  • This paper proposed the ways for reduction of the prominent peak of the tone noise in air conditioning units. In order to find out the sources of the tone noise, the resonant frequencies and modes of the fans were investigated. Also, the effects of the ambient temperatures and material properties of the fans on the tone noise were studied. From the experiments, it was shown that the tone noise was greatly influenced by the torsional resonance of the fan and motor system and commutation frequency. In other words, the torsional resonance of the fan and motor system has not to be close to the commutation frequency (torque ripple frequency) which creates a rate of change in the angular acceleration in order to reduce the tone noise in air conditioning units.

Internal resonance and nonlinear response of an axially moving beam: two numerical techniques

  • The nonlinear resonant response of an axially moving beam is investigated in this paper via two different numerical techniques: the pseudo-arclength continuation technique and direct time integration. In particular, the response is examined for the system in the neighborhood of a three-to-one internal resonance between the first two modes as well as for the case where it is not. The equation of motion is reduced into a set of nonlinear ordinary differential equation via the Galerkin technique. This set is solved using the pseudo-arclength continuation technique and the results are confirmed through use of direct time integration. Vibration characteristics of the system are presented in the form of frequency-response curves, time histories, phase-plane diagrams, and fast Fourier transforms (FFTs).

  • This paper intends to investigate the effects of speed fluctuation caused by the cogging torque in permanent magnetic motors on the stability of the transverse vibration for a spinning disk. Based on the Kirchhoff\`s plate theory and the assumed mode methods, a set of discretized equations of motion were derived for an annular disk rotating with a harmonically varying speed. Then, a perturbation method using the multiple time scales was employed and stability boundaries were determined explicitly in terms of the magnitude and frequency of speed fluctuation, a nominal sped and the modal characteristics of the disk. It is found that parametric resonance occurs at several speed ranges and a single mode or a combination of two modes are involved to cause instability. It is also observed that unstable regions become broadened as the spinning speed increases or two modes are combined in parametric instability. As numerical simulations, stability analysis of a conventional CD-ROM drive was performed. Results of this work can e used as guidelines for motor design and operations with low vibration.

  • In recent years, many researcher have been interested in the stability of a thin beam. Among them, Pai and Nayfeh[1] had investigated the nonplanar motion of the cantilever beam under lateral base excitation and chaotic motion, but this study is associated with internal resonance, i.e. one to one resonance. Also Cusumano[2] had made an experiment on a thin beam, called Elastica, under bending loads. In this experiment, he had shown that there exists out-of-plane motion, involving the bending and the torsional mode. Pak et al.[3] verified the validity of Cusumano's experimental works theoretically and defined the existence of Non-Local Mode(NLM), which is came out due to the instability of torsional mode and the corresponding aspect of motions by using the Normal Modes. Lee[4] studied on a thin beam under bending loads and investigated the routes to chaos by using forcing amplitude as a control parameter. In this paper, we are interested in the motion of a thin beam under torsional loads. Here the form of force based on the natural forcing function is used. Consequently, it is found that small torsional loads result in instability and in case that the forcing amplitude is increasing gradually, the motion appears in the form of dynamic double potential well, finally leads to complex motion. This phenomenon is investigated through the poincare map and time response. We also check that Harmonic Balance Method(H.B.M.) is a suitable tool to calculate the bifurcated modes.

단일 스위치를 사용한 LC직렬 공진형 부스트 컨버터 (A LC Series Resonant Boost Converter Using a Single Switch)

  • 본 논문에서는 단일 스위치를 사용한 LC 직렬 공진형 부스트 컨버터를 제안하였다. 제안하는 토폴로지는 별도의 보조 스위치의 추가 없이 일반 부스트 컨버터에 수동소자만을 추가하여 스위치 턴-온, 턴-오프 시 영전압 스위칭(ZVS; Zero Voltage Switching)을 수행한다. 이 토폴로지는 LC직렬 공진에 의해 스위치 오프 타임이 결정되므로, 스위치 온 타임을 가변하여 출력전압을 조절하는 온 타임 가변형 주파수 변조 기법으로 제어된다. 전류 도통 경로에 따라 제안된 회로의 동작 모드를 구분하였고, 제안된 컨버터의 동작모드와 특성은 수학적 해석과 시뮬레이션 및 실험을 통해서 검증하였다.

  • 강력초음파 분야에 있어서, 트랜스듀서의 고정을 위한 프렌지의 위치설정은 트랜스듀서의 변환효율에 큰 영향을 주는 중요한 요소이다. 본 연구에서는 볼트 체결형 란주반 초음파 트랜스듀서의 공진모드에 따른 프렌지의 설치 위치를 결정하기 위한 실험적 방법을 제안하였다. 제안된 방법에서는 반원형 쐐기 형태의 지그를 제작하여 트랜스듀서의 측면을 따라 이동하며 지그에 일정한 압력을 가한 후 트랜스듀서의 진동특성을 분석하였다. 압력을 가하는 위치에 따른 트랜스듀서의 입력 어드미턴스의 변화를 분석하여 프렌지의 최적의 위치를 결정할 수 있었다. 이 위치들은 메이슨 등가회로를 적용하여 계산한 공진 주파수 및 전송선로 모델 해석으로부터 계산한 각 공진 모드에 대한 입자속도 분포로부터 예측한 진동 모드의 절의 위치와 좋은 대응을 보이고 있어 본 연구에서 제안된 방법의 유효성을 확인할 수 있었다.

Effect of impingement edge geometry on the acoustic resonance excitation and Strouhal numbers in a ducted shallow cavity

  • Flow-excited acoustic resonance in ducted cavities can produce high levels of acoustic pressure that may lead to severe damage. This occurs when the flow instability over the cavity mouth, which is created by the free shear layer separation at the upstream edge, is coupled with one of the acoustic modes in the accommodating enclosure. Acoustic resonance can cause high amplitude fluctuating acoustic loads in and near the cavity. Such acoustic loads could cause damage in sensitive applications such as aircraft weapon bays. Therefore, the suppression and mitigation of these resonances are very important. Much of the work done in the past focused on the fluid-dynamic oscillation mechanism or suppressing the resonance by altering the edge condition at the shear layer separation. However, the effect of the downstream edge has received much less attention. This paper considers the effect of the impingement edge geometry on the acoustic resonance excitation and Strouhal number values of the flow instabilities in a ducted shallow cavity with an aspect ratio of 1.0. Several edges, including chamfered edges with different angles and round edges with different radii, were investigated. In addition, some downstream edges that have never been studied before, such as saw-tooth edges, spanwise cylinders, higher and lower steps, and straight and delta spoilers, are investigated. The experiments are conducted in an open-loop wind tunnel that can generate flows with a Mach number up to 0.45. The study shows that when some edge geometries, such as lower steps, chamfered, round, and saw-tooth edges, are installed downstream, they demonstrate a promising reduction in the acoustic resonance. On the other hand, higher steps and straight spoilers resulted in intensifying the acoustic resonance. In addition, the effect of edge geometry on the Strouhal number is presented.

CoFeB 박막 재료에서 강자성 및 스핀파 공명 신호 분석 (Analysis of Ferromagnetic and Spin Wave Resonance Signals in CoFeB Thin Films)

  • 본 연구에서는 두께가 다른 비정질 CoFeB 박막 재료에서 측정한 강자성 및 스핀파 공명 신호를 비교 분석하였다. 강자성 공명 자기장($H_{FMR}$)은 두께에 거의 무관하게 일정한 값을 갖는 반면 스핀파 공명 자기장($H_{SWR}$)은 CoFeB의 두께에 의존하는 스핀파 모드들에 대한 이론 값과 일치하였다. 수평면에서 자기장 각도에 따른 $H_{FMR}$ 측정 결과로부터 CoFeB 재료의 일축이방성 자기장은 37 Oe였다. 한편 $H_{SWR}$$H_{FMR}$과 동일한 각도 의존성을 보였으며, 스핀파 공명 신호의 크기는 강자성 공명 신호에 비하여 약 5.7배 증가하였다. 이러한 증가는 비정질 재료의 작은 감쇠 상수에 의한 저감이 작은 스핀파의 진행 특성 및 균일한 자화에 의한 이상적인 정상파 형성 조건에 기인함을 알 수 있었다.

PZT 세라믹스에 있어서 길이진동모드의 경시변화 (Aging of Length-Extensional Vibration Modes in PZT Ceramics)

  • Aging stabilities of the operating frequency of piezoelectric devices such as filter, oscillator and discriminator are very important. In this study it was studied aging stabilities of the length-extensional vibration mode of Pb(Zr$\^$y/O$_3$+ x[wt%]Cr$_2$Co$_3$ ceramics. PZT ceramics in morphotropic phase boundary have higher aging rates of k$\_$31/ and resonance frequency than those in tetragonal phase or rhombohedral phase. Thermal aging moves the composition with maximum aging rate to Zr-rich side in Cr$_2$O$_3$ not added PZT system. In the PZT system, aging rates of k$\_$31/ and resonance frequency for first 30 days are bigger than those for the following 90 days. Thermal aging decrease those for first 30 days. Aging rate of resonance frequency of the ceramics with x=0.1, y=0.53 and x=0.3, y=0.53 increased by thermal aging.

  • 본 논문에서는 최근 요구되는 이동통신 서비스의 다양한 주파수 대역 요구를 충족시키기 위해 3중 모드 주파수 가변 필터를 제안한다. 이 필터는 가변 커패시터를 활용하여 공진 주파수를 조절할 수 있는 튜닝 가능한 구조를 가지고 있다. 품질 계수를 향상하기 위해 SIW (Substrate Integrated Waveguide) 구조를 도입하였고, 중앙에 위치한 원형 홀을 통해 세 개의 공진 모드를 유발하는 구조를 구현하였다. 가변 커패시터에 의해 변화에 따른 전계분포와 공진 주파수의 변화를 EM 전파해석툴인 HFSS를 사용하여 시뮬레이션하였으며, 3중 모드의 전계분포와 공진 주파수의 변화를 확인하였다.
