bounded disturbances, but also in the ideal case. The effectiveness of this proposed algorithm is demonstrated by the stability analysis and simulation results.

  • Mareel and Bitmead proved the presence of chaotic signal in random noise by applying dead beat control theory to adaptive mechanism. In this paper robust adaptive theory is proposed. With the property of chaotic signal that has order and law, the proposed theory can enhance the control Performance by applying the recursive algorithm that uses dynamic relation which have small correlation. The performance of proposed algorithm is demonstrated with the computer simulation of position control of electric motor. In this simulation, the adaptive low is adopted to control electric motor and the Presence of chaotic signal in feedback signal is proved by using several method such as time series, fourier spectrum phase portrait method.

  • This paper describes a robust adaptive sliding mode control (RASMC) for torque ripple minimization of switched reluctance motor (SRM) using it in automotive application. The objective is to control effort smoothness while the system is under perturbations by unstructured uncertainties, unknown parameters and external disturbances. The control algorithm employs an adaptive approach to remove the need for prior knowledge within the bound of perturbations. This is suitable for tackling the chattering problem in the sliding motion of sliding mode control method. The algorithm then incorporates modifications in order to build a chattering-free modified robust adaptive sliding mode control using Lyapunov stability theory.

  • We propose a robust adaptive beamforming algorithm for triplet array sonar. The proposed beamforming algorithm obtains robustness to mismatches, left/right discrimination, and has two steps. The first is a cardioid beamformer, which supports left/right discrimination of target signals. It applies the conventional delay-and-subtract to each triplet's signal with its rotation angle and obtains multiple cardioid beams. The second is a robust adaptive beamforming to minimize nearby interferences. We regard cardioid beams as input signals of a line array and apply an adaptive beamforming algorithm to the cardioid beams. Simulations results show that the proposed algorithm provides significantly better performance than the conventional algorithms, while supporting left/right discrimination of target signals.

  • In this paper, a robust discrete model reference adaptive controller is proposed using a generalized model reference adaptive algorithm for single-input single-output discrete systems. A signal dependent time-varying dead-zone is employed in a generalized adaptive control structure. This adaptive controller is shown to assure the boundedness of the signals of the system even in the presence of bounded external disturbance.

  • This paper presents Adaptive Robust Servocontrol(ARSC) scheme, which is an explicit(or indirect) pole-assignment adaptive algorithm with the property of "robustness". It guarantees asymptotic regulation and tracking in the presence of finite parameter perturbations of the unknown plant(or process) model. The controller structure is obtained by transforming a robust control theory into an adaptive control version. This controller structure is combined with the model estimation algorithm which includes a dead-zone for bounded noise. It is proved theoretically that this combination of control and identification is globally convergent and stable. It is also shown, through a real-time simulation study, that the desired closed-loop poles of the augmented system can be assigned directly, and that the adjustment mechanism of the scheme tunes the controller parameters according to the assigned closed-loop poles.oop poles.

  • When we talk with hands-free in a car or noisy lobby, the performance of the echo canceller degrade because background noise added to echo caused by the distance from mouth to microphone is relatively long. It gives a reason for necessity of noise-robust and high convergence speed adaptive algorithm. And if acoustic echo canceller operated not perfectly, residual signal going through the echo canceller to far-end speaker remains residual echo, which degrade quality of talk. To solve this problem, post-processing needed to remove residual echo ones more. In this paper, we propose a new acoustic echo canceller, which has noise robust and high convergence speed, linked with linear predictor as a post-processor. By computer simulation, it is confirmed that the proposed algorithm shows better performance from acoustic interference cancellation (AIC) viewpoint.

  • This paper presents a robust and computationally efficient optimal design algorithm for electromagnetic devices by combining an adaptive response surface approximation of the objective function and($1+{\lambda}$) evolution strategy. In the adaptive response surface approximation, the design space is successively reduced with the iteration, and Pareto-optimal sampling points are generated by using Latin hypercube design with the Max Distance and Min Distance criteria. The proposed algorithm is applied to an analytic example and TEAM problem 22, and its robustness and computational efficiency are investigated.

  • We proposes a new fingerprint minutia matching algorithm which matches the fingerprint minutiae by using adaptive distance. In general, fingerprint is deformed by pressure and orientation when a user press his fingerprint to sensor. These nonlinear deformations change the distance between minutiae and reduce verification rate. We define the adaptive distance using ridge frequency. Adaptive distance normalizes the distance between minutiae and compensates for nonlinear deformation. Our algorithm can distinguish two different fingerprints better and is more robust. Experimental results show that the performance of the proposed algorithm is superior to using Euclidean distance.

  • This paper presents a controller design to coordinate a robot manipulator under unknown system parameters and bounded disturbance inputs. To control the motion of the manipulator, an inverse dynamics control scheme is applied. Since parameters of the robot manipulators such as mass and inertia are not perfectly known, the difference between the actual and estimated parameters works as a disturbance force. To identify the unknown parameters, an improved adaptive control algorithm is directly derived from a chosen Lyapunov's function candidate based on the Lyapunov's Second Method. A robust control algorithm is devised to counteract the bounded disturbance inputs such as contact forces and disturbing forces coming from the difference between the actual and the estimated system parameters. Numerical examples are shown using three degree-of-freedom planar arm.
