This study was performed by questionnaire to investigate viewpoints regarding menu excavation and development of native local foods of adults in the Gyeongju area, classified by gender and age. The subject population consisted of 253 citizens(108 males and 145 females) living in Gyeongju. The findings are summarized as follows: The residents highly desired the 'enrichment of service and clean hygiene of local food restaurants', 'active marketing', 'necessity of excavation and development at the present time', and 'development with regional unique characteristics' with regard to the development of the local food choices in Gyeongju, whereas they did not particularly desire 'excavation development of cooking that often is served at family event(birth, marriage, death etc..)', nor 'guidance and enlightenment for many citizens'. The most influential obstacle hindering the development of Gyeongju local food was 'administration support deficiency of connection group agency', followed by 'interest deficiency about local food of restaurant business managers and citizens, different taste of each restaurant', and 'tradition cooking itself is insufficient in Gyeongju'. The most reasonable development menu for native local foods of the Gyeongju area was 'mushroom & beef hot pot(beoseothanu-jeongol)', 'glutinous barley bread(chalborippang)', 'mushroom & bulgogi hot pot(beoseot-bulgogi-jeongol)', 'grilled beef(hanu-sutbul-gui)', and 'grilled minced beef ribs(hanu-tteok-galbi)' in that order. On the other hand, the excavation and development validity scores for 'black goat soup(heukyeomso-tang)', 'gulfweed soup(mojaban-guk)', and 'parboiled octopus(muneo-sukhoe)' were very low.
In Scandinavian countries, where the society experienced change of typical nuclear family structure and higher vocational activity rates of married women earlier than East Asian countries, cohousing scheme has been evolved as an alternative housing to reduce housework for working women, and to reduce loneliness of elderly people who stay in their own homes. They can promote active mutual relationship among residents in the community. Korean family structure has been stemmed to more like extended family, but the tendency to live independently from their married children is getting more and more common in new cohort of senior citizens who are active, healthy, economically stable and higher educated. Korea has been industrialized rather rapidly since 1970's and faces to many societal phenomena about quality of life for senior citizens. Introduction of alternative housing solution for these senior citizens is necessary in Korea. In this paper, Danish senior cohousing scheme, particularly, self-work model project is described about its design feature in accordance to site planning, common facility, and dwelling unit. Aiming to mutual support and more frequent social contacts among residents, self-work model cohousing scheme has different design concept from the service mode scheme. Information about design feature of senior cohousing was collected from the published data with drawings and from field survey to 10 exiting projects in Denmark. Of those, 5 projects were described as a case study. It, hopefully, could provide practical information for architectural design when establishment of senior cohousing schemes start in Korea in the near future.

Gyeonggi Province is trying to increase the number of public libraries from 100 as of December, 2006 to 150 in 2010. However most of existing public libraries preferred mid-to-large scale libraries, so they were restricted to be located in around a zone of life. For this reason most local residents have been excluded from right to use libraries and have difficulties to get library services for the knowledge and information society of the 21st century. The alternative to the small library is a school library. Both schools and public libraries are located in around a zone of life because residents can get an access to them easily. First, considering that small-scale public libraries of communities usually service about 10,000-20,000 people, I estimate that an open-style school library services 24class, 840people (24class*35people) of elementary school by 2003 Korean Library Standard (edited by Korean Library Association). Second, it requires systematic protection policies so that the open-style school of library can function as a local public library and a part of library cooperation system in accordance with local plans. All the open-style school libraries don't intend to open and we had better consider the suitable service areas. Third, it's desired for the management efficiency that the open-style school libraries being established afterward are divided into a branch-scale, a hall-scale and so on, not being uniform management model. And it also needs that one of them in the area enlarges the scale, and then supports other school libraries. According to these results of the research, as cooperation between the public library policy of a local government and school library policy, it needs a systematic support.

Post Occupancy Evaluation(POE) has a good role to improve or adapt the design items through the survey or interview of the resident. Among buildings, the university dormitory provides the living function to support the study in the university. Therefore, it needs to find the design elements and improve the living and study condition for residents. In this paper. it aimed at conducting the POE in university women dormitory for women and providing the building and design items for the next improvement. In addition, it aimed at analyzing the relation between the building satisfaction and the affecting factors, dividing the building into 8 spatial area such as room, entrance area, toilet and etc.. For these, data are surveyed the women dormitory located in the north area of Kyungsangbuk-Do and collected the 683 samples. This study shows some results ; First, the resident evaluates living condition of the dormitory room is a little good. Second, the freshman has a good score more than any other grade, which probably affect the period of the experience and exposure in university. In addition, residents get affect from the finishings, furniture and inconvenience. Third, the resident evaluates living condition of the dormitory room is a little good. Fourth, the satisfaction degree is affected by each size more than any other components in 8 spatial areas. Especially, the number of laundry machine is important factor for satisfaction. Second, the overall satisfaction is affected by room size higher than any other factors.
This study was carried out for improving the effectiveness of water resources development project through local resident opinions in the environmental impact assessment(EIA). The EIA reports of seven dams were examined. Four dams -Youngju Dam, Seongduck Dam, Buhang Dam and Hantangang Dam- which included many local opinions including 470 opinions of 341 local residents were selected to be analyzed. Local residents submitted their opinions in the six fields which are meteorological phenomena, water quality, land use, fauna and flora, noise and vibration, and residence, and the major opinions of those opinions came from the atmosphere environment field which is 32% of total opinions and social and economic field which is 38% of total opinions, respectively. In submerged area, opinions of the measure for migration and compensation were 91% and in non-submerged area, opinions of the measure for meteorological phenomena was 86%. Those percentages were maximum in each area. Opinions concerned meteorological phenomena were 86% and 53% in Youngju Dam and Seongduck Dam where area is surrounded by existing dam, but there was only 9% and 0% of opinions in Buhang Dam and Hantangang Dam where area is without existing dam nearby. The reformation methods which reflected the resident's opinions were suggested on EIA in dam development projects. First of all, reliability and objectivity of the field of meteorological phenoma should be enhanced by scientific prediction of the phenomenon days. Secondly, techniques reducing uncertainty of various water quality prediction models ought to be developed and effectiveness of the reduction strategies in environmental impact should be quantified. Finally, the draft of EIA report should involve the detailed plans of migration and compensation's procedures, criteria and measures to support.
This research tried to present some basic data necessary to give effective support to urban retirees who already returned to the farm by looking into factors effecting on their adjustments to the lives before they returned to the farm and after they did so to know how well they adapt to the rural lives. For the purpose, we made a survey of 408 returners to the farm over the age of 50 for 6 days from October 18 to October 23 in 2004 using questionaires. The results show the followings. First, there are significant difference in the satisfaction with the rural life occurred by the sociological demographic changes according to 'health condition', 'subjective economic ability' and 'previous job'. Second, the difference of satisfaction with the rural lift which was taken place by the reasons before they moved to the farm is effected considerably by what made them decide to return to the farm first whether they prepared for it or not and how much money they have to do so. Therefore, to succeed in adjustment to the rural lives, their decision should be made by positive causes, they have to prepare concretely for it before they carry out their plans and they had better have enough money to move. Third, the difference of satisfaction with the rural life occurred by the reasons after they moved to the farm is effected by 'satisfaction with the forming information', 'the number of friends or neighbors', 'the frequency of meeting the friendly', 'the level of intimacy with neighbors' and 'their efforts to improve the relations with other residents'. And the sensitiveness to perceive the inconvenience according to the rural life is related strongly to the satisfaction with the rural life in the above 6 areas. Fourth, the repression analysis implemented to find how much the above 3 factors effect on the satisfaction with the rural life shows that it is 'returner's current health condition', 'farming education', 'farming fund' and 'effort to be intimate with other residents' that are very important.

In 2010, Busan Metropolitan City established an organization dedicated to urban regeneration. The Sanbok Road Renaissance Project and Hope Village Project are representative urban regeneration projects. Busan Metropolitan City is a leading local government that has expanded community business through urban policies. This study analyzed the operational status and characteristics of community-based community businesses based in Busan Metropolitan City in the early stages of urban regeneration policy. As a result, the direction of community-based community business is 'community empowerment'. However, the project effects such as 'expansion of opportunities for local residents to help each other' and 'residents' understanding of the local community' were low. In order to operate a community business, it is important to secure sufficient business capital and secure necessary human resources. In order to revitalize community-based community businesses through urban regeneration policies, it is necessary to convert support into functional organizations of urban regeneration projects rather than expanding subsidies and expand opportunities for business participation.
Despite the serious problem of idle communal facilities in rural areas, previous studies focused on determining their status and grasping their current status rather than proposing fundamental solutions. The purpose is to suggest a direction for activating these facilities. To identify the key factors hindering the use of idle and under-utilized facilities in rural areas, a survey was conducted on three groups of interested parties, public officials, operators, and rural residents, to identify items that were effective and examine significant cognitive differences between the groups. Based on the results of the research analysis, it was concluded that although there are differences between the groups in the level of awareness, the causes of preventing facility utilization appear to be similar. Although local governments desire to avoid criticism for idleness, it was found that they are most aware of the limitations of administrative support. Even within the village, residents do not recognize the need for additional facilities unconditionally but do realize their own inadequacies. Thus, despite the differences among stakeholders, it was found that there is a consensus regarding the problem of idle communal facilities in rural areas. As a result, the operating entity is delegated to an individual rather than a joint entity so as to allow the facility to be operated responsibly, and local ordinances are enacted by a group of local officials in order to overcome administrative guidelines limitations. It is suggested that the main issue is securing manpower.

The domestic swine industry is currently facing a threat due to the recent increase in pork imports. This study aims to determine what factors influence consumers' intention to consume imported pork and suggest measures to support the domestic pork industry. To achieve this, we analyzed data from the Korea Rural Economic Institute's Food Consumption Behavior Survey using a binary logistic regression model. The results revealed that a higher intention to consume imported pork is linked to a higher intention to consume imported rice, purchasing meat online, frequent purchases of HMR, and procuring U.S. beef, especially among urban residents. On the other hand, a lower intention to consume imported pork is associated with a higher awareness of animal welfare certification, frequently dining out, and older age. Based on these findings, we propose the following response measures for the domestic swine industry: implementing educational programs, marketing, and advertising specifically targeting urban residents to improve their perception of domestic agricultural products; enhancing price competitiveness through distribution optimization; and developing policies to promote the use of domestic pork as an ingredient in processed foods.

This study aims to provide the basic materials for the development of leisure and tourism contents in connection with Osaek cableway for the revitalization of Osaek District. For such a purpose, the following policy directions were presented through the analysis of the present situation and conditions of Osaek District, the direction of development of leisure and tourism contents of Osaek District, etc. The first is increasing the participation of local residents and reinforcing their capabilities. The suggested promotion plans are ① establishing organizational system and strengthening support, ② reinforcing the capabilities of local residents and ③ constructing networks with external human resources. The second is setting the guidelines for contents development. It was proposed to prepare contents for leisure experience using the natural environment of Osaek District in response to the trend of increase of people who enjoy "contents using culture and arts" and leisure. The third is typological approach to contents. It was proposed to develop cultural contents with the theme of Osaek such as "Osaek Light Festival", "Osaek Concert", "Osaek Photo Exhibition" and "Osaek Good Men and Women Contest" for the promotion of the brand of the place name of Osaek and the creation of the "Picture Book Village" for the compilation of the history and culture of Osaek District with pictures. The fourth is securing marketing channels. For this, it was proposed to produce the website of Yangyang County or a website tentatively named as "Osaek-ri with Beautiful Osaek" and introduce an integrated travel product (transportation + lodging + foods + experience (hot spring, mineral water therapy, leisure experience, etc.) + purchasing local specialty products, etc.) composed of the leisure and tourism contents, transportation, lodging, foods, etc. of Osaek District through travel agencies. The final policy direction presented was phased implementation of the development and operation of the contents. Proposed policies include support of a consulting project to upgrade the organization of local residents; implementation of "Tourism Dure (Cooperative)" project for the solution of the problem of tourism in Osaek District by the residents themselves together using the space of culture and arts made by remodeling idle public and private facilities after benchmarking exemplary places; system improvement for the introduction of leisure and tourism contents appropriate for local conditions; and the establishment of a master plan for the introduction of various leisure and tourism contents in Osaek District.
