To design a controller based on the pole placement method, it is necessary to obtain either a target transfer function or a desired characteristic equation which results in the closed-loop response. Specially, a step response in which no overshoot occurs in highly desirable in many applications. In this paper, we present two new present two new prototypes of Type I target transfer functions whose step responses have an overshoot of less than 0.1%. One prototype is obtained by Taylor's approximation of a Gaussian function. It is, however, observed that the response delays increase with increasing order, while the rise times are nearly constant. The other prototype is a modification of the first prototype, so that their transfer function coefficients have particular values in terms of specific parameters ${\gamma}$i and $\tau$ (see section 2). The second prototype gives very useful properties in which step responses are almost the same shape, irrespective of the order. It, also, has no overshoot. Some other properties of the prototypes and an application example are given.

Angelica gigas Nakai (A. gigas) easily changes its color during storage, and appropriate thermal treatment can improve storage stability through inactivation of enzymes such as polyphenol oxidase. Therefore, this study was performed to determine quality characteristics of dried A. gigas in response to high-temperature-short-time (HTST) treatment during storage. Dried A. gigas were treated at 120-180℃ for 10 min, the samples were stored at 4℃ and 50℃ for 10 weeks, and used for the analysis of qualities. Concerning the color values, the sample treated at 120℃ was similar to the control, and the color change was large when treated above 180℃. However, color difference (ΔE⁎ab) was lower in treated samples than in control. Browning index was similar for all the samples except for the sample treated at 180℃. Functional qualities (phenolics content, antioxidant activities, and level of major components) showed a slight difference according to storage periods in all samples without control, and nodakenin content was observed in control. The results of this study showed that HTST treatment improved storage stability such as stability of colors and browning index in dried A. gigas during storage, and the appropriate treatment temperature was 120℃ in terms of stability in color and browning index.
The global financial crisis, triggered by the subprime mortgage crisis in 2007, has put the world economy into the recession with financial market turmoil. I tested whether variables were cointegrated or whether there was an equilibrium relationship. Also, Generalized impulse-response function (GIRF) and accumulation impulse-response function (AIRF) may be used to understand and characterize the time series dynamics inherent in economical systems comprised of variables that may be highly interdependent. Moreover, the IRFs enables us to simulate the response in freight to a shock in the USD/JPY exchange rate, Dow Jones industrial average index, Dow Jones volatility, Chinese Import volatility. The result on the cointegration test show that the hypothesis of no cointergrating vector could be rejected at the 5 percent level. Also, the empirical analysis of cointegrating vector reveals that the increases of USD/JPY exchange rate have negative relations with freight. The result on the impulse-response analysis indicate that freight respond negatively to volatility, and then decay very quickly. Consequently, the results highlight the potential usefulness of the multivariate time series techniques accounting to behavior of Freight.
In this study, an optimization for the emulsification process with coconut oil and sugar ester was performed in conjunction with the central composite design (CCD) model of response surface methodology (RSM). Response values for the CCD model were the viscosity of the emulsion, mean droplet size, and emulsion stability index (ESI) after 7days from the reaction. On the other hand, the emulsification time, emulsification rate, and amount of emulsifier were selected as quantitative factors. According to the result of CCD, optimum conditions for the emulsification were as follows; the emulsification time of 22.63 min, emulsification speed of 6,627.41 rpm, and amount of emulsifier of 2.29 wt.%. Under these conditions, the viscosity, mean droplet size, and emulsion stability index (ESI) after 7 days from reaction were estimated as 1,707.56 cP, 1877.05 nm, and 93.23%, respectively. The comprehensive satisfaction of the CCD was indicated as 0.8848 with an average error of $1.2{\pm}0.1%$ from the experiment compared to that of the theoretical one. Overall, a very low error rate could be obtained when the central composite model was applied to the optimized coconut oil to water emulsification.
Recently, along with the increase in chemical accidents, the number of accidents-related disasters has been increasing continuously since 2012, and when looking at the hydrogen fluoride incident which is a representative example of domestic chemical incidents, there is insufficient technology applicable to the incident site. The result was that the damage spread. Therefore, in this paper, we will adapt the water pollution accident response system to a location-based approach, and introduce a measurement method for alternative index tracking using a GPS electronic floater of a location-based index measurement method for real-time response in the water environment when a chemical incident occurs. The research target area is Gumi City, which is the area where the hydrogen fluoride incident occurred, and Gamcheon is selected, and alternative tracking using GPS electronic floater is conducted in the corresponding target area through water quality and flow measurement. As a result, it is possible to measure water quality and flow at the same time in tracker experiments using GPS electronic floater based on the research results, it is believed that using GPS electronic floater will be of great help in disaster response systems for spill incidents in the river.

This article on environmental noise qualify is concerned with the relationships between the annoyance and perception and sound quality metrics according to exposition time for traffic noise. For invested the characteristics of noise quality, we conducted to the subjective experiments of the annoyance response using the absolute 100 scaling method for the traffic noise sources. The traffic noise sources are composed to varieties exposition time from 15sec to 1200sec. As the results, the first there are decreased the perception loud level for the increase of exposition time with logarithm scale, but increased the annoyance. Second, evaluation index of annoyance is correlated to the loudness(sones), tonality and logarithm scale time with R2=0.83. Also, the composition ratio of traffic noise according to exposition time has the change of range as the logarithm scale ($30{\sim}50%$), tonality($27{\sim}37%$) and loudness($34{\sim}20%$).

In this paper, a two-phase structural health monitoring system using acceleration response signatures are presented to firstly alarm the change in structural condition and to secondly detect the changed location for full-scale concrete girder bridges. Firstly, Mihocheon Bridge which is a two-span continuous concrete girder bridge is selected as the target structure. The dynamic response features of Mihocheon Bridge are extracted by forced vibration test using bowling ball. Secondly, the damage alarming occurrence and the damage localization techniques are selected to design two-phase structural health monitoring system for Mihocheon Bridge. As the damage alarming techniques, auto-regressive model using time-domain signatures, correlation coefficient of frequency response function and frequency response ratio assurance criterion are selected. As the damage localization technique, modal strain energy-based damage index method is selected. Finally, the feasibility of two-phase structural health monitoring systems is evaluated from static loading tests using a dump truck.
Purpose - This study examines the impact of oil price volatility on economic activities in Korea. The new millennium has seen a deregulation in the crude oil market, which invited immense capital inflow into Korea. It has also raised oil price levels and volatility. Drawing on the recent theoretical literature that emphasizes the role of volatility, this paper attends to the asymmetric changes in economic growth in response to the oil price movement. This study further examines several key macroeconomic variables, such as interest rate, production, and inflation. We come to the conclusion that oil price volatility can, in some part, explain the structural changes. Research design, data, and methodology - We use two methodological frameworks in this study. First, in regards to the oil price uncertainty, we use an Exponential-GARCH (Exponential Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity: EGARCH) model estimate to elucidate the asymmetric effect of oil price shock on the conditional oil price volatility. Second, along with the estimation of the conditional volatility by the EGARCH model, we use the estimates in a VECM (Vector Error Correction Model). The study thus examines the dynamic impacts of oil price volatility on industrial production, price levels, and monetary policy responses. We also approximate the monetary policy function by the yield of monetary stabilization bond. The data collected for the study ranges from 1990: M1 to 2013: M7. In the VECM analysis section, the time span is split into two sub-periods; one from 1990 to 1999, and another from 2000 to 2013, due to the U.S. CFTC (Commodity Futures Trading Commission) deregulation on the crude oil futures that became effective in 2000. This paper intends to probe the relationship between oil price uncertainty and macroeconomic variables since the structural change in the oil market became effective. Results and Conclusions - The dynamic impulse response functions obtained from the VECM show a prolonged dampening effect of oil price volatility shock on the industrial production across all sub-periods. We also find that inflation measured by CPI rises by one standard deviation shock in response to oil price uncertainty, and lasts for the ensuing period. In addition, the impulse response functions allude that South Korea practices an expansionary monetary policy in response to oil price shocks, which stems from oil price uncertainty. Moreover, a comparison of the results of the dynamic impulse response functions from the two sub-periods suggests that the dynamic relationships have strengthened since 2000. Specifically, the results are most drastic in terms of industrial production; the impact of oil price volatility shocks has more than doubled from the year 2000 onwards. These results again indicate that the relationships between crude oil price uncertainty and Korean macroeconomic activities have been strengthened since the year2000, which resulted in a structural change in the crude oil market due to the deregulation of the crude oil futures.
Metaheuristic algorithms can work well in solving or optimizing problems, especially those that require approximation or do not have a good analytical solution. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is one of these algorithms. The response quality of these algorithms depends on the objective function and its regulated parameters. The nonlinear nature of the pressurized light-water nuclear reactor (PWR) dynamics is a significant target for PSO. The two-point kinetics model of this type of reactor is used because of fission products properties. The proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller is intended to control the power level of the PWR at a short-time transient. The absolute error (IAE), integral of square error (ISE), integral of time-absolute error (ITAE), and integral of time-square error (ITSE) objective functions have been used as performance indexes to tune the PID gains with PSO. The optimization results with each of them are evaluated with the number of function evaluations (NFE). All performance indexes achieve good results with differences in the rate of over/under-shoot or convergence rate of the cost function, in the desired time domain.
Applications involving moving objects require index structures to handle frequent updates of objects' locations efficiently. Several methods to index the current, the past and the future positions of moving objects have been proposed for the applications. Most of them are based on R-tree like index structures. Some researches have made efforts to improve update performance of R-trees that are actually focused on query performance. Even though the update performance is improved by researchers' efforts, the overhead and immaturity of concurrency control algorithms of R-trees makes us hesitate to choose them for moving objects. In this paper, we propose an update efficient indexing method that can be applicable for indexing the past, the current and the future locations. The proposed index is based on B+-Trees and Hilbert curve. We present an advanced Hilbert curve that adjusts automatically the order of Hilbert curve in subregions according to the data distribution and the number of data objects. Through empirical studies, we show that our strategy achieves higher response time and throughput.
