  • In this paper, we proposed a planar reversed triangle monopole antenna for UWB(Ultra Wideband) communication. RF-60A substrate of 0.64 mm thickness and 6.15 relative permitivity and 0.035 mm conductor of thickness and loss tangent 0.0025 is used for implementation. We have used Ansoft $HFSS^{TM}$(High Frequency Structure Simulator) to simulate the proposed antenna. The proposed antenna showed return losses about -10 dB, nearly omni-directional radiation patterns and maximum gains are over -5 dBi at the frequency band from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz for ultra wide band communication.

  • ″H″ type resonator has the advantage for the miniaturization of high-T7 superconducting (HTS) microstrip antenna in comparison with the conventional microstrip antenna such as rectangular type or circular type. In this paper we designed miniaturized HTS antennas using this "H"-type resonator and reported the characteristics of our antennas including return loss, bandwidth, radiation patterns, efficiency and so on. To fabricate the "H" type antenna, HTS YBa$_2$Cu$_3$$O_{7-x}$ (YBCO) thin films were deposited on MgO substrates using rf-magnetron sputtering. For comparison between normal conducting antennas and superconducting antennas, the gold antennas with the same dimension were also fabricated. An aperture coupling was used for impedance matching between 50 $\Omega$ feed line and HTS radiating patch. The ″H" type superconducting antenna showed the performance of 1.38 in SWR, 26 % in efficiency, and 13.8 dB in the return loss superior to the normal conducting counterpart.

  • A CPW-fed to CPS dipole antenna of triangular loop director by microstrip tapered balun is proposed for dual and wide band operations, in this paper. The proposed antenna is consisted of a CPW-fed to CPS transform, microstrip tapered balun element, CPS dipole driver and triangular loop director. A dual and wide bandwidth of the proposed dipole antenna is realized by introducing the triangular loop director and taper matching element. The operated frequency bandwidth is 1GHz (2.14~3.14 GHz) and 1.9 GHz (4.6~6.5 GHz) to return loss criterion of less than 10 dB. The measured return loss of the proposed antenna showed good results of the dual and wide band operating frequency and the radiation pattern. The proposed antenna is able to support WLAN wireless communications applications.

  • The paper presents some methods to improve characteristics of film bulk acoustic resonator (FBAR) devices. The FBAR devices were fabricated on Bragg reflectors. Thermal treatments were done by sintering and/or annealing processes. The measurement showed a considerable improvement of return loss (S$_{11}$) and quality factor (Q$_{s/p}$). These thermal techniques seem very promising for enhancing FBAR resonance performance.

  • In this paper, the input impedance of coaxial fed rectangular microstrip patch antenna located inside rectangular waveguide is calculated by using the cavity model and the mode excited in the waveguide by the patch antenna. The return loss and efficiency of the patch antennas as a function of feed position in. free space and in waveguide are calculated and compared. The maximum efficiency of the antennas in waveguide and in free space are obtained at different feed position.

  • In this paper, we emphasize the advantage of thermal annealing treatments for improvement characteristics of film bulk acoustic resonator (FBAR) devices. The FBAR devices were fabricated on multi-layer thin films, namely, Bragg reflectors. Sintering and/or annealing processes were applied in our experiments. The measurements confirm once again a considerable improvement of return loss $(S_{11})$ and quality factor $(Q_{s/p})$. these thermal treatment techniques are really promising for enhancing performance of FBAR resonators in industry fabrication of RF devices.

  • In this paper, the effects of various annealing conditions on the resonance characteristics of ZnO-based FBAR devices are compared. Several FBAR device samples were fabricated by using three different annealing methods while one sample remained non-annealed as a reference for comparison. Return loss ($S_11$) could be significantly improved by both Bragg reflector-annealing and/or post-annealing. Especially, the use of the combined annealings resulted in most desirable resonance improvement compared with the Bragg reflector-annealing or post-annealing method alone.

  • In this paper, the design for a low noise amplifier with the EM simulation is presented. The ATF36077 pHEMT device is applied to design LNA for U-NII frequency band (5 GHz ~ 6 GHz). The matching networks have been designed by the only open ended stub in order to reduce parasitic effects generated from a via structure. Through EM simulator, the simulation result shows that the linear gain (@5.5 GHz) is over 10 dB, input return loss and output return loss (@ 5.5 GHz) are a below 10 dB respectively, and the 3rd order intercept point is about 17 dBm.

  • Background: Golf is a popular sport involving overhead activity and engagement of the rotator cuff (RC). This study aimed to determine to what level golfers were able to return to golf following RC repair, the barriers to them returning to golf and factors associated with their failure to return to golf. Methods: Patients preoperatively identifying as golfers undergoing RC repair at the study centre from 2012 to 2020 were retrospectively followed up with to assess their golf-playing status, performance and frequency of play and functional and quality of life (QoL) outcomes. Results: Forty-seven golfers (40 men [85.1%] and 7 women [14.9%]) with a mean age of 56.8 years met the inclusion criteria, and 80.1% were followed up with at a mean of 27.1 months postoperatively. Twenty-nine patients (76.3%) had returned to golf with a mean handicap change of +1.0 (P=0.291). Golf frequency decreased from a mean of 1.8 rounds per week preinjury to 1.5 rounds per week postoperatively (P=0.052). The EuroQol 5-dimension 5-level (EQ-5D-5L) index and visual analog scale (EQ-VAS) score were significantly greater in those returning to golf (P=0.024 and P=0.002), although functional outcome measures were not significantly different. The primary barriers to return were ipsilateral shoulder dysfunction (78%) and loss of the habit of play (22%). Conclusions: Golfers were likely (76%) to return to golf following RC repair, including mostly to their premorbid performance level with little residual symptomatology. Return to golf was associated with a greater QoL. Persistent subjective shoulder dysfunction (78%) was the most common barrier to returning to golf.
