  • A method is described for predicting crack with and spacing in Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete (SFRC). The crack behavior of SFRC influenced by longitudinal reinforcement ratio, volume and type of sleet fiber, strength of concrete. It can be observed from experimental results that addition of steel fiber to reinforced concrete beam reduces crack width in serviceability limit stales. The proposed method predicts crack widths in cracking stage of the beam. Calculated crack widths obtained for reinforced concrete beams and different volume and type of steel fiber, strength of concrete showed good agreement with experimental results.

  • An experimental study on the behavior of Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete Columns under eccentric compression are presented. Forth-one columns were tested; the variables were column type, eccentricity of load, fiber contents, and longitudinal reinforcement ratio. The column size was $250\times160$ mm in cross section with an effective length of 1150 mm. Eccentricity of load was varied in the range from 1/6 to 1/2 times the column depth. This paper is to provides a framework for basic understanding of the steel fiber concrete columns.

  • The mechanical properties of specialty cellulose fiber reinforced concrete and the contribution of specialty cellulose fiber to drying shrinkage crack reduction potential of concrete and theirs evaluation are presented in this paper. The effects of differing fiber volume fraction(0.03%, 0.06%, 0.08%, 0.1%, 0.15%, 0.2%) were studied. The results of tests of the specialty cellulose fiber reinforced concrete were compared with plain and polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete. Flexural performance(flexural strength and flexural toughness) test results indicated that specialty cellulose fiber reinforcement showed an ability to increase the flexural performance of normal- and high- strength concrete(as compared to plain and polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete). Optimum specialty cellulose fiber reinforced concrete were obtianed using 0.08% fiber volume fraction. Drying shrinkage cracking test results confirmed specialty cellulose fibers are effective in reducing the drying shrinkage cracking of normal and high-strength concrete(as compared to popylene fiber reinforced concrete).

  • In this study we intended to investigate properties of cement mortar with recycled PET fiber, PE fiber, and PP fiber such as slump flow, compressive strength, tensile strength, and flexural strength. As results of experiment, several properties of specimen with recycled PET fiber were little low comparing those of specimen with PE fiber and PP fiber. But if we see from point of economy and recycle of industrial wastes, it has enough reason to be used. Compressive strength of specimen with recycled PET fiber at 56 days was about 10% higher, but tensile strength and flexural strength were lower than that of no-fiber.

  • In this study, one-way shear tests were performed to investigate the shear capacity of amorphous steel fiber-reinforced concrete slabs. Primary test parameters were the shear reinforcing method(Stirrups or amorphous steel fibers) and shear reinforcement ratio(0.25 and 0.5%). A series of four one-way slab specimens including a specimen without shear reinforcement and three specimens with shear reinforcements(stirrup, 0.25%, and 0.5% amorphous steel fibers) were tested. The test results showed that 0.25% amorphous steel fibers improved the shear capacity, but 0.5% amorphous steel fibers did not improve the shear capacity compared to the specimen with conventional shear reinforcement of 0.25%. Additional study is needed to understand the variation of shear capacity according to fiber volume fraction.

  • As increasing number of large-size earthquake around Korean peninsula, many interests have been focused to the earthquake strengthening of existing structures. The brittle fracture of Non-seismic designed columns lead to full collapse of the building. In the past, cross-sectional extension method, a steel plate reinforcing method and fiver-reinforced method are applied to Seismic Rehabilitation Technique mainly. However, the reinforcement methods have drawbacks that induce physical damage to structures, large space, long duration time. So, in this study, performance evaluation of previously developed FRP seismic reinforcement which do not induce physical damage and short duration time was enforced. The specimens were constructed with 80% downscale. FRP seismic reinforcement are manufactured of glass fiber or aluminum plate with holes and glass fiber. From the experiment results, seismic performance of specimens which reinforced with FRP seismic reinforcement were increased.

  • Purpose: This study compared fracture strength and fracture modes between metal wire reinforcement and glass fiber reinforcement in repaired maxillary complete denture. Materials and methods: In this study, fracture was reproduced on center of maxillary complete dentures and the denture was repaired with auto-polymerizing resin. The experimental groups (n = 10) were subjected to the following condition: without reinforcing material (control group), reinforcing with metal wire (W group), reinforcing with glass fiber pre-impregnated with light-curing resin (SES MESH, INNO Dental Co., Yeoncheon, Korea, G group). The fracture strength and fracture modes of a maxillary complete denture were tested using Instron test machine (Instron Co., Canton, MA, USA) at a 5.0 mm/min crosshead speed. The flexure load was applied to center of denture with a 20 mm diameter ball attachment. When fracture occurred, the fracture mode was classified based on fracture lines. The Kruskal-wallis test and the Mann-whitney U test were performed to identify statistical differences at ${\alpha}=.05$. Results: W group showed the highest value of fracture strength, there was no significant difference (P>.05) between control group and G group. Control group and W group showed anteroposterior fracture mainly, group W showed adhesive fracture of denture base and reinforcing material. Conclusion: In limitation of this study, the glass fiber did not improve the fracture strength of repaired maxillary complete denture, and adhesive failure was occurred along the lines of glass fiber.
