철도터널 화재 시 피난개시시간지연 및 화재성장곡선이 정량적 위험도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of evacuation delay time and fire growth curve on quantitative risk for railway tunnel fire)

  • 철도터널의 방재시설 설계 시 성능위주설계의 일환으로 화재위험을 정량적으로 평가하는 정량적 위험도평가기법이 도입되어 적용되고 있다. 그러나 각종 위험인자가 위험도에 미치는 영향을 검토하기 위한 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 피난개시 시간지연(210~873초) 및 화재성장곡선(1량 화재, 1량 화재지속, 화재중첩)이 정량적 위험도 평가에 미치는 영향을 검토하기 위해서 모델터널(연장: 15 km, 경사도 1.5%, 단면적 $57m^2$, 단굴 양방향 터널)을 대상으로 위험도 평가를 수행하였으며, 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 시나리오(270개)에 대한 분석결과, 사망자는 주로 화재연기의 이동방향과 동일한 방향으로 대피하는 경우가 발생하고 있으며, FED가 0.3을 초과한 후에는 최대 10분 이내에 최대인원이 사망하는 것으로 나타났다. 위험도가 비교적 낮은 범위에서는 피난연결통로간격 및 피난개시시간, 화재성장곡선이 위험도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나고 있으나, 위험도가 한계치에 도달하는 조건에서는 이들의 영향이 거의 없는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 본 연구에서는 피난연결통로의 간격이 1,500 m 이상인 경우에는 피난개시시간지연의 축소나 화재강도 및 화재지속시간의 감소효과가 거의 나타나지 않는 것으로 평가되었다.

  • In this study, a risk-based cleanup approach using the leaching potential was suggested for the soil vapor extraction (SVE) process. A multi-component model was adopted with local equilibrium assumption (LEA), and Raoult's law was applied to estimate the leaching potential for BTEX. Finally, a risk analysis was conducted based on the leaching pontential calculated. To complete the feasibility of this approach, more investigations and discussions will be required in future.

Developing a New Risk Assessment Methodology for Distribution System Operators Regulated by Quality Regulation Considering Reclosing Time

  • In the restructured electricity market, Performance-Based Regulation (PBR) regime has been introduced to the distribution network. To ensure the network stability, this regime is used along with quality regulations. Quality regulation impose new financial risks on distribution system operators (DSOs). The poor quality of the network will result in reduced revenues for DSOs. The mentioned financial risks depend on the quality indices of the system. Based on annual variation of these indices, the cost of quality regulation will also vary. In this paper with regard to reclosing fault in distribution network, we develop a risk-based method to assess the financial risks caused by quality regulation for DSOs. Furthermore, in order to take the stochastic behavior of the distribution network and quality indices variations into account, time-sequential Monte Carlo simulation method is used. Using the proposed risk method, the effect of taking reclosing time into account will be examined on system quality indicators and the cost of quality regulation in Swedish rural reliability test system (SRRTS). The results show that taking reclosing fault into consideration, affects the system quality indicators, particularly annual average interruption frequency index of the system (SAIFI). Moreover taking reclosing fault into consideration also affects the quality regulations cost. Therefore, considering reclosing time provides a more realistic viewpoint about the financial risks arising from quality regulation for DSOs.

Study of Personal Credit Risk Assessment Based on SVM

  • Purpose: Support vector machines (SVMs) ensemble has been proposed to improve classification performance of Credit risk recently. However, currently used fusion strategies do not evaluate the importance degree of the output of individual component SVM classifier when combining the component predictions to the final decision. To deal with this problem, this paper designs a support vector machines (SVMs) ensemble method based on fuzzy integral, which aggregates the outputs of separate component SVMs with importance of each component SVM. Research design, data, and methodology: This paper designs a personal credit risk evaluation index system including 16 indicators and discusses a support vector machines (SVMs) ensemble method based on fuzzy integral for designing a credit risk assessment system to discriminate good creditors from bad ones. This paper randomly selects 1500 sample data of personal loan customers of a commercial bank in China 2015-2020 for simulation experiments. Results: By comparing the experimental result SVMs ensemble with the single SVM, the neural network ensemble, the proposed method outperforms the single SVM, and neural network ensemble in terms of classification accuracy. Conclusions: The results show that the method proposed in this paper has higher classification accuracy than other classification methods, which confirms the feasibility and effectiveness of this method.

유무선 네트워크기반 지하철역사 공기질 제어의 위험성 평가 (Assessment of Risk in Wireless-Wired Network Based Control of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) in Subway Stations)

  • With increasing number of citizen using subway stations everyday, safety, health and comfort of passengers and occupants became an important social issue. Considering the fact that various physical variables and pollutants are related to indoor air quality (IAQ) which may cause health problem, IAQ need to be closely monitored and controlled in multiple locations in subway stations. This study is a continuation of the previous studies and delay induced in wireless-wired network is experimentally evaluated and the risk involved is assessed. In doing that, a key parameter is identified to be the network delay in different network media. Application of information-theoretic measure to assess the risk in network delay is then discussed. The idea is based on the general principles of engineering design and their applications to quantification of uncertainty in network delay. Experimental results show that more risk is involved in wireless data communication. Efficient and fast conversion of transmission data in both LonWorks/IP server and ZL converter is also noted.

  • Recently, the Korean government has been actively promoting the smart city as their strategic agenda. However, to build smart cities that are greener, the authors believe it is essential to rapidly transit conventional energy sources such as fossil fuels to renewable energy. Although there is a big potential for Offshore wind in Korea, there has not been a full-scale commercial offshore wind farm until today. Since Korea is relatively a new market compared to the EU, it can be risky for developers. The authors will introduce risk management best practices in the offshore wind industry applicable to the Korean environment. This paper will mainly introduce an offshore wind project size of 99 MW. The project is expecting a Finance Close (FC) in Q3 2022, so the project team has prepared a risk register with over 150 risks and levers throughout the project lifecycle. Overall risks include risks with Development Expenditure (DEVEX) impact, a Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) impact, and an Operating Expenditure (OPEX) impact. Based on the identified risks, a more qualitative assessment of Cost and Schedule Impact was conducted. In conclusion, a Monte Carlo simulation was performed to propose a quantitative risk assessment to evaluate a benchmark contingency of the project cost.

Developing a modified IDA-based methodology for investigation of influencing factors on seismic collapse risk of steel intermediate moment resisting frames

  • Incremental dynamic analysis (IDA) widely uses for the collapse risk assessment procedures of buildings. In this study, an IDA-based collapse risk assessment methodology is proposed, which employs a novel approach for detecting the near-collapse (NC) limit state. The proposed approach uses the modal pushover analysis results to calculate the maximum inter-story drift ratio of the structure. This value, which is used as the upper-bound limit in the IDA process, depends on the structural characteristics and global seismic responses of the structure. In this paper, steel midrise intermediate moment resisting frames (IMRFs) have selected as case studies, and their collapse risk parameters are evaluated by the suggested methodology. The composite action of a concrete floor slab and steel beams, and the interaction between the infill walls and the frames could change the collapse mechanism of the structure. In this study, the influences of the metal deck floor and autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) masonry infill walls with uniform distribution are investigated on the seismic collapse risk of the IMRFs using the proposed methodology. The results demonstrate that the suggested modified IDA method can accurately discover the near-collapse limit state. Also, this method leads to much fewer steps and lower calculation costs rather than the current IDA method. Moreover, the results show that the concrete slab and the AAC infill walls can change the collapse parameters of the structure and should be considered in the analytical modeling and the collapse assessment process of the steel mid-rise intermediate moment resisting frames.

  • 본 연구에서는 다양한 위험성 평가 방법중에서 사고의 발생 경위를 연역적으로 추론해 나가는 이상 트리 분석 방법을 이용하여 정상사상을 일으킬 수 있는 시스템 요소들의 파악으로부터 화학공장의 사고 발생 가능성을 산정하였다. Gate-by-gate 방법과 최소 컷 ? 방법을 이용하여 공장내 존재하는 잠재위험에 대하여 정성적 및 정량적 위험성 평가를 수행하였다. 정량적인 위험성 평가 단계에서는 시스템 요소의 고장률 또는 신뢰율 자료로부터 정상사상의 사고 발생 확률 및 빈도를 계산하였다 결론적으로 이상 트리 분석방법을 이용하여 시스템/공정의 사고 발생확률을 논리 방식으로 계산할 수 있었으며, 중요도 분석을 이용하여 정상 사상이 발생하는데 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 손실 경로를 확인하여 보았다.

  • 확률론적 수명예측은 파라미터들의 불확실성에 대하여 확률론적인 요소를 적용한다. 따라서 기존의 결정론적 수명해석 기법에 확률론적 기법을 적용하기 위해서는 파손확률을 이용한 위험도 평가가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 항공기 구조물의 확률론적 위험도평가를 수행하기 위하여 파손확률 추정 모델링 기법을 연구하였다. 이를 위해 파라미터들의 확률론적 불확실성을 효과적으로 반영할 수 있는 베이지안 기법을 이용하여 파손확률을 모델링하고 실험 데이터를 이용하여 검증하였다. 연구결과 베이지안 기반의 파손확률 추정 모델링은 정량적인 파손확률을 계산하고 확률론적 위험도평가를 효과적으로 수행할 수 있음을 입증하였다.

낙상예방 활동의 지속적 질 관리 프로세스 확립을 위한 위험 사정도구 평가 (Evaluation of a Fall Risk Assessment Tool to Establish Continuous Quality Improvement Process for Inpatients' Falls)

  • Purpose: The aims of study were; (1) to evaluate the validity and sensitivity of a fall-risk assessment tool, and (2) to establish continuous quality improvement (CQI) methods to monitor the effective use of the risk assessment tool. Methods: A retrospective case-control cohort design was used. Analysis was conducted for 90 admissions as cases and 3,716 as controls during the 2006 and 2007 calendar years was conducted. Fallers were identified from the hospital’s Accident Reporting System, and non-fallers were selected by randomized selection. Accuracy estimates, sensitivity analysis and logistic regression were used. Results: At the lower cutoff score of one, sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values were 82.2%, 19.3%, 0.03%, and 96.9%, respectively. The area under the ROC was 0.60 implying poor prediction. Logistic regression analysis showed that five out of nine constitutional items; age, history of falls, gait problems, and confusion were significantly associated with falls. Based on these results, we suggested a tailored falls CQI process with specific indexes. Conclusion: The fall-risk assessment tool was found to need considerable reviews for its validity and usage problems in practice. It is also necessary to develop protocols for use and identify strategies that reflect changes in patient conditions during hospital stay.
