There are being a lot of studies for achievement of high speed Dehydration, high-strength and Lightweight of washing machine in the latest washing machine business. It is essential that strength of mechanical press-Joining (MPJ) for spin drum is improved to attain that target. MPJ of spin drum is composed of seaming and caulking process. Because Seaming process of MPJ has various design factors such as thickness, bending radius, seaming width, caulking press width and the dynamic factor such as multistage plastic working, elastic recovery, residual stress, the optimum conditions can't be easily determined. Using a design of experiment (DOE) based on the FEM (Finite Element Method), which has several advantages such as less computing, high accuracy performance and usefulness, this study was performed investigating the interaction effect between the various design factor as well as the main effect of the each design factor during drum MPJ and proposed optimum condition using center composition method among response surface derived from regression equation of simulation-based DOE.

The absence of an important portion of the web plate in steel beams with multiple circular perforations, cellular beams, causes the web plate to undergo distortions prior to and during lateral torsional buckling (LTB). The conventional LTB equations in the codes and literature underestimate the buckling moments of cellular beams due to web distortions. The present study is an attempt to develop analytical methods for estimating the elastic buckling moments of cellular beams. The proposed methods rely on the reductions in the torsional and warping rigidities of the beams due to web distortions and the reductions in the weak-axis bending and torsional rigidities due to the presence of web openings. To test the accuracy of the analytical estimates from proposed solutions, a total of 114 finite element analyses were conducted for six different standard IPEO sections and varying unbraced lengths within the elastic limits. These analyses clearly indicated that the LTB solutions in the AISC 360-16 and AS4100:2020 codes overestimate the buckling loads of cellular beams within elastic limits, particularly at shorter span lengths. The LDB solutions in the literature and the Eurocode 3 LTB solution, on the other hand, provided conservative buckling moment estimates along the entire range of elastic buckling.
Objective: The aim of this research was to evaluate the mechanical properties (MP) and degree of the phase transformation (PT) of martensitic (M-NiTi), austenitic (A-NiTi) and thermodynamic nickel-titanium wire (T-NiTi). Methods: The samples consisted of $0.016\;{\times}\;0.022$ inch M-NiTi (Nitinol Classic, NC), A-NiTi (Optimalloy, OPTI) and T-NiTi (Neo-Sentalloy, NEO). Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), three-point bending test, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and microstructure examination were used. Statistical evaluation was undertaken using ANOVA test. Results: In DSC analysis, OPTI and NEO showed two peaks in the heating curves and one peak in the cooling curves. However, NC revealed one single broad and weak peak in the heating and cooling curves. Austenite finishing ($A_f$) temperatures were $19.7^{\circ}C$ for OPTI, $24.6^{\circ}C$ for NEO and $52.4^{\circ}C$ for NC. In the three-point bending test, residual deflection was observed for NC, OPTI and NEO. The load ranges of NC and OPTI were broader and higher than NEO. XRD and microstructure analyses showed that OPTI and NEO had a mixture of martensite and austenite at temperatures below Martensite finishing ($M_f$). NEO and OPTI showed improved MP and PT behavior than NC. Conclusions: The mechanical and thermal behaviors of NiTi wire cannot be completely explained by the expected degree of PT because of complicated martensite variants and independent PT induced by heat and stress.

The cross-sections of continuous multi-span beams sometimes suddenly increase, or become stepped, at the interior supports of continuous beams to resist high negative moments. The three-dimensional finite-element program ABAQUS (2006) was used to analytically investigate the inelastic lateral-torsional buckling behavior of stepped beams subjected to pure bending moment and resulted in the development of design equations. The flanges of the smaller cross-section were fixed at 30.48 by 2.54 cm, whereas the width and/or thickness of the flanges of the larger cross-section varied. The web thickness and height of beam was kept at 1.65 cm and 88.9 cm, respectively. The ratios of the flange thickness, flange width, and stepped length of beams are considered analytical parameters. Two groups of 27 cases and 35 cases, respectively, were analyzed for double and single stepped beams. The combined effects of residual stresses and geometrical imperfection on inelastic lateral-torsional buckling of beams are considered. First, the distributions of residual stress of the cross-section is same as shown in Pi, etc (1995), and the initial geometric imperfection of the beam is set by central displacement equal to 0.1% of the unbraced length of beam. The new proposed equations definitely improve current design methods for the inelastic LTB problem and increase efficiency in building and bridge design. The proposed solutions can be easily used to develop new design equation for inelastic LTB resistance of stepped beams subjected to general loading condition such as a concentrated load, a series of concentrated loads or uniformly distributed load.

During the welding process, welding distortion is caused by the non-uniformity of the temperature distribution in the weldment. Welding distortion is redistributed because the residual stress and rigidity change according to the removal of the welded structure. In shipbuilding in particular, this phenomenon may be observed during the cutting process of lugs that are attached to blocks for transfer. The redistribution of welding distortion also causes problems, such as damage to the cutting tool. The aim of this study is to experimentally analyze the redistribution of welding distortion because of the partial removal of the welded structure. In the experiments conducted in this study, fillet welding and cutting were performed, and longitudinal bending and angular distortion in the welded structures were then investigated and analyzed.

In this paper, flexural resistance of hybrid girder under uniform bending moment was evaluated, which is composed of HSB800 and HSB600 steel for the flange and web, respectively. Doubly-symmetric and monosymmetric sections with noncompact or compact flange and slender, noncompact or compact web were considered. Nonlinear analyses with 3-dim. shell element model were performed to determine the 'flexural resistance of section' and the 'lateral torsional buckling strength' by taking initial imperfection and residual stress into account. The numerical results were compared with the AASHTO LRFD and Eurocode 3 specifications and also the applicability of AASHTO LRFD appendix A6 was examined for the sections with noncompact and compact web.
A thermally driven polysilicon micro actuator has been fabricated using surface micromachining techniques. It consists of P-doped polysilicon as a structural layer and TEOS (tetracthylorthosilicate) as a sacrificial layer. The polysilicon was annealed for the relaxation of residual stress which is the main cause to its deformation such as bending and buckling. And the newly developed HF VPE (vapor phase etching) process was also used as an effective release method for the elimination of sacrificial TEOS layer. The thickneas of polysilicon is $2{\mu}m$ and the lengths of active and passive polysilicon cantilevers are $500{\mu}m$ and $260{\mu}m$, respectively. The actuation is incurred by die thermal expansion due to the current flow in the active polysilicon cantilever, which motion is amplified by lever mechanism. The moving distance of polysilicon micro actuator was experimentally conformed as large as $21{\mu}m$ at the input voltage level of 10V and 50Hz square wave. The actuating characteristics are investigated by simulating the phenomena of heat transfer and thermal expansion in the polysilicon layer. The displacement of actuator is analyzed to be proportional to the square of input voltage. These micro actuator technology can be utilized for the fabrication of MEMS (microelectromechanical system) such as micro relay, which requires large displacement or contact force but relatively slow response.

In this paper, lateral-torsional buckling(LTB) strength of HSB800 steel plate girder under uniform bending moment was estimated by the nonlinear analysis. Doubly symmetric sections with slender, noncompact and compact webs were considered and the LTB strength in the inelastic range was estimated by taking initial imperfection and residual stress into account. For the numerical analysis, single-panel model and three-panel model were considered and analysis of SM490 steel plate girder was performed to judge the validity of the constructed models by comparing the results with AASHTO, AISC, Eurocode and KHBDC(LSD) codes. By using the same models, LTB strength of HSB800 girder was evaluated and it was acknowledged that the current codes can be applied to HSB800 girders with doubly symmetric section in the inelastic LTB range.
The flexural behavior of HSB I-girder with a non-slender web attributed to inelastic lateral-torsional buckling under uniform bending was investigated using nonlinear finite element analysis of ABAQUS. The girder was assumed to have a compact or noncompact web in order to prevent premature bend-buckling of the web. The unbraced length of the girder was selected so that inelastic lateral-torsional buckling governs the ultimate flexural strength. The compression flange was also assumed to be either compact or noncompact to prevent local buckling of the elastic flange. Both homogeneous sections fabricated from HSB600 or HSB800 steel and hybrid sections with HSB800 flanges and SM570-TMC web were considered. In the FE analysis, the flanges and web of I-girder were modeled as thin shell elements. Initial imperfections and residual stresses were imposed on the FE model. An elasto-plastic strain hardening material was assumed for steel. After establishing the validity of the present FE analysis by comparing FE results with test results in existing literature, the effects of initial imperfection and residual stress on the inelastic lateral-torsional buckling behavior were analyzed. Finite element analysis results for 96 sections demonstrated that the current inelastic strength equations for the compression flange in AASHTO LTFD can be applied to predict the inelastic lateral torsional buckling strength of homogeneous and hybrid HSB I-girders with a non-slender web.
Recently just as in the automobile industry, shipbuilders also try to reduce material consumption and weight in order to keep operating costs as low as possible and improve the speed of production. Naturally industry is ever searching for welding techniques offering higher power, higher productivity and a better quality. Therefore it is important to have a details research based on the various welding process applied to steel and other materials, and to have the ability both to counsel interested companies and to evaluate the feasibility of implementation of this process. Submerged-arc welding (SAW) process is usually used about 20% of shipbuilding. Similar to gas metal arc welding(GMAW), SAW involves formation of an arc between a continuously-fed bare wire electrode and the work-piece. The process uses a flux to generate protective gases and slag, and to add alloying elements to the weld pool and a shielding gas is not required. Prior to welding, a thin layer of flux powder is placed on the work-piece surface. The arc moves along the joint line and as it does so, excess flux is recycled via a hopper. Remaining fused slag layers can be easily removed after welding. As the arc is completely covered by the flux layer, heat loss is extremely low. This produces a thermal efficiency as high as 60% (compared with 25% for manual metal arc). SAW process offers many advantages compared to conventional CO2 welding process. The main advantages of SAW are higher welding speed, facility of workers, less deformation and better than bead shape & strength of welded joint because there is no visible arc light, welding is spatter-free, fully-mechanized or automatic process, high travel speed, and depth of penetration and chemical composition of the deposited weld metal. However it is difficult to application of thin plate according to high heat input. So this paper has been focused on application of the field according to SAW process for thin plate in ship-structures. For this purpose, It has been decided to optimized welding condition by experiments, relationship between welding parameters and bead shapes, mechanical test such as tensile and bending. Also finite element(FE) based numerical comparison of thermal history and welding residual stress in A-grade 3.2 thickness steel of SAW been made in this study. From the result of this study, It makes substantial saving of time and manufacturing cost and raises the quality of product.
