Numerical Analysis of NDR characteristics in resonant tunneling diodes with AllnAs/GaInAs Structure (AlIanAs/GaInAS계 공명터널링 다이오드의 부성저항 특성에 관한 수치 해석)

  • The theoretical analysis for AlInAs/GaInAs resonant tunneling diodes (RTDs), which have shown the improved negative differential resistance (NDR) characteristics, has scarcely been made in comparison with AlGaAS/GaAs RTDs. In this paper, the static current-voltage relation of Al$_{0.48}In_{0.52}As/Ga_{0.47}In_{0.53}$As RTDs were numerically estimated by using a self-consistent method. Assuming a simplified RTD with single quantum well structure and spacer layers, the peak current density (J$_{P}$) and the peak-to-valley current ratio (PVCR) were analysed as the function of the thickness of the well, the barrier and the spacer layer, and temperature. As the results, the peak current density and the peak-to-valley current ratio indicated a reciprocal relation roughly in respect to the thicknesses of the well and the barrier, and it was theoretically predicted that it be not attainable to provide a high peak current desity (J$_{P}$) over 1${\times}10^{5}A/cm^{2}$ as well as the large peak-to-valley current ratio (PVCR) over 10 that were the the critical conditions for the practical use.

  • These days, electromagnetic radiation noise and switching losses of static converter become harmful. Many resonant inverters with radiation techniques solve their such problems. Auxiliary Resonant Commutated Pole Inverter (ARCP) was proposed. but it has two demerits. In circuit configuration. It isn't constructed by 2 in 1 IGET modules. Besides, control is complicated because of neutral point voltage control and boost current control. This paper proposes a new auxiliary resonant inverter which solved two demerits.   • Piezoelectric Transformer (PT) was emerged in device and material industry. PT has some advantages such as low profile and mechanical energy transfer with little electromagnetic interface (EMI). But, It is known that the maximum PT efficiency can be obtained when it operates near the resonant frequency of the PT. Also PT's resonant frequency moves according to the load conditions Therefore, As the operating frequency moves further from the resonant frequency, the PT efficiency decreases dramatically due to the increase of the circulating current. Output Voltage Regulation for Harmonic Compensation under Islanded Mode of Microgrid

  • This study examines a P+multi resonant-based voltage control for voltage harmonics compensation under the islanded mode of a microgrid. In islanded mode, the inverter is defined as a voltage source to supply the full local load demand without the connection to the grid. On the other hand, the output voltage waveform is distorted by the negative and zero sequence components and current harmonics due to the unbalanced and nonlinear loads. In this paper, the P+multi resonant controller is used to compensate for the voltage harmonics. The gain tuning method is assessed by the tendency analysis of the controller as the variation of gain. In addition, this study analyzes the slight voltage magnitude drop due to the practical form of the P+multi resonant and proposes a counter method to solve this problem by adding the PI-based voltage restoration method. The proposed P+multi resonant controller to compensate for the voltage harmonics is verified through the PSIM simulation and experimental results.

  • The system that follows to the resonance frequency of high frequency MOSFET inverter and varies according to the changes of load characteristics is proposed. Also we suggested a method how to select the resonant load type between series and parallel circuit for a given inverter type. It leads to the conclusion that in the case of high impedance loads, parallel resonant circuits are preferable, on the other hand, for low impedance loads, series resonant circuits are more preferable. For frequency tracking, a PLL circuit is used as main control element to detect the phase difference of current and voltage of load. The realized apparatus composed of control circuit and voltage type full-bridged MOSFET elements as main parts of inverter. A stable frequency follow-up characteristics are obtained for 1.2MHz, 1.5KW high frequency output and power is always supplied to the load with unity power factor.

  • This paper describes an induction heating system which is full-bridge parallels resonant inverter. This system consists of current-fed type inverter, and a parallels resonant circuit with a matching transformer. A parallels resonant scheme is employed, and operating range of the proposed circuit with operating frequency and load parameter is demonstrated from the result of steady state. Also, this equipments testing result introduces, good efficiency and reliability of the system. Finally, this paper experimental results are given.

  • In this paper, the 170W LLC half bridge DC-DC converter is designed for the lighting management system. The power conversion circuit consists of PFC and isolated LLC resonant converter. The topology of LLC half bridge resonant converter provides ZVS characteristic. And the stresses of voltage and current is smaller than that of the general resonant converters. So we can expect the higher efficiency. The optimal conditions for high efficiency were investigated through by experiment.

  • A LLC resonant converter with hold-up time extension technique for computer power supply is proposed. Since the proposed circuit has a current boost-up capability of resonant inductor regardless of the input voltage level and the load power condition, operating near the resonant frequency, it can provide the power to the load as the input voltage drops to half of reflected output voltage to the transformer primary. This extends the hold-up time of computer power supply and improves the system power density and conversion efficiency at nominal input voltage. The experimental results with prototype are given to confirm the validity of the proposed circuit.

  • This paper has been studied the parallel resonant inverter which controlling the constant power and tracking the load resonant frequency with PLL is possible, in order to minimize switching losses. The current-fed full-bridge type parallel resonant inverter of an induction heating system was composed of IGBT in switching device. For regulating the output power of an induction heating system, the Fuzzy controller is used. The Fuzzy controller makes the control signal for a stable power regulating control and when reference is changed, it is superior to adaptability. It has been evaluated a stable behavior for a noise with switching and a load disturbance.

  • In recent years, a cost-effective voltage-source type single-ended resonant-load inverter using MOS gate power switching devices and its related resonant inverter topologies have been commonly used for induction-heated cooking appliances because of relatively-lowered switching losses, simple circuit topology, low cost, compactness and low harmonic current in utility AC side. This paper present some comparative performance evaluations of IGBTs as sample devices in each generation and MOS controlled Thyristor(MCT) incorporated into the voltage-source type single-ended load resonant inverter for induction-heating rice cookers used for consumer power electronic applications, in which the output power can be regulated on the basis of Frequency Modulation Scheme.
