Purpose: This study aimed to develop an instrument that measured adherence to self-management among patients with hypertension, and to verify the validity and reliability of the developed instrument. Methods: The 34 indicators that underwent the content validity test were provided to 202 subjects for investigation The collected data were analyzed using SPSS Ver. 22.0 and Amos Ver. 25.0. Results: Five factors, 'interaction,' 'lifestyle change,' 'continuing motivation,' 'medical care', and 'weight control' were extracted, and the total cumulative variance was shown to be 61.75%. The test statistic of the regression coefficient was statistically significant according to the confirmatory factor analysis. Conclusion: It is suggested that more research is needed to generalize the instrument to suit more candidates, while continuing to refine the reliability and validity of the instrument.
The most difficult problem one faces in estimating North Korea's GNP is the lack of basic national income data. In addition, there is no appropriate foreign exchange rate available to convert North Korea's GNP to dollar values. The physical indicators method is particularly useful in estimating North Korean GNP because it requires only a modest amount of data and obtains dollar GNP directly by applying a relationship between physical indicators and GNP, which is estimated from reference countries, to physical indicators of North Korea. The estimated result of North Korean GNP in 1990 is 27.1 billion dollars and per capita GNP 1,268 dollars. The trade participation ratio (Trade/GNP) implied by the GNP estimate was plausible and so was the ratio of fiscal expenditure to GNP. This paper examined the physical indicators method's logic, the quality of the North Korean data that was used in the estimation, and the plausibility of estimation result. Relatively simple data requirement, comparative ease of computation and plausible estimation results suggest that use of physical indicators method could enhance the reliability of North Korean GNP estimate.
Background: Currently, evidence-based medicine is widely propagated as a reference for proper clinical practice. As a result, there is an increasing need for more clinical trials based on Oriental diagnostic methods to evaluate the efficacy of Oriental medicine, including acupuncture and herbal medicine. The purpose of this study was to confirm which symptoms are adequate indicators of effects of Ojeock-san for lower back pain and develop a questionnaire to evaluate its effects. Methods: We interviewed 102 Oriental medical doctors working in Seoul with a preformed questionnaire which included questions about symptoms of lower back pain and indicators for Ojeock-san. We sampled respondents who answered that they trust the effectiveness of Ojeock-san in telephone survey carried out using multistage stratified random sampling technique from March to April, 2009. We categorized the respondents into two groups, differentiating them by gender, career, workplace, and trust level of Ojeock-san effect. Results: About half of the respondents selected 13 questions as the adequate indicators of Ojeock-san for low back pain. There were no differences in the top 11 selected indicators in total selection and top 3 ranking selection. The comparison of frequency of top 13 questions in total selections between the two groups showed no difference. Conclusions: There were 13 symptoms which were considered adequate indicators of effects of Ojeock-san for lower back pain found by many Oriental medical doctors. This questionnaire can be utilized as a diagnostic adjunctive tool, tested for validity and reliability of questionnaires through further studies.

The government has recognized the importance of smart city indicators and prepared the legal grounds for the certification of smart cities in the recently revised "Act on Smart City Development and Industrial Promotion." This study derived smart city indicators adequate for the domestic conditions and compatible with the overseas trends by examining and complementing the indicators through an AHP analysis based on consultations and interviews (surveys) with experts and local government officials, who are actually carrying out related projects. In addition, the adequacy and reliability of the indicators were confirmed by verifying and certifying the Korean local governments' smart city plans through demand surveys on a trial basis. This study is meaningful in that it systematically studies the smart city indicators that have gained in importance and reviews their application. The findings of this study can be used as a basis for implementing a smart cities certification system in the future. Recently, the Special Committee on Smart Cities was established under the Committee for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This committee is composed of civilian members and is working with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, the Ministry of Science and ICT, etc., to promote the creation of smart cities. It is expected that smart city indicators that include the levels of both domestic and overseas smart cities will boost the active spread of such cities in Korea.
Purpose: This study aimed to develop a scale measuring the Patient-Centered Nursing Culture (PCNC) and provide a basic tool to improve PCNC in Korea. Methods: A conceptual framework and construct factors were extracted through extensive literature review and in-depth interviews with nursing professionals. In total, 59 items were derived based on the pilot survey. Data were collected from 357 nurses working at general hospitals and analyzed for verifying the reliability and validity of the scale. Results: Nine factors containing 54 items were extracted from the exploratory factor analysis to verify the construct validity. The nine factors were top management leadership, policy and procedure, education and training, middle management leadership, supportive teamwork, nursing workplace environment, professional competence, patient-centered nursing activity, and nurses' values. These items were verified by convergent, discriminant, and concurrent validity testing. The internal consistency reliability was acceptable (Cronbach's ${\alpha}=.96$). Conclusion: The developed PCNC scale is expected to be used as the tool for the development of theory and improvement of PCNC, the empirical testing for cause and effect of PCNC, the development of interventions, education and training programs for improving PCNC, and indicators for evaluation or accreditation of hospital service quality.
Purpose: This study developed an instrument to evaluate the health empowerment of North Korean women refugees and examined its validity and reliability. Methods: Through literature review and focused group interviews, 66 preliminary items with three constructs, including perceived control, perceived competence, and goal internalization were selected based on Menon's psychological health empowerment model. A questionnaire survey was conducted with 239 North Korean women refugees in the community from August 31 to September 4, 2020. Content, construct, convergent, and discriminative validity were evaluated. Cronbach's α was used to evaluate the reliability of scale. Results: The final instrument consisted of 31 items with three factors that were identified through confirmatory factor analysis. The convergent validity showed that the correlation coefficient was .52 (p < .001), which confirmed the validity of the developed measurement tool. Cronbach's α for all the items was .94, and Cronbach's α for the factors was .76~.91. Conclusion: This health empowerment scale has been developed to include aspects of health empowerment, provide a conceptual framework, and offer objective indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of a health education program.
The purpose of this study was to verify the reliability and validity of the Job Meaning Scale for Nutrition Teachers (JMS-NT). The JMS-NT, the Nutrition Teacher Job Satisfaction Scale (NTJSS), and the Meaning in Life Questionnaire (MLQ) were administered to 180 nutrition teachers (female: 180, male: 0). The results showed that the JMS-NT had a three-factor structure in exploratory factor analysis. In addition, the test-retest reliability for all three factors of the JMS-NT was in the range of 0.69 to 0.85, and the internal consistency was in the range of 0.92 to 0.94, showing that they met the standards. The results of conducting Pearson correlation analyses between the JMS-NT and validity indicators such as the NTJSS and the MLQ were statistically significant, confirming the criterion validity of the scale. The above results show that the JMS-NT is a reliable and valid tool to measure the three factors of the job meaning of the nutrition teachers. Finally, the theoretical and practical significance, limitations, and future research tasks of the study were discussed.
The purpose of this study was to develop a performance measurement factor of Balanced Scorecard(BSC) for health-care organization. We did also the research to evaluate the validity and reliability of these indicators. Fifty six health-care organizations are participated in a survey questionnaires. This questionnaires consists of 53-questions, which are the performance evaluation indicators designed by researcher, which are based on the Norton and Kaplan's BSC-Framework. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was carried out and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was applied to analyze the weight and significances of each factor. Factor analysis of the BSC resulted in 11 major measurement factors (Eigenvalue >1.0). The AHP analysis showed the list of the hospital BSC measurement factors and its KPI(Key Performance Indicator) weighted by its significance priorities. The recommendable degree of reliability and validity of these BSC factors suggests that these factors are adequate for performance measurements of the health-care organizations in Korea.
The purposes of this study were: a) to develop the a quality measurement tool for the contract-managed hospital foodservice, and b) to evaluate their performance with the developed quality measurement tool, and c) to verify the reliability and validity of the quality measurement tool. The developed quality measurement tool comprised two parts, which were foodservice management and medical nutrition care service. The foodservice management part was classified into six functional categories which were Menu, Procurement and Storage, Production and Distribution, Facility and Utility, Sanitation and Safety, and Management and Evaluation. The medical nutrition care service part indicated the medical nutrition care provided. Quality measurement tool had 91 standards and 324 indicators. The quality measurement tools were distributed to the hospital foodservice manager employed by the foodservice company. The 324 indicators were measured by foodservice manager on the 5-Likert-type scales, and then adapted to a 100 point scale. The SPSS Ver. 11.0 was used for statistical analysis. The categories whose scores were evaluated as being high were Procurement', General Sanitation', Personal sanitation' and Waste' and the categories whose scores were evaluated as being low were Diet Order Manual', Standard Recipe', Appropriateness (Facility and Utility)', Check (Facility and Utility)'and Information Management'. All the categories of medical nutrition service were evaluated as having seriously low scores. Therefore, it was necessary for the contract-managed hospital foodservice to improve its performance in the area of medical nutrition care service. For the verification of the developed quality measurement tool, the reliability obtained by calculating Cronbach's α was 0.8747, and the content validity was also proved by scrutiny of the modification of the Professional group's techniques. Ground Motion Prediction Equations (GMPEs) are essential tools in seismic hazard analysis. With the introduction of probabilistic approaches for the estimation of seismic response of structures, also known as, performance based earthquake engineering framework; new tasks are defined for response spectrum such as the reference criterion for effective structure-specific selection of ground motions for nonlinear time history analysis. One of the recent efforts to introduce a high quality databank of ground motions besides the corresponding selection scheme based on the broadband spectral consistency is the development of SIMBAD (Selected Input Motions for displacement-Based Assessment and Design), which is designed to improve the reliability of spectral values at all natural periods by removing noise with modern proposed approaches. In this paper, a new global GMPE is proposed by using selected ground motions from SIMBAD to improve the reliability of computed spectral shape indicators. To determine regression coefficients, 204 pairs of horizontal components from 35 earthquakes with magnitude ranging from Mw 5 to Mw 7.1 and epicentral distances lower than 40 km selected from SIMBAD are used. The proposed equation is compared with similar models both qualitatively and quantitatively. After the verification of model by several goodness-of-fit measures, the epsilon values as the spectral shape indicator are computed and the validity of available prediction equations for correlation of the pairs of epsilon values is examined. General consistency between predictions by new model and others, especially, in short periods is confirmed, while, at longer periods, there are meaningful differences between normalized residuals and correlation coefficients between pairs of them estimated by new model and those are computed by other empirical equations. A simple collapse assessment example indicate possible improvement in the correlation between collapse capacity and spectral shape indicators (${\varepsilon}$) up to 20% by selection of a more applicable GMPE for calculation of ${\varepsilon}$.
