In the design of the fuel cell charger, it is important to find out the suitable topology and to design the converter to guarantee the performance of the fuel cell as well as the battery. Most of the chargers developed so far have used step-down converters. However, since the small fuel cell stack can only generate a low voltage, it is required to use the step-up converter to charge the battery. In this paper, a modified non-isolated boost charger topology for the Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) is proposed to meet the strict ripple requirements for the battery charge and its control method by using PI controller is detailed. The feasibility of the proposed topology and its control method is then verified by the experiments.
Switched Reluctance Motors(SRM) attract much attention in motor because they are reliable and inexpensive. With advance in power electronics and high-speed processors, the performance of SRM has been enhanced greatly But because of its geometric and magnetic structure, the switched reluctance motor naturally creates torque ripples during the commutations of the currents from a supplied phase to an other one. This paper presents the torque ripple reduction using hysteresis current control among of current control techniques.

In this paper, interleaved boost power factor corrector(IBPFC) is applied as a pre-regulator in switch mode power supply. IBPFC can reduce input current ripple and effectively increase the switching frequency without increasing the switching losses, because input current is divided each 50% by two switching devices. IBPFC can be classified as three cases by duty ratio condition in continuous current mode and be carried out state space average modeling. According to the modeling, steady and transient state analysis is performed by steady elements and perturbation element. Control transfer function is derived for design of control system.

A number of techniques have been developed for estimation of speed or position in motor drives. The accuracy of these techniques is affected by the variation of motor parameters such as the stator resistance, stator inductance or torque constant. This paper is proposed a neural network based estimator for torque and stator resistance and adaptive fuzzy learning contrroller(AFLC) for speed control in IPMSM Drives. AFLC is chaged fuzzy rule base by rule base modifier for robust control of IPMSM. The neural weights are initially chosen randomly and a model reference algorithm adjusts those weights to give the optimum estimations. The neural network estimator is able to track the varying parameters quite accurately at different speeds with consistent performance. The neural network parameter estimator has been applied to slot and flux linkage torque ripple minimization of the IPMSM. The validity of the proposed parameter estimator and AFLC is confirmed by comparing to conventional algorithm.
Position information is very important when driving the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(PMSM). Generally, resolver is used to obtain exact position information. However, it generates periodic position errors due to the transformer ratio difference and excitation signal distortion. When the vector control is done with the position information that includes position error, torque ripple is periodically generated. This paper proposes the solution through analysis of above problem. Also, it’s validity is verified by simulation and experiment.
This paper compares two instantaneous reactive power definitions in DFIG wind turbine with a back-to-back three-level neutral-point clamped voltage source converter under unbalanced grid conditions. In general, conventional definition of instantaneous reactive power is obtained by taking an imaginary component of complex power. The other definition of instantaneous reactive power can be developed based on a set of voltages lagging the grid input voltages by 90 degree. A complex quantity referred as a quadrature complex power is defined. Proposed definition of instantaneous reactive power is derived by taking a real component of quadrature complex power. The characteristics of two instantaneous reactive power definitions are compared using the ripple-free stator active power control algorithm in DFIG. Instantaneous reactive power definition based on quadrature complex power has a simpler current reference calculation control block. Ripple of instantaneous active and reactive power has the same magnitude unlike in conventional definition under grid unbalance. Comparison results of two instantaneous reactive power definitions are verified through simulation.
In this paper, control algorithm for torque ripple compensation in DFIG wind power generation system is proposed. A simple PI controller is designed for the negative sequence voltage cancellation using negative sequence currents in the grid-side converter. As a result, the stator voltage contains only the positive sequence components and the torque pulsation of the generator is effectively compensated. Propose algorithm is confirmed with PSCAD simulation model.

A mechanical angle estimator is presented in this study to achieve the sensorless control of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) used in driving a reciprocating compressor. Braking the PMSM at a specific mechanical angular position is critical for the silent stoppage of the reciprocating compressor. The performance of conventional mechanical angle observers used in reciprocating compressor drives can be seriously affected according to gains of the speed controller because such observers rely on the magnitude of current ripples. A speed ripple-based mechanical angle estimator is proposed to solve this problem. Experimental results showed the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This paper poses tracking control and torque control methods to reduce torque ripple for bilateral symmetric trainers. As opposed to the conventional method, the torque control method for active joint movement is proposed. Using a step motor (PK296-03b, step angle: $1.8^{\circ}$), a simulator for a bilateral symmetric trainer is created, and the effectiveness of the proposed control method is verified through experiment results.

As a fuel cell converts the chemical energy of the fuel cell into electrical energy by electrochemical reaction, the fuel cell system is uniquely integrated technique including fuel processor, fuel cell stack, power conditioning system. The residential fuel cell-PCS(Power Conditioning System) needs to convert efficiently the DC current produced by the fuel cell into AC current using single-phase DC-AC inverter. A single-phase DC-AC inverter has naturally low frequency ripple which is twice frequency of the output current. This low frequency(120Hz) ripple reduces the efficiency of the fuel cell. This paper presents notch filter with IP voltage controller to reject specific 120Hz current ripple in single-phase inverter. The notch filter is designed that suppress just only specific frequency component and no phase delay. Finally, the proposed notch filter design method has been verified with computer simulation and experimentation.
