  • In this paper two aspects of the percolation and conductivity of carbon black-filled polyethylene matrix composites will be discussed. Firstly, the percolation behavior, the critical exponent of conductivity of these composites, are discussed based on studying the whole change of resistivity, the relationship between frequency and relative permittivity or ac conductivity. There are two transitions of resistivity for carbon black filling. Below the first transition, resistivity shows an ohmic behavior and its value is almost the same as that of the matrix. Between the first and second transition, the change in resistivity is very sharp, and a non-ohmic electric field dependence of current has been observed. Secondly, the electrical conduction property of the carbon black-filled polyethylene matrix composites below the percolation threshold is discussed with the hopping conduction model. This study investigates the electrical conduction property of the composites below the percolation threshold based on the frequency dependence of conductivity in the range of 20 Hz to 1 MHz. There are two components for the observed ac loss current. One is independent of frequency that becomes prevalent in low frequencies just below the percolation threshold and under a high electrical field. The other is proportional to the frequency of the applied ac voltage in high frequencies and its origin is not clear. These results support the conclusion that the electrical conduction mechanism below the percolation threshold is tunneling.

  • Traditional clustering methods are usually based on the bag-of-words (BOW) model. A disadvantage of the BOW model is that it ignores the semantic relationship among terms in the data set. To resolve this problem, ontology or matrix factorization approaches are usually used. However, a major problem of the ontology approach is that it is usually difficult to find a comprehensive ontology that can cover all the concepts mentioned in a collection. This paper proposes a new document clustering method using semantic features and fuzzy relations for solving the problems of ontology and matrix factorization approaches. The proposed method can improve the quality of document clustering because the clustered documents use fuzzy relation values between semantic features and terms to distinguish clearly among dissimilar documents in clusters. The selected cluster label terms can represent the inherent structure of a document set better by using semantic features based on non-negative matrix factorization, which is used in document clustering. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves better performance than other document clustering methods.

  • Using an inverse of the geometric Jacobian matrix is one of the most popular ways to control robot manipulators, because the Jacobian matrix contains the relationship between joint space velocities and operational space velocities. However, the control algorithm based on Jacobian matrix has algorithmic singularities: The robot manipulator becomes unstable when the Jacobian matrix loses rank. To solve this problem, various methods such as damped and filtered inverse have been proposed, but comparative studies to evaluate the performance of these algorithms are insufficient. Thus, this paper deals with a comparative analysis of six representative singularity avoidance algorithms: Damped Pseudo Inverse, Error Damped Pseudo Inverse, Scaled Jacobian Transpose, Selectively Damped Inverse, Filtered Inverse, and Task Transition Method. Especially, these algorithms are verified through computer simulations with a virtual model of a humanoid robot, THORMANG, in order to evaluate tracking error, computational time, and multiple task performance. With the experimental results, this paper contains a deep discussion about the effectiveness and limitations of each algorithm.

  • Recently, researches have been developing efficient techniques for accessing, querying, and managing XML documents which are frequently used in the Internet. In this paper, we propose a parent-child matrix to cluster XML documents efficiently. A parent-child matrix analyzes both the content and structural features of an XML document. Each cell of a parent-child matrix has either the value of a node in an XML tree or the value of a child node, where a parent-child relationship exists in the XML tree. Then, the similarity between two XML documents can be measured by the similarity between two corresponding parent-child matrices. The experiment shows that our proposed method has good performance.

  • Reversed plane bending fatigue tests were conducted on SiC particle aluminum composite. The initiation and growth behaviors of small surface fatigue cracks were continuously monitored by the replica technique and investigated in detail. The fatigue life of MMC is shorter than that of matrix because there exists interface debonding of SiC particles and matrix on the whole face of the notch part in the casting metal matrix composite(MMC). The coalescence of micro-cracks was observed in the tests conducted at high stress levels. Due to the coalescence, a higher crack growth rate of small cracks rather than those of long cracks was recognized in da/dn-$K_{max}$ relationship.

  • Genomic relationship matrix (GRM) was constructed using whole genome SNP markers of swine and genomic breeding value was estimated by substitution of the numerator relationship matrix (NRM) based on pedigree information to GRM. Genotypes of 40,706 SNP markers from 448 pure Landrace pigs were used in this study and five kinds of GRM construction methods, G05, GMF, GOF, $GOF^*$ and GN, were compared with each other and with NRM. Coefficients of GOF considering each of observed allele frequencies showed the lowest deviation with coefficients of NRM and as coefficients of GMF considering the average minor allele frequency showed huge deviation from coefficients of NRM, movement of mean was expected by methods of allele frequency consideration. All GRM construction methods, except for $GOF^*$, showed normally distributed Mendelian sampling. As the result of breeding value (BV) estimation for days to 90 kg (D90KG) and average back-fat thickness (ABF) using NRM and GRM, correlation between BV of NRM and GRM was the highest by GOF and as genetic variance was overestimated by $GOF^*$, it was confirmed that scale of GRM is closely related with estimation of genetic variance. With the same amount of phenotype information, accuracy of BV based on genomic information was higher than BV based on pedigree information and these symptoms were more obvious for ABF then D90KG. Genetic evaluation of animal using relationship matrix by genomic information could be useful when there is lack of phenotype or relationship and prediction of BV for young animals without phenotype.

  • A numerical model that can simulate the nonlinear behavior of ultra high strength fiber reinforced concrete (UHSFRC) structures subjected to monotonic loading is introduced. The material properties of UHSFRC, such as compressive and tensile strength or elastic modulus, are different from normal strength reinforced concrete. The uniaxial compressive stress-strain relationship of UHSFRC is designed on the basis of experimental result, and the equivalent uniaxial stress-strain relationship is introduced for proper estimation of UHSFRC structures. The steel is uniformly distributed over the concrete matrix with particular orientation angle. In advance, this paper introduces a numerical model that can simulate the tension-stiffening behavior of tension part of the axial member on the basis of the bond-slip relationship. The reaction of steel fiber is considered for the numerical model after cracks of the concrete matrix with steel fibers are formed. Finally, the introduced numerical model is validated by comparison with test results for idealized UHSFRC beams.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural relationships among the related variables of peer relationship. 547 schoolage children's social support, self-esteem, empathy and peer relationship. Subjects of this study were 547 elementary school students residing in Daegu-Si completed questionnaires assessing peer relationship, social support, self-esteem, empathy. The sample variance-covariance matrix was analyzed using AMOS 20.0, and the maximum likelihood minimization function. The goodness of fit was evaluated using the SRMR, RMSEA and its 90% confidence interval, CFI, and TLI. The results were as follow. First, children's social support was found to hadn't direct effect on peer relationship. Second, children's self-esteem, empathy have a direct effect on peer relationship. Third, children's social support have a direct effect on self-esteem, empathy. and children's self-esteem have a direct effect on empathy.
