  • Today, residential building is considered of be one of the most important space of their quality of life and health. Residential buildings should provide comfortable environments to support the activities of their occupants. And good residential buildings are made by appropriately combining residential spaces, such as living room, master bedroom, bedroom, kitchen, restroom, and so on. These combinations in residential building are must be compatible with the activities of the occupants and their needs. The objective of this research is to investigate and analyze the relative importance and space priority between residential space in residential buildings depending on occupants' characteristics, such as, gender and age. Especially, this research is to find space weighting factors for integrative evaluation in residential buildings based on occupant survey. These weighting factors play an important role in determining the relative importance of various residential spaces for integrative residential space evaluation. And, the result from this research will help designers and researchers to find space planning strategies in residential building, and develop new integrative evaluation framework for improving residential quality from the occupants' point of view.

Sustainable Urban Development and Residential Space Demand in the Untact Era: The Case of South Korea

  • The study analyzes the demand for residential space in the Untact Era. Residential space comprises six categories: the most necessary dedicated space (DS), most preferred south-facing space (SFS), largest space (LS), most necessary shared space (SS), most necessary infra-space (IS), and others. Results indicated the following: 1) All respondents had the highest preference for relaxing spaces except DS. 2) Differences were found between DS, SFS, and LS by age and SS; IS by residential area; and DS, SS, and IS by household size. 3) People aged 60+ preferred a living room while people aged 40-59 preferred a larger kitchen. Seoul citizens preferred gardens or parks in the complex or neighboring forests whereas local citizens preferred shared offices and medical centers. Households of three or more persons preferred a park/forest and two-person households preferred a honbap restaurant. The implications for housing policy are as follows. 1) Nature-friendly spaces are needed to alleviate a sense of isolation. 2) Changing demand for residential space should be reflected in housing policies. 3) The government's housing supply policy with the same residential space and structure must be changed to provide various residential spaces according to age, residential area, and household size.

현대 일본 주거공간 디자인에 나타난 자연요소 도입유형에 관한 연구 - 식물과 물을 중점으로 - (A Study on Types of Natural Elements Introduced in Contemporary Japanese Residential Space - Focused on the Plants & Water -)

  • Recently, as people have more interest in health, and some change takes place in their lifestyles, a demand for environment-friendly residential space is also increasing. Research on the introduction of natural elements is mostly conducted for humans to pursue a more pleasant and comfortable life in residential space since it has one of the closest relation with humans. Therefore, it is such an important assignment at present when environmental problems are considered significant. Based on such a necessity, this study analyzed the introduction types and characteristics of natural elements in residential space by considering essential and psychological aspects more than previous researches on residential space with practical and functional aspects. As natural elements, this study put limits on plants and water that are used a lot in the interior space, and by dividing introduction types into recomposition of courtyard space, spatial partition and decorative elements, this study carried out a case analysis of residential space structures recently completed in Japan. As a basic research on space planning that is desperately required by change in the residential life paradigm and on the basis of understanding about nature, it is expected that the results of this study will be used as design basic data useful when establishing plans of introducing natural elements for residential space in the future.

완전 자율주행 자동차의 주거공간으로의 확장에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Expansion of Fully Autonomous Vehicles into Residential Space)

  • 최근 주거가치의 변동으로 인해, 주거공간 내에서의 다양한 공간에 대한 사용자 니즈가 커지고 있다. 하지만, 이동과 변형 등이 어려운 주거공간 특성상 최초 구성된 주거 형태를 사용자의 필요에 따라 변경하고 재구성하기가 쉽지 않다. 이에 본 연구는 이동이 가능한 공간 개념의 완전 자율주행 자동차를 활용하여 변화하는 주거가치에 따른 사용자 니즈를 충족시킬 방안을 도출하고자 하였다. 먼저 문헌연구를 통해 기존 주거공간을 유형화하였으며, 이를 토대로 사용자 연구를 통하여 주거를 위한 완전 자율주행 자동차의 공간 유형을 도출하였다. 그 후 설문조사법과 통계적 분석을 통해 주거공간에 대한 사용자 니즈 분석과 도출된 공간 유형의 유용성 분석 및 유형 구체화를 진행하였다. 마지막으로 연구결과를 토대로 주거를 위한 완전 자율주행 자동차의 디자인 방향성을 제시하였다. 사용자의 인식을 바탕으로 주거목적의 완전 자율주행 자동차의 공간을 유형화하고 디자인 방향성을 제안하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the residential needs of family types and to suggest the basic documents for the apartments remodeling, which can be through the actual survey of residential living of old apartments. Generally, they have the residential living pattern according to the family types and the residential space types and it has an effect on the confrontation structure of residential living and residential space. Finally, through the analysis on the confrontation structure of residential living and residential space according to the family types and residential space, we found the residential needs and the family types and the applicable family types and there is some difference the residential needs according to the family types, but no difference according to the entrance types.

대학 기숙사 주거기능영역의 환경인자와 사용자 만족도의 인과분석 연구 (A Study on Cause-and-Effect Analysis between the Environmental Factors of Residential Area at the University Dormitory and the User Satisfaction)

  • This study aims to understand functional spaces within university dormitory, examine the influences of residential environment factors and personal characteristics on users' satisfaction through what parameters and probability among these parameters and seek improvement methods for dormitory users to live at dormitory as the best residential space through causal analysis of residential space uses at university dormitory based on such a probability. Research methods include theoretical research of architectural space characteristics of university dormitory facilities through literature survey, analysis of satisfaction with spaces and their uses through questionnaire and causal analysis of each residential environment factor after making route model using data obtained from the results of analysis. The results of this study are as follows. Factors affecting residents' satisfaction with cultural activities of residential environment factors are safety, territoriality, interior finishing and complexity and those affecting residents' educational activities are safety and amenity of space. Residential function space of university dormitory must have spatial planning that social activities including individual and small group culture and educational activities from the view of spatial territoriality and flexibility based on safety and amenity and facilities related to continuity and connection of common space and unit residential space should be decentralized rather than centralized.

  • Assuming that while the Confucian idea-based awareness of boundary appeared to have a distinct effect on traditional residential spaces the awareness of an individualized nuclear family-oriented boundary deviated from authoritarianism has been recently shown in the modern residential spaces, this study was conducted to clarify what the modern people's awareness of boundary influences individual residential spaces and how the boundary is structured. This study was carried out by examining prior studies on the concepts of boundary and analysing the planes of residential apartments as a typical modern residential space, based on the comparison of traditional and modern residential spaces. It was shown, then, that the awareness of boundary in the modern residential space appeared to be structured in the residential apartment space according to the change in the social position and role of family members, unlike the spatial division of the traditional residential spaces based on the social class and sex.

주거환경 스트레스요인에 영향을 미치는 변인에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Variables Influencing Residential Stress Factors)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify residential stress and to analyse the factors affect on it, based on the comprehensive theoretical model. For this purpose, 822 housewives were collected from the households in Seoul and Chonju-City. The main results obtained are as follows. 1. A significant proportion of the urban households surveyed are observed to suffer from residential stressors. The components of residential stressors are housing facilities, family living space, social interaction with the neighborhoods, physical condition of house. 2. Among the factors that affect residential stress the most important household environment factors are, the level of family controllability, which is followed by the family adaptation ability, the size of living space, the level of life satisfaction, and the type of housing tenure. The results of this study implies that residential stress is associated with not only residential size but also the level of housing facilities and social interaction. Overall upgrading of residential quality requires efficient allocation of living space and facilities on the basis of resident's needs. For instance, homeowners want more living space and renters want higher level of residential facilities.

도시단독주택지 가로공간 계획을 위한 거주자 만족도 분석 연구 (A Study on the Residential Satisfaction Analysis for Street Space Design in Detached House Area)

  • This study surveys the degree of residents' satisfaction on the current street space to suggest alternatives for the improvement of the street space design in detached house areas. In the results of the survey, we find the following. First, in the result of analysis on age, residential term, having children or not, income level, and type of house ownership, residents are homogeneous in social and economic characteristics. There are similarity in geographical, locational conditions, neighboring facilities, deterioration of residential house, and the time of residential formation among residential areas. Second, satisfactory determinants of residents on street space according to street types, are maintenance, protection of privacy, and parking space. Third, satisfactory determinants of residents on street hierarchy is the inner circulation road while unsatisfactory one is the inner roads. Fourth, age, residential term and type of house ownership are significant factors influencing residents' satisfaction. Factors influencing satisfaction on street space are also affecting total satisfaction and factors associated with street environment are perceived more important ones than factors associated with street activities. Thus we find the degrees of satisfaction for residents on street type and street hierarchy are different despite that general characteristics of residents are similar. We also find residents consider street noise and maintenance as critical factor among physical factors of street space.

부산광역시 명지주거단지 완충녹지가 거주생활 만족에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Resident Satisfaction Regarding Buffer Green Space at Meoyng-ji Multi-family Housing in Busan Metropolitan City)

  • 주거지역의 완충녹지는 주거환경 개선을 위한 하나의 메커니즘인 동시에 거주생활 만족에도 중요하고 다양한 사회적 역할을 수행하고 있다고 볼 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 주거환경의 환경영향을 최소화하기 위해 설치하는 완충녹지를 대상으로 거주생활 만족에 미치는 영향관계를 파악하는 것을 목적으로 했다. 이러한 연구목적을 달성하기 위해서 계획적으로 완충녹지가 설치되어 있는 명지주거단지의 거주민을 대상으로 설문조사를 통한 완충녹지가 가지고 있는 요인을 파악하고, 거주생활 만족도와의 인과관계를 분석했다. 분석은 사회과학 통계 패기지 SPSS(statistical package for social science) 21을 사용하여 요인분석, 상관분석, 다중회귀분석을 통해 분석하였다. 그 결과, 명지주거단지 완충녹지의 역할은 주거쾌적성, 방재성, 녹지 이용성, 환경 생태성의 네 가지 요인으로 결정되었으며, 전체 누적 요인 기여율은 62.48% 중 주거쾌적성 기여율이 40.54%로 매우 높게 나타났다. 그리고 거주생활 만족도와는 주거 쾌적성과 녹지 이용성이 다소 높은 상관관계를 보였으며, 방재성과 환경 생태성은 유의확률이 각각 0.725와 0.898로 다중회귀분석의 선호요인으로 유의하지 않는 것으로 분석되었다. 따라서 주거 쾌적성과 녹지 이용성을 높이기 위한 완충녹지 조성이 거주생활 만족도를 향상시키는 것으로 밝혀졌다.
