  • This study examined the level of experienced problem and related variables of farming women as a part of study on problem diagnosis and status enhancement of rural women. The subjects were 980 married farming women living in rural area. Data were analyzed by frequencies, percentages, mean, standard deviation, factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan-test, and multiple regression. The major findings were as follows : 1) Rural women experienced five categorized problems(farming work & health problem, institution & facilities problem, personality differences & communication problem with husband, child & in-law relatives problem, and husbands violence & sexual problem. 2) The significant variables that influenced on experienced problems were conflict coping behaviors, husbands housework participation, farming work time, age, the level of health, and income etc. Additionally socio-demographic factors, their vocational consciousness, housework sharing, and couples difference of sex-role attitude as related variables of the level of experienced problem of farming women were exmained and discussed the implication.

  • The purpose of this research is to provide fundamental data, which is essential to develop counselling and educational program for autistic family, analyzing family stress and coping strategies of severely autistic child family, mildly autistic child family and normal child family. The result of this research is as follows: There are significant differences among severely autistic child family, mildly autistic child family and normal child family applying to three types of family stress. Also there are significant differences among severely autistic child family, mildly autistic child family and normal child family applying to religions supporting methods and relatives and friend's supporting methods. This research is not discussed that autistic child family with not education. Therefore the follow-up studies need to know that difference between with education and not with education.

  • The purpose of this study was to more fully evaluate the potential for chlorophenol degradation in anaerobic sludge. The pH effects on the ring cleavage of phenol and dechlorination of monochlorophenol isomers and dichlorophenl isomers. This study results are as follows ; Each of the monochlorophenol isomers were degraded in anaerobic sludge. The relatives rates were 2-Chlorophenol > 3-Chlorophenol > 4-Chlorophenol. Biodegradation results for the dichlorophenol isomers in anaerobic sludge are such as 2,3-dichlorophenol and 2,5-dichlorophenol was reductively dechlorinated to 3-chlorophenol, 2,4-dichlorophenol to 4-chlorophenol, 2,6-dichlorophenol to 2-chlorophenol. The two dichlorophenol isomers which did not contain an ortho Cl substituent 3,4-dichlorophenol and 3,5-dichlorophenol were persistent during the 6-week incubation. The rate of dechlorination was enhanced by the presence of a Cl group ortho, rather than para, to the site of dechlorination.

  • Two newly recorded opheliid polychaetes, Armandia amakusaensis Saito, Tamaki and Imajima, 2000 and Polyophthalmus qingdaoensis Purschke, Ding and $M{\ddot{u}}ller$, 1995, from Korean waters are reported with the descriptions and illustrations. Armandia amakusaensis can be clearly distinguished from its congeners by the following characteristics: the prostomium has 2 or 3 subdermal eyespots; total number of setigers are 29; the branchiae are present on the setigers from the setiger 2 to the second or third from the last setiger; the lateral eyespots beginning from the setiger 7 are composed of 11 pairs; the anal funnel has 8~11 papillae and a long cirrus. Polyophthalmus qingdaoensis has the distinguishable characteristics from its relatives as follows: the prostomium has a brain bearing dark pigment-spots; the lateral eyespots are distinct; the body has only dark pigment-streaks on dorsal side. We also provide the keys for distinguishing the species of the genera Armandia and Polyophthalmus from Korean waters.

  • In this comparison of observation of traditional childbirth and early childhood rituals, 118 young mothers whose children were 2- to 2.5- years-old and their mothers or mothers-in-law responded to questionnaires. Results showed that most grandmothers, when they were young mothers, observed more of the traditional rituals than the young mothers in sample. That is, more grandmothers hung the Kum jul(tabb rope) and the baby's grandparents named the baby. The young mothers of this sample were more likely to employ a professional name giver, they telephoned their relatives to inform them of the birth, gave a banquet, took more souvenir of picture, and were given more monetary and other gifts at their's first birthday.

  • Two new records of spionid polychaetes, Prionospio pulchra Imajima, 1990 and Scolelepis (Scolelepis) sagittaria Imajima, 1992, collected from Korean waters are reported here with detailed descriptions and illustrations. Prionospio pulchra can be distinguished from its relatives by remarkably long and apinnate branchiae, the first chaetiger with notopodial chaetae, and the presence of ventral sabre chaetae. Scolelepis (Scolelepis) sagittaria is characterized by a sagittate prostomium, an occipital tentacle, and bi- or tridentate hooded hooks. In this paper, photographs of scanning electron microscopy for characteristic features of each species are presented. Keys to Prionospio and Scolelepis species from Korean waters are also provided.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the use patterns of traditional fermented soybean products(Jang) in Yangsan city. Two hundred eighty seven housewives living in Yangsan joined this survey practiced by Yangsan City Agricultural Development Center. 49.0% of these housewives graduated from a highschool, and 77.4% is in 30s or 40s. Most(69.3%) of respondents themselves have made Jang at home and the preparation frequency of Jang became higher with getting older. This survey showed that the preparation frequency of Jang in large family living with parents is higher than in nuclear family. The Jang preparation tendency of housewives living in the independent home was higher than that of apartment. Most of respondents replied the preparation method of Jang has been learned from mother or mother-inlaw. On the other hand, in the case of no making Jang at home, they bring it generally from relatives or buy it at the market. And 59.8% of housewives anted to participate in the education of Jang preparation.

  • This paper proposes an ontology-based context-aware home healthcare platform employing environmental factors obtained from home. The proposed platform manages the health of home residents, and notifies relatives or a medical team of critical condition through context-awareness based on home ontology by using information sensed from various sensors. The ontology definition of context-awareness from the sensed information provides technically more precise decision for us. Therefore the platform can be aware of the health state of residents and environment by reasoning exactly from data gathered from various sensors and heterogeneous devices. The platform also can individually provide the customized service for users by setting priority for critical status that can be occurred in the health state of residents.

  • Molecular genetic techniques can now be applied to the development of advanced plant genotypes, either through genetic transformation or genomic approaches which allow researchers to transfer specific traits using molecular markers. In this paper, we discuss the use of these techniques towards understanding the genetics of blackleg resistance in Brassica. In a comparative mapping study between Arabidopsis thaliana and Brassica napus, 6 R-ESTs, 7 B. napus RFLP markers and a B. napus EST were located in a collinear region of N7 (B. napus) and chromosome 1 (A. thaliana). One of the A. thaliana R-ESTs and 4 of the B. napus RFLPs co-segregated and mapped to the LmRl locus for blackleg resistance. Introgression of blackleg resistance from wild relatives is also investigated with the possibility of accelerating the introgression process via marker assisted selection.

  • Smart Dining Table is an ongoing project in our Interaction Design Lab. It is a table top display designed to facilitate dining process. Smart Dining Table uses touchable interface to interact with users, providing a new, interesting and efficient experience in dining process. In GuangZhou, the south city of China, Yam Cha is a traditional and local way of entertainment in which normally elders gather together with friends or relatives to have tea and snack, and most importantly, to chat. Yam Cha has a long history in China, and Guangzhou has developed its own unique "Yam Cha" culture. In this paper, we discuss about previous research we did on Yam Cha in GuangZhou, and the approach we propose to manage and analyze issues related to dining table to help designing specific version of Smart Dining Table which can fit right into the Yam Cha process and cultural environment.
