  • The objective of this paper is to provide service continuity based on an efficient subchannel allocation in OFDMA systems. The resource management for handover are necessary to maintain the QoS requirements of different multimedia applications because the service continuity may be defected by some delay and information loss. Therefore we propose two subchannel management schemes applied to OFDMA systems. Firstly, a superposition allocation of interference subchannels is achieved by modifying a frequency reuse scheme, using co-subchannel interference principle. Secondly for handover applications, we suggest a novel subchannel reservation scheme to adjust the number of allocated channels, depending on the different characteristics and diverse quality of mobile multimedia applications. Simulation results show that the total throughput for the proposed method is increased up to 20% at average and peak arrivals and the handover failure rate is decreased to about 25%, as compared to the conventional method.

  • Mobile Ad-hoc networks have recently attracted a lot of attention in the research community as well as in industry. Although the previous research mainly focused on various of Ad-hoc in routing, we consider, in this paper, how to efficiently support applications such as variable Goocasting basd on Ad-hoc networks. The goal of a geocasting uotocol is deliver data packets to a group of nodes that are located within a specified geocasting region. Previous research that support geocast nice in mobilie computing based on Ad-hoc have the non-optimization problem of data delivery path, overhead by frequent reconstruction of the geocast tree, and service disruption problem. In this paper, we propose the mobility pattern based geocast technique using variable service range according to the nobility of destination node and resource reservation to solve this problem. The experimental results show that our proposed mechanism has improved performance of Connection & Network Overhead than previous research.

  • ETF made the RFCs of MPLS technologies for providing the QoS of ATM or Frame Relay and the flexibility&scalability of IP on the Internet services. IETF has been expanding MPLS technologies as a common control component for supporting the various switching technologies called GMPLS. Also, IETF has standardized the signaling protocols based on such technologies, such as LDP, CR-LDP and RSVP-TE. ETRI developed the MPLS system based on ATM switch in order to provide more reliable services, differentiated services and value-added services like the VPN and traffic engineering service on the Korea Public Sector network. We are planning on deploying model services and commercial services on that network. This paper explains the basic functions of LDP, design and development of LDP on our system, and compares with LDP development and operation on other MPLS systems made by Cisco, Juniper, Nortel and Riverstone. In conclusion, this paper deduces the future services and applications by LDP through these explanation and comparison.

  • Recently as the mobile computing is burgeoning, multimedia services have become very popular. Multimedia services require large data volume and have to send the same data to several users. In order to provide efficient multimedia services that have those characteristic to mobile users, efficient multicast technique to support host mobility is required. Previous research that support multicast services in mobile computing based on Mobile IP have the non-optimization problem of data delivery path, overhead by frequent reconstruction of the multicast tree, and service disruption problem. In this paper, we propose the mobility pattern based multicast technique using variable service range according to the mobility of mobile hosts and resource reservation to solve this problems. The experimental results show that our proposed mechanism has improved performance than previous research.

  • Today, A matter of concern of home network technology increase. The standard of communication between home network devices are required. IEEE 802.1 AVB(Audio/Video Bridging) specifies transmission method for time-sensitive data between these devices using Ethernet in bridged local area networks. IEEE 802.1 AVB and IEEE 1588 PTP(Precision Time Protocol) have various message type for grandmaster selection and synchronize the devices. These messages bring on complexity protocol. We propose a method that uses Single TimeSync frame in order to the problem. Our proposal is appropriate process complexity and low transmission delay for home network by using the TimeSync frame. Furthermore, after all devices are adjusted to the single TimeSync frame, a resource reservation, a forwarding and queueing rule are needed for a time-sensitive application.

  • Network is expected to be developed into optical Internet network collected IP layer and optical layer, but GMPLS is risen at the transitional evolution stage because of the present technology level. GMPLS that MPLS is extended and generalized is able to support not only the packet switching device but also the devices which perform switching in time, wavelength, and space domain. To implement the common control plane to these various switching types, GMPLS extends the existing MPLS signaling and routing protocol. In this paper, we describe the overview of GMPLS technology, and then we will refer to the OSPF(Open Shortest Path First), which was used to exchange the status information of link, as the plan of routing extension to exchange the information of various link type, bandwidth, link protection type etc. And also, we describe the definition of new protocol, so called, LMP that is a signaling protocol for solving complex problem which manages hundreds and thousands of links between two nodes. And we will examine and analyze the plan of signaling protocol extension to apply signaling protocol RSVP-TE(Resource Reservation Protocol) for traffic engineering in MPLS to network, and the message objects and formats associated with modified RSVP.

  • This paper proposes a distributed MAC protocol called Carrier Sensing Multiple Access with Collision Resolution (CSMA/CR) considering fully-connected single hop network environments for next-generation wireless LAN with high density of stations. The proposed CSMA/CR is compatible with the conventional MAC protocols by observing the operation of CSMA/CA and is able to detect a collision promptly without RTS/CTS exchange by applying the technique of CSMA/CD to wireless environments. Moreover, once a collision is detected, the dedicated resource is allocated to the next transmission and so the collision that may occur again is resolved. We investigate some implementation issues for the practicality of CSMA/CR and compare it with the typical distributed MAC protocols. The simulation results show that the proposed CSMA/CR has a low overhead as detecting a collision without the RTS/CTS exploitation and achieves always the best throughput regardless of the number of access stations, by using the reservation-based collision resolution technique.

  • Resource reservation scheme is an effective method to guarantee QoS for handoff calls in the next generation multimedia mobile communication systems, but it causes negative impacts on blocking probability of new calls. In this paper, to optimize the tradeoff between dropping probability of handoff calls and blocking probability of new calls, relay station based handoff prioritization control algorithm is proposed. In this algorithm, the relay station participates in handoff procedure and enables mobile stations to have guaranteed prompt service after handoff by providing highly efficient data transmission. In this paper, Markov chain models of the proposed handoff prioritization schemes are developed, and dropping probability of handoff packets and blocking probability of new packets are derived. By numerical analysis, the proposed algorithm has been proved to outperform conventional handoff prioritization schemes in terms of dropping probability of handoff packets and blocking Probability of new packets.

  • The service which is required wide bandwidth is growing in these days, so building up High Speed communication system is being required. The Task Force team of IEEE 802.3ah set the EPON as a standard; next generation subscriber access network. For offering a high quality service, 10G EPON that is changed from 1Gbps uplink downlink bandwidth to 10Gbps is come up. Although Kramer had studied 10G EPON there was a QoS limitation, when load is low, End-to-End maximum delay is increased. This paper is suggesting time synch ronization method, resource reservation method, band width allocation method. We confirmed that 10EPON was able to offer quality service by the result of the OPNET.

  • In wireless communication networks, most of the prediction techniques are used for predicting the amount of resource required by user's calls for improving their demanding quality of service. However, we propose a channel allocation scheme based on predicting the resources of white spectrum holes for improving the QoS of rental user's spectrum handoff calls for cognitive radio networks in this paper. This method is supported by Wiener predictor to predict the amount of white spectrum holes of license user's free spectrum resources. We classify rental user's calls into initial calls and spectrum handoff calls, and some portion of predicted spectrum-hole resources is reserved for spectrum handoff calls' priority allocation. Simulations show that the performance of the proposed scheme outperforms in spectrum handoff call's dropping rate than an existing method without spectrum hole prediction(11% average improvement in 50% reservation).
