  • With the proliferation of telecommunication technologies, the traditional internal focus of information systems has shifted to entities beyond the organization's boundaries. In recent years, electronic data interchange (EDI) has come to revolutionize the way in which a business operates and relates to other businesses, Based on the establishment of trading activities, EDI systems have come to signify a speedy, efficient, and accurate means of electronically exchanging business transactions This study examines the current research trends in the area of EDI systems and identifies several issues for future research.55 articles in the EDI area from 1987 through 1996 were collected from related journals and proceedings of conferences. The articles are categorized by years and journals. The amount of EDI research has increased dramatically during the period of the study. Also, presented are the results of a content analysis of the articles. The findings not only provides general information about reserch methods, and direction of EDI study.

  • The purpose of this research is to validate the determinants of information systems(IS) sourcing strategy focusing on Korean financial institutions. Based on the factor analyses and discriminant analyses using data from 34 major Korean financial institutions, we observed that determinants of IS souring strategy are perceived risks, strategic expectations and organizational IS maturity. If the clients have clear objectives, can control the risks from IS sourcing, and have information systems in the less-matured stage, they frequently outsource their IS. In view of the IS maturity, previous studies suggest that more-matured IS are outsourced. But the results of this study show that more-matured IS are insourced. These phenomena can be explained by classifying IS by their functions. Transaction processing systems, which are mission-critical, are generally insourced, but decision support systems, which are in their mature state, are generally outsourced.

  • Recently, as the pandemic COVID-19 has been spread worldwide, international research cooperation has come to the fore to overcome the crisis and develop treatments. Currently, in Korea, with the support from the Ministry of Education and the Korea Research Foundation, the International Research Cooperation Information Center operates an online service system for international research cooperation as a venue for sharing results among international research cooperation researchers and invigorating such research. However, since Korea's performance in international research cooperation is still poor, actively pursuing measures to improve professionalism and diversity based on international cooperation is deemed necessary. Therefore, in this study, factors influencing the level of satisfaction with international research cooperation online service systems were identified, and measures to increase the satisfaction of international research cooperation online service were proposed based on the analysis results. Design of the system quality factors, accuracy and consistency of the information quality factors, and professionalism of the service quality factors were verified to have a significant effect on the satisfaction with international research cooperation online service systems. Accordingly, further strengthening the aspects of design, accuracy, consistency, and professionalism was proposed as a way to increase the satisfaction of international research cooperation online service systems.

  • This paper empirically and longitudinally examines relationships among corporate strategy, competitive advantage of information technology (CAIT), and organizational performance. This research replicates the research done in 1997 and compares the results to observe any noticeable changes. Research results confirm that information technology provides several traits of strategic advantages such as efficiency, threat, functionality, preemptiveness, and synergy and significantly contributes to corporate performance both in 1997 and 2004. The findings reinforce the accepted belief that alignment between corporate strategy and CAIT is critical for firms to attain sustainable competitive advantage, subsequently enhances corporate performance and competitive position against rivals, potential entrants, substitutes, suppliers, and buyers. Research results of 2004 show stronger relationships among corporate strategy, competitive advantage of information technology, and organizational performance than research results of 1997.

  • This paper reviewed major GDSS literatures from the "groupthink" standpoint, proposed a new framework for GDSS research, and suggested research issues. Despite a sizable amount of GDSS research for a dacade, the results tend to lack consistency, and still more studies are needed in many areas. One way to overcome the limitations is the thorough review of GDSS literatures and "groupthink" theories. Especially, groupthink/decision-making literatures provide many useful insights and guidelines for further exploring new GDSS research areas.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine some of the most important factors for the development of information systems with today's fast-paced, ever-changing, and exciting information system environment. Especially, it was focused to investigate current information technology related to develop information systems, to find some important problems during the development process, and to suggest solutions for the problems. Case research methodology was used because a natural setting was needed and a focus was on contemporary events for this study. Similarly, research phenomena was not supported by a strong theoretical base. The case was the development of an integrated information systems in a specific university. Multiple-case designs were desirable, but single-case study was used because of limitations of site selection. Multiple data collection methods were employed in this study such as documentation, interviews, and direct observation. Some major problems were found during the system development. First, the schedule to complete a project was delayed over six months. Second, the system did not ensure to align organizational goals and information systems goals based on BPR (Business Process Reengineering). Third, there was a difficulty in evaluating request for proposal (RPR) returns and choosing a vendor. Finally, information technology is changing too fast. So, it was very difficult to get the transparency of new technology The study has suggested a few solutions: top management support, matching If planning with business planning, complete project plan and control, user participation, and training Finally, joint application development (JAD) is strongly recommended, which is a workshop that unites management, IT specialists, and knowledge workers to define and specify the logical requirements and technical alternatives for a proposed system.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between knowledge sharing and academic performance in the context of quality-assurance related work. It furthermore aims to explore the role of information technology in mediating this relationship. Quantitative method was applied to collect data from the participants using an online-based questionnaire. Convenience sampling technique was used. The responses were collected from 140 participants in a university from Saudi Arabia. The study found a strong positive relationship between knowledge sharing and individual performance. It was also found out that information technology partially mediates the relationship between knowledge sharing and individual performance. The research unearths the significant contribution made by information technology in mediating the relationship between individual-level knowledge sharing and the individual performance. This helps to understand the positive impacts on individual work performance in institutions of higher education that would be derived if individuals use various forms of IT to share knowledge. The focus of the research is the individual performance as the pertinent contribution towards positive outcomes in institutional performance.

  • This paper presents mutual authentication scheme between user and network on mobile communications using public key scheme based on counter, and simultaneously shows key agreement between user and user using random number for secure communications. This is also a range of possible solutions to authentication and key agreement problem-authentication and key agreement protocol based on nonce and count, and secure end-to-end protocol based on the function Y=f(.)$\^$1/, C$\^$i/ is count of user I, and f(.) is one way function.

  • This study examines the relationship between R&D investment and subsequent outputs of the research activity. Usually, there is some time difference between the production of research outputs, such as academic papers and application or registration of patents, and the investment of R&D expenditure. The time lag for producing this kind of research outputs should be considered to evaluate the performance of research activity exactly. The purpose of this study is to identify time lag effect between the times of input and output of a R&D activity and to derive the degree of time lag using the data set of a long term R&D program supported by Korean government. A modified Almon model is suggested to identify the time lag effect between input and output of research activities performed by this program. Time-series cross-section data from 16 research centers between 2001 and 2009 are used to find time lag effect.

  • The purpose of this study, based on domestic sample businesses using EDI systems, is to identify success factors, which affect adoption of EDI systems by domestic business entities. And this paper also intends to provide guideline important in the establishment and management of EDI systems based factors identified. The major contents of this research are as follow. This paper, first, tries to develop conceptual framework based on previous research to identify factors which affect successful adoption of EDI systems. Second, it intends to develop new version of survey questionnaire by referring to various survey questionnaires previously used by similar studies. Third, it also intends to the extent of each factor on the successful adoption and implementation of EDI systems, and examines proposed hypotheses.
