Second, as a result of verifying the mediating effect of self-efficacy in the relationship between human resource flexibility and organizational commitment, it was verified that self-efficacy has a partial mediating effect in the relationship between technological flexibility, behavioral flexibility, relationship flexibility, and organizational commitment. Finally, the implications of this study were presented and the future research direction was discussed.

  • This qualitative case study focused on the workers' flexibility needs. We selected eight full-time workers from one 2009 family friendly certified firm for observation and in-depth interview. The workers are categorized into three groups; male employees with housewives, double income family workers depending on extended family, and double income family workers depending on paid babysitter. The spouse's work status and informal extended familial support to child care were crucial factors to influence their work family life styles and flexibility needs. The flex time is the most desirable everyday needs for the dual working child caring parents depending on the paid help. And the female workers' concerned about the stigma effect of the institutionalized flexibility use of the inferior labors.

  • Tendencies such as the increasing spread of market globalization, new technological developments, the reduction of product life cycles and aggressive competition, are generating high levels of environmental changes and uncertainty for organizations of all types. these circumstances require rapid responses through adaptation of organizational attitudes and capabilities, which lead to innovative management approaches and organizational methods. Human resource management researchers have struggled to elaborate the underlying mechanism explaining how human resource systems relate to organizational performance after universalistic perspectives were supported by a majority of studies investigating the positive relationship between human resource management system and firm performance. To fill the void, hypotheses in this study predicted human resource flexibility that would mediate the relationship between human resource management system and firm performance. The research model among the variables in this study was as follows: These theoretical models were tested with a sample of 138 firms in Korea. The analysis of data was undertaken by using AMOS. The Summary of the verification results is follows: Firstly, most of human resource management system and human resource flexibility had positive effects on human resource performance Secondly, most of human resource management system and human resource flexibility had positive effects on firm's financial performance Thirdly, human resource flexibility had mediated the relationship between human resource management system and firm performance The results of the present research may be demonstrated that organizations or managers could achieve a high level of management practices that lead to firm performance by enabling human resource to be flexible through high performance human resource management system.

  • This study analyzes the effects of group characteristics of smart work users on intention for smart work activation(i.e., time flexibility, space flexibility, resource flexibility and ICT infrastructure). Also, this study analyzes the effects of different types of smart work depending on occupational groups, firm size and gender in local manufacturing companies. The results show that ICT infrastructure had the most significance in the early stage of smart work. On the contrary to the previous studies which focused more on time flexibility and space flexibility, this study exemplified that the resource flexibility demonstrated relatively higher significance than time flexibility and space flexibility. The results suggest the possibility of successful smart work by recognizing the change in organizational culture, specifically in face to face evaluation and vertical organizational culture to performance-based and horizontal organizational culture.

  • This study was conducted to identify key success factors of the Agricultural Cooperative Federation. We classified the divisions of regional agricultural cooperatives into high performers and low performers to investigate differences in environmental stability, resource capacity, resource flexibility, differentiation strategy, and low-cost strategies between high and low performers. Empirical analyses revealed that high performers are superior to low performers in resource capacity, resource flexibility, differentiation, and low-cost, but there was no difference in environmental stability between high performers and low performers. Internal factors including resource and strategy attributes affect business performance, but external factors such as environmental attributes do not. Moreover, resource flexibility generates the broadest gap between high performers and low performers. These results indicate that resource flexibility is the key factor leading to success of organizations with greater competitors because it enables them to overcome their disadvantageous competitive position in size and resources through complete exploitation of resources across divergent business areas owing to its flexibility. Our contribution is that we draw the key success factors of the Agricultural Cooperative Federation through an empirical approach.

  • This study investigates what effects employment flexibility have on the business performance in the computer programming, system consultancy and related services. An analysis of the effects of employment flexibility on outcomes of human resource management revealed that companies which had a higher proportion of temporary agency workers and adjusted employment more frequently had higher turnover rates. The study also showed that the higher the proportion of non-regular workers, outsourcing and the easier it was to adjust working hours, the higher the absence rate. Meanwhile, companies that made employment adjustments more often showed higher defect rates and lower customer satisfaction. It was also found that in companies with a higher proportion of outsourcing and higher possibility of employment adjustments, workers were less interested in new technologies.

  • The hypothesis that the common market equilibria for housing attributes are attained within distinctive submarkets was tested. Markets for housing attributes with greater supply flexibility, i.e., structural variables, were found to be closer to their common equilibria than markets with less supply flexibility, i.e., neighborhood and distance variables. In addition, submarkets with greater mobility were found to achieve common market equilibria for more housing attributes with greater supply flexibility, but not for housing attributes with lower degree of supply flexibility. Results suggest supply flexibility and occupier mobility are both necessary conditions for achieving common market equilibria for housing attributes.

  • Through the NFV (Network Function Virtualization), companies such as network service providers and carriers have sought to dramatically reduce CAPEX / OPEX by improving the speed of new service provisioning and flexibility of network construction through the S/W-based devices provided by NFV. One of the most important considerations for establishing an NFV network to provide dynamic services is to determine how to dynamically allocate resources (VNFs), the basic building blocks of network services, in the right place. In this paper, we analyzed the latest research trends on VNF node, link allocation, and scheduling in nodes that are required to provide arbitrary NS in NFV framework. In this paper, we also propose VNF scheduling problems that should be studied further in RA (Resource Allocation).
